  1. I feel like there should be some credit that comes from being an enthusiast long enough to see major changes. Especially since most of the changes we see are losses of coasters we have known. It's exciting to see a change that is likely to breathe life into an older coaster rather than a dismantling (or steeling old woodies). I don't personally keep track of the coasters I've ridden (I don't even remember for certain what parks I've been to, it's been so long). If I did, I would at least note when I have ridden a ride under multiple name/theming changes, or when the ride experience had made significant changes (addition of seatbelts or minor changes in restraints I probably wouldn't count, but a significant difference in train style like Rougarou, or the backwards Racer, I would). As long as there is no governing body for "credits", though, I say whatever floats your boat. It's not something anyone outside of enthusiasts would care about (and not even some of us) and among those, there are going to be endless differences of opinion about what "counts."
  2. The sun was just right when I rode the train on Sunday that I could make out the roof of the house inside the fort through the gaps of the fort boards. No idea what shape it is in, but it's apparently still there.
  3. My husband and I went to the first couple of times they had it, meeting up with some other fireworks enthusiast friends. It was insanely crowded. To the point I have no idea what rides they even have, because all I saw were waves of humanity. I'm a little spoiled about fireworks shows from enthusiast events I've attended, so I didn't find the show all that great. It was better than most local shows, though. We probably wouldn't have gone the second time except my husband wanted to see his fireworks buddies.
  4. If we're talking footers visible from AE's queue, it looks like the white dots in the center of this pic from the Apple Maps app may be those:
  5. The Apple Maps app still has satellite images from Son of Beast era, but I couldn't make it out on there either. This website has a picture of where the author believes the track may have been being stored: http://www.thegimcrackmiscellany.com/2007/06/top-fiver-3-things-you-didnt-know-about-paramounts-kings-island/
  6. I admitted to taking it and he told me I was going to have to help him find a replacement. Your response was better!
  7. If anyone doesn't want their skeleton key keychain, I'd be willing to pay like $15 for one. Haven't seen any up on eBay yet, but there probably will be some eventually.
  8. They didn't have an ERT on Friday, when it was Haunt only, but I suspect they will on the Saturdays that open hours before Haunt starts. They did have 1/2 hour before opening ERT on Sunday.
  9. FanofFirehawk posted some good descriptions (with spoilers): http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30257-a-spooky-tale-from-the-haunt-with-frightlane/#entry647924
  10. I'm fond of Ghost Riders in the Sky and Cotton-Eyed Joe from the train. I had Ghost Riders stuck in my head last night.
  11. I hated Vortex from the very beginning. Back then, it was the "cool" one to ride (over Beast), because it was taller, newer, and steel. All it did for me was make me feel like I'd been in a prize fight, bouncing my head back and forth between the restraints. I only ever rode it if I was at the park with someone who really wanted to. Until this year. I read about 5-1 here on the forums and gave it a try. I've ridden it a few times this summer, having surprisingly fun rides. I'm taller now, so the restraints don't obscure my view and bash my head like when I was younger. Then, when I was at the park Sunday, it finally happened. As I was in the station waiting for The Bat to take off I had an actual craving to ride Vortex. So I did. And had fun.
  12. What is the deal with the slider guys? I encountered a few of them while waiting in line for Tombstone, skidding under the ropes. It's a great effect, a loud noise and then suddenly there's somebody standing next to you. But I couldn't figure out what they're supposed to be, otherwise. Is it meant to be like Clockwork Orange? I was a little disappointed that their entire shtick seemed to be the sliding alone and when they appeared in front of someone seemed at a loss for anything else to do but stare. At least say something, yaknow?
  13. I keep getting that song stuck in my head (it's on the commercial for the new series Forever, so that's not helping), and it reminds me of KI. Same with Pharrel's "Happy." I've also had days where I woke up with one of the Cirque Imagine songs stuck in my head and it stayed with me all day. My all-time favorite sound at the park is the otherworldly noise of the brakes of Drop Tower, as heard from below.
  14. That's the pic I got of the kangaroo. I assume he spends most of the time in his little tote bag. There were also miniature horses, donkeys, I think pot bellied pigs, llamas and alpacas as were already mentioned, guinea pigs, rabbits (that were taking some time away from petting in a non-reachable cage), sheep, a camel, a big tortoise (couldn't be petted), ducks and geese, fancy chickens, a small bovine of some type (don't know if it was a young ordinary cow or special breed or what), and a capybara that was hunkered down in the exact center of its enclosure to be sure it wasn't touched.
  15. Was this the miniature goats? They were pretty crowded by children when I was there, so I didn't check them out. The one who snubbed me was like four feet tall. Although, looking at her selfie, that looks like a big one. Guess goats just don't like me
  16. I love goats. I approached one, who was really excited about my outstretched hand until he realized there was no food in it. Then he totally snubbed me. Guess he didn't want petting. Next time I'll remember to have some cash for goat food. I had already spent the ones I had on me on games before wandering over Sunday.
  17. Where was the train when it jerked? I don't have an answer regardless, just curious.
  18. I saw the fog on Beast first time through Friday (before 7) as well as after midnight. I didn't know about it beforehand, so it made an impression.
  19. I'll go through with you on the 3rd, too, if I break down and buy the key. I am not in love with the price, but curiosity weighs heavily on me. For some reason, I got the distinct feeling on Friday that I was intimidating many of the scareactors from making any real attempts on me. It might be better to have "bait" along with you instead, to draw attention away, if you're worried tho. Somebody is going to have to point out which one is Sam to me that night. I wonder if it's the one that accused me of stealing his pig. Edited to add: so I was looking on the KI website for more info about Skeleton Key. Seriously, Fright Lane only offers front of line access ONE time per attraction? Did they enforce that by having scannable lanyards to track you? It does at least actually come with the special collectible keychain, doesn't it, because the site doesn't specifically mention it?
  20. My selfies make me think I probably spend most of my time at KI frightening young children I enjoyed the petting zoo, too. The waterpark was also where I happened upon the KI Five. I was definitely glad I checked it out.
  21. Of the six shows I've seen, the first one on opening night was the best. I think the performers were really excited to get to show us what they can do. By the way, what ride were these from?
  22. Hey, I just discovered Skeleton Crew does perform today! Yay! I could only find listings online for Fridays and Saturdays so I assumed they were off Sunday. But, there are shows at 2, 4, and 6 KI Five are here too, in special black shirts and orange ties.
  23. Weird. I had the Gold Pass discount NOT work one day when the young woman at the gate didn't get my pass scanned properly (my pic didn't show up) but let me by anyway in her speed at gate opening.
  24. Am I the only one who thinks the fire twirler looks like Patton Oswald? I know he might not like the comparison (and I feel it is somehow the makeup enhancing the resemblance), but I love Patton Oswald, and the thought of PO doing that act kept bringing a smile to my face.
