  1. I haven't ridden anything for awhile, but the women's restrooms are starting to have lines :/ Edited: about a 15 min wait for each Adventure Express and Racer. Our blue train was held up from dispatch due to a "beaver" on the track, some kids noticed around the corner. He apparently left and they sent us on our way, but I noticed he was actually in the middle of the track now as we rode out of the station. Fortunately, the groundhog was not an idiot and made it under the station before the train got where he had been. This is also by far the longest line I've seen waiting for the doors to open for Cirque. At 2:30, both sides wrapped around the perimeter of the courtyard and this side along the walkway toward Action Zone nearly to the outside eating area of Festhaus. Plus DonKIPR was down that way photographing the line. The other side is lined up past the front gate lockers. Ok, 2:45, I think they're waiting to see how long this line can possibly get. Doors still shut. If they ever open the doors, they say we're all going to sit where they put us rather than picking our own at all. 2:48, announce they'll seat us "as soon as possible". I'm about to walk, this is too long to stand in the bare sun. 2:49 doors open. 2:53 I'm seated. Not where I'd prefer for standing a half hour outside the doors but guess it will do.
  2. They're pouring a concrete floor in The Crypt building... I mean, the new beige box next to Beast's station. They're also roofing it in, you guessed it, beige corrugated steel. Gorgeous. I could only see the new work from the ride so no pics. I'm sure you can imagine it though.
  3. Too early to say for sure how long waits will be (so far next to no wait for FoF, BLSC, or Beast- although they were inexplicably assigning seats on Beast anyway) but there are a fair number of people here today. After seeing DonKIPR during ERT, I get the feeling today is the day for Racer, but that is pure speciation.
  4. I bought men's cargo shorts this year and they were my best investment ever. I have some women's pants with zipper pockets big enough to carry my phone in its hard shell case, but the position of the pocket is inconvenient. The saddlebags on my cargo pants keep stuff out of the way of the restraints. They aren't exactly sexy but I love Banshee and love being unencumbered. I'm not at the park to pick up guys anyway
  5. Oh gosh, there's a goal too? I am getting all my school gym class anxiety up over this promotion. I want to participate, but I am really bad at sports. I hope they'll be ok if I just toss mine in by hand. If not, I'll probably just donate money and leave it at that.
  6. I think it is fairly common belief among forum members that if glasses are worn on a coaster, they should be held on with a strap. That would go for prescription or sunglasses. It's not about people here being jerks, it's about the safety of other passengers. It also prevents the person who needs their glasses so much they won't ride without them from spending the rest of their day at the park (and possibly the ride home) deprived of the ability to see clearly, when their glasses fall off during a ride.
  7. From the Guinness World Records website: What is a world record? Guinness World Records only recognises WORLD records. We do not recognise national or country specific achievements. All Guinness World Records must also fulfil some key criteria including: Measurable (all records must be defined as the fastest, longest, tallest, shortest, largest, heaviest, oldest or most) Based on a single variable (we would only recognise the fastest car OR the longest journey - but never the longest journey in the fastest car) Verifiable (can you prove it?) Breakable (all our records must be open to being challenged by a greater achievement)
  8. Those restrooms aren't terribly obvious, though, so I can understand it a little. Of course, someone not embarrassed to pop a squat in front of others shouldn't be too painfully shy to ask about the existence of available restrooms... I've often found that women's restroom to be the coldest place in the park, and it gets less traffic during the day (and rarely anyone direct from a water ride), so it is my favorite to use.
  9. Looking through the Facebook page farther, I see that the first replacement clown is named Jonathan Julien. After the original "Nico" was injured during a performance in the first week, he took over the role for awhile before another clown was brought in and Carl took the role of "Nico" instead. Assuming that list I posted is to be believed about who is performing Hand2Hand, he didn't leave the show, he just changed parts when the second replacement clown was brought in. Which makes me wonder, was someone else in the silver and black earlier in the season on the trampoline (all the relevant part changes were made before Hand2Hand started) and I missed the change? Or is the list wrong? Or is the tag on the Facebook photo wrong? Although linking to his personal page from it, he does look like second "Nico", I can't decide for sure whether he looks like the current guy on the trampoline and Hand2Hand. Am I getting too stalker obsessed about this? I still don't know for sure whether Joshua Vinette is the name of the long or short haired of the newest two clowns. I am inclined to believe the short haired one, since Sam is still listed, and the new long haired clown replaced him.
  10. Other than the long hair, I didn't think he looked much like Julien (unless you mean by "another new clown" one different than the one I saw earlier in the week). There is a listing of the performers on the Cirque Imagine - Kings Island Facebook page, but it doesn't seem to be updated with the name of the new clown or the new ring performer. (I added some info I know to the quoted list) Biography Performers: Carl Rom Colthoff - Trampoline (current Nico the clown) Jonathan Julien - Trampoline & Hand 2 Hand Alana Moggridge - Hand 2 Hand Trevor Bodogh - Trial Bicycle (Twitter @trevorbodogh) Solenne Bailly - Rope Nico Bellemare - Ring (new one is, according to a Facebook pic, named Sara) Kayla Gray - Trampoline Joshua Vinette - Trampoline (one of the clowns, but I'm not sure if he was the first injury replacement, or the second one who is currently still performing. I don't think this is the new long haired clown, though) Julien Roberge - Trampoline (tall, long haired clown) Samuel Aylestock - Trampoline (this was the shortest clown who came out on the tricycle for the first couple months of the show, before he was apparently injured) When the second-most-recent clown joined the troupe, I thought the first showing that he resembled Julien (tall long haired clown), especially around the nose. After a couple viewings I realized it was the makeup that was giving me the feeling.
  11. Excellent catch! Were you just trying to get a recording of the storm in general?
  12. I assume the guns on KI's BBoBH ride are infrared (like tv remote controls). A laser dot would be nice, though. I've ridden once this season with a very effective gun, and there were still no dots, so I don't think it is an indication they're broken.
  13. I was hoping for that, until I saw it in person. It is definitely being clad on the outside in the same corrugated metal crap as the Crypt building. I don't get it, at all. I even saw what Tecumpseh Buildings can do in wood, and their designs would fit in perfectly to The Beast Canyon mining camp. Instead, it's another eyesore.
  14. Ok, winning the prize wouldn't be. I am fairly sure he is excited about giving it
  15. I like the barn station. I don't understand it but I like it.
  16. Considering it will probably be Don giving the VIP tour, I'm not sure the prize would be as exciting for him as your average park goer
  17. The siding on the new building perfectly matches the big empty beige box from The Crypt. I am NOT impressed.
  18. Rain thinned the crowds. 15 minutes for Diamondback. Station wait for Beast. I just saw "Nico" from Cirque get off The Beast. He was with a woman, may have been the one on the trampoline but I have never seen her out of makeup to know for sure. Really cool to see the performers get to enjoy the park too
  19. Caught today's 7:00 show. They have four clowns again. Sam has been replaced I was hoping he would recover and rejoin the show. The new guy is really good though. I can no longer refer to Julian as the long haired clown now (guess he's the tall long haired clown, and the new guy is the shorter long haired clown), because the new guy also has long hair. He's quite impressive on the trampoline, too. They also did the longest box play at the beginning that I've seen for awhile. It was energetic and fun. No return of the teeter totter, though. In the playing around in the audience at the beginning of the show, they found a woman in the audience with hair as red as the clowns (more red even than mine is now) and put some makeup on her nose and cheeks to make her match them. It was cute
  20. I was drawn like a magnet to the park tonight even though I hadn't been going to come this week. Banshee was 8 minutes from entering the queue to passing the entrance again as I left the area. Don't think tonight is Racer's 100-mill night seeing lack of activity in the area. Walked on the blue train tho. The Wurlitzer is great! Flames are going on BLSC and SR&R is still listed as closed on the LED sign outside the front gate.
  21. Wow, that is too cool! I can only hope it holds out till I get back to the park next week, but I bet it won't. If I did win, I'd probably take KIC members on the VIP tour with me because nobody in my "real" life is into KI like me.
  22. Still fingers crossed they decided to do a new paint job since they had to take it apart to fix it, anyway.
  23. I just want to make a little shout-out for Wellbutrin XL. Unlike most antidepressants which can make you gain weight, it can actually act as a weight loss aid. To the point they won't prescribe it to people with a prior history of anorexia. It is part of the reason I was able to lose an extra eighty pounds I was carrying around for ten years. It can also help with other addictions, like smoking (not that I smoked). One of the really good things about it, is that since my weight loss came about gradually (about a pound a week over a couple years), as I modified my general relationship to food and started counting calories, I have kept the weight off even after no longer taking it (or any other antidepressant). I would recommend anyone who is both unhappy with their weight and on an antidepressant that they aren't entirely happy with to at least talk to their doctor about trying Wellbutrin. It really did help change my life.
  24. They're this kind of meat filled pastry. Wait, oh not those pasties?
