  1. I assumed the current color was meant to suggest the color when bronze or copper "rusts" (verdigris). It's the color many outdoor statues take on naturally (see Liberty in NYNY).
  2. I wouldn't consider the current color blue, exactly.
  3. I didn't allow my lack of experience of TR:TR keep me from voting for it. Even though its entire run was during my years away from the park, I can tell from what I've heard and even from what I saw that remains (during the lights-on tour of Madame Fatale's) that it was something really different and special. OL:FoF is a close second for me.
  4. Not that I think they would, but I think Disney could do a lot of good with the Busch Gardens parks. I'd expect them to be in a better position to buy them than Cedar Fair at the moment, at least.
  5. Forget the bacteria. Pinworms are the things that make me a little faint to think about, especially when I'm spending time where many young children have likely touched a lot of the things I touch. I'd much rather risk some bacteria from the driers after washing my hands than risk ingesting pinworm eggs. Ick.
  6. I used to go by that building all the time when I lived in Burbank (for about 6 years, been back in Ohio almost 10). I think I went in one time to see someone working there who my husband had worked with previously, but with my poor memory I can't remember for sure. Edit: I asked my husband, and he confirmed we did. Considering I always had wondered what it looked like inside, I wish I could actually remember what it was like inside :-/
  7. The farther we get into the off-season the more willing I would be to brave the cold for a chance to be back at the Island.
  8. These sugar cookies my aunt always made. I made them a fair amount when I was younger but lost my recipe as an adult. Last year I finally got the recipe from her again, and they're still as good as ever. They're actually closer to muffin tops than typical cookies, extremely soft and light. Blend in a bowl: 2 cups sugar, 1/2 tsp salt & 1 tsp baking powder Add 1 egg, 1 cup sweet cream & 1 tsp vanilla Dissolve 1 tsp baking soda in 1 cup sour cream...add to mixture Add 3 1/2 cups flour - one cup at a time Drop tsp of batter on a greased and floured cookie sheet Sprinkle a little sugar on top - put red hot in middle Bake at 425 for 8 minutes
  9. Somebody is selling a large Nicktoons sign from KI, for those of you who liked that era best: http://m.ebay.com/itm/231413662181?nav=SEARCH And I can't believe they pressed this album, but i can't buy a DVD of Cirque Imagine *grumble grumble* http://m.ebay.com/itm/331405729444?nav=SEARCH I wonder if it has the song I remember from the shows of my childhood that included the line "and I have to go to the BATHROOM!"
  10. I'm biased because I created it, but I enjoyed the thread where everyone gave their impressions of what The Beast (from the logo) was.
  11. Anything made from this fabric, or if the person you're gifting to sews herself or himself, a yard or two of the fabric itself: http://www.ttfabrics.com/fabric/roller-coaster/ Just bought some for myself. It wasn't out yet when I was looking for coaster-themed fabric earlier this summer.
  12. I'm sure they have to have existed, but no, I don't remember seeing one for sale (and for a few months, I was looking on eBay for coaster shirts all the time). But looking for one online just now found this article from last year about gifts for coaster enthusiasts: http://www.coaster101.com/2013/12/02/gift-guide-coaster-enthusiasts-2013/
  13. I don't know if a cruiseliner full of virgins is the most prudent... Oh. It's Virgin, not virgin.
  14. Worse, I think that graphic was used Cedar Fair-wide, it's not just KI's. Unfortunately, Cedar Fair has made a lot of terrible decisions when it comes to their web presence. I've been impressed with KI's usage of social media when they haven't been restrained by Cedar Fair decisions.
  15. Models of Face/Off and Delirium are currently being offered on Craigslist. I'm tempted to buy Delirium and wrap it in Christmas lights since I donated my tree to Goodwill last month and haven't gotten a new one yet. It's three feet tall! Kings Island Face-Off Roller Coaster Model 195 http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/atq/4776484517.html Kings Island Delirium Model 150 http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/atq/4776485173.html
  16. It's not KI specifically but I saw this for sale at Tuesday Morning: Great gift for a coaster enthusiast.
  17. Heck if I know I wasn't around for the SoB years. It looks professionally done.
  18. Wow, that is pretty cool. If money wasn't tight right now and/or I had any personal experience with SoB, I'd be asking for that for Christmas this year. Here's a link to the listing: http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/clt/4782710133.html
  19. Join the club, freaks76. I just move along.
  20. Huckleberry Hound was my favorite of the Hanna Barbera characters when I was a kid. At the park, I liked the Jabberjaw ride, and I always loved the way the octopus (whose name escapes me right now) ride looked. At some point I ended up with a Quickdraw McGraw pencil sharpener that I always liked, although I didn't see any of his cartoons (or know his name) until I was an adult and got the Boomerang network. I'll admit I also loved Scrappy Doo even though, watching them as an adult, I see his character as the travesty it was. I'm still keeping my little plastic Smurf-sized toy of him (that I almost certainly got at KI) though.
  21. If I had a little more cash flow at the moment, I'd probably be visiting the Miami Valley Gaming casino. I was able to turn my free play for joining their player's club when they opened into about $20 cash, so that was nice. I haven't been back yet, though. I think you have to be 21 for that tho.
  22. Then again... see Ninja. I love The Beast because of the woods. However, I'm not certain too many trees too close to a coaster are the best idea.
  23. Even the new Starbucks face on International street is a repaint of the current facade of that building (something I didn't really recognize until I looked at a photo of the store that was there), so I think it very unlikely they intend to detheme the rest of International Street. If anything, the planned color scheme looks more Old World to me than the weird blue Thrill Seekers has been.
