Yeah, I was there a couple years ago when Modest Mouse was there and started moving up DT (Drop Zone then) just as The Walkmen (opening band) started playing my favorite song by them (The Rat). It was awesome. I could see them perfectly, until we dropped.
The rest of the evening we could hear Modest Mouse throughout the park. Even in The Beast's queue I caught some "Float On". Too bad that because of the trims, there was no Floating On The Beast that night. Oh well.
I could see how the shooter could be angry about that. I mean, the attendant is pretty much making fun of him and he/she could see that as getting the crowd to humiliate him/her, and though they may laugh at it as well, they might take it personally as being insulted by a worker at the park for playing a game they just paid quite a few nickles for. Just a thought.
I'm with you on the web cams throughout the year. I love checking the CP ones over the season just to see people having fun at the park while I'm stuck at work. Maybe they could put one on top of the International Restaurant showing International Street. And one somewhere in Coney Mall showing the midway. And one in Action Zone. Of course, keep the one on the Tower showing off DB.
Glad to see you posting around here again Shaggy. Seems like it's been a while. I've always been fascinated by the little insights you have about the park.
Totally guilty. But I also have a couple other parks' (CP, HW, etc) opening days marked in there too.
You might be a KI addict if you're already working out your game plan (where you'll go and in what order) for April 18th.
I'm only thinking DB and after that, I have no plan.
When I saw this post, I thought of the International Restaurant. They went through a lot of trouble to have you guys keep it clean during the Blues Party.
I wonder how many guys, still dazed by the awesome ride they've just experienced, are going to start down the ramp in the middle of the crowd, looking up at the staggering height of the hill they just dropped from, and BAM; no more having kids.
I have wondered this myself. I would think this would be just as good a place to expand as any.
I always liked the idea of connecting X-Base with Action Zone but it seems like there's too much stuff (AE, SOB, go-karts) in the way to make that happen.
If I get the days off and my fiancee doesn't join some other club, I'll be going at it alone. Still bummed I missed the last event and would like to meet some of you freaks.
I wonder, will there be a cap put on the limit of people able to go to this event? I was at Coasterbuzz and they're psyched about this too as I'm sure the other organizations are as well. Seems like this could draw quite the enthusiast crowd.
