  1. Even Joxer Jinx (or FoF for that matter) isn't 200 ft in the air. It was just a fairly normal event in the coaster industry that got blown way out of proportion.
  2. It equals 42. The meaning of life. Paramount's Kings Island is owned by Viacom. Viacom is slowly taking over the world. Soon everyone will love the number 42.
  3. And why would they build such a tiny station? Look at all these other coasters. Besides Top Cat Taxi Jam and Scooby Ghoster Coaster, what other coaster has their station lying right on the ground? None. They are all elevated to some degree. Plus, where would the queue lines go? They are already locked right there, building and games on all sides, plus AE exit on the remaining part. There is no room. I've said where in Coney it would go if one comes in, in previous forums. Its the only logical place for them. Plus from other things I've heard it would confirm it.
  4. RIPCobra, you really need to look closer at the detail of the rides and names in Paramount Parks. Lets list shall we: The Racer - true Kings Dominion's Rebel Yell is similar, its not a clone and named different. Beastie - Ours was the first and only by this current name. Other Paramount Parks (from here on out to be PP) have this same ride but are called Scooby... Whatever The Beast - Nothing else like it in the world. Enough said. King Cobra - Though, no longer standing, it was the first of its kind in the US, the first with a loop. The two other PP with them are not clones, they have slightly different layouts from KC, different names and color schemes. The Bat - Well, its gone, it was the first of its kind, enough said. Vortex - Built well before the other two Vortex-es (at PGA and PC) and of completely different type coaster. After Vortex opened KD built Anaconda, with less loops and completely different layout. No clone. Adventure Express - Similar rides to AE, but none in PP Top Cat Taxi Jam - Clearly ours was first and used to have a different name, plus has different, shorter layout Top Gun - Got ours the same year as Great America got theirs. Completely different rides. Flight of Fear - Got ours the same year as KD, so neither was techincally first. Scooby Ghoster Coaster - No other PP has this coaster, others have the same name, not the same style. Face/Off - The first coaster we ever got that wasn't an original (or built at same time...FoF), but different name, different colors. Son of Beast - Nothing else like it, only woodie with a loop, you do the math, but from what I hear not everyone can get the simple stuff Runaway Reptar - The second coaster we got that wasn't an original (SilverStreak at PCW was first), but ours has different name and different color scheme. That was just the coasters in order of being built. Now for the flats, just the big ones: Drop Zone - True other, PP had Drop Zones before us, but they were second generation Intamin Drop Towers, they were not gyro drops like ours. Ours, is taller and through-put is much higher. DZ in KD (new in 2003) is similar, but different since seating ring does not spin. Delirium - No other Giant Frisbee anywhere, yet. Others will probably never have same color or name. Its a first, its great, why shouldn't other parks want it. Tomb Raider - No one else has a giant top spin. No one else has a giant top spin in a box. No one else has a giant ride in a box with huge budda's and named after a blockbuster movie. Now how many out of that list is a clone. 4. Did we have them first? Well 1 of them, 1 was built same year as another, and the other two came after. So out of 17 rides listed 4 are at another park in some way shape or form. I don't see that as PP cloning everything and using Kings Island as the guine pig (sp?). If anything, since PARAMOUNT'S Kings Island is the flag ship PARAMOUNT PARK, they want to make sure they have the best. If it bombed at another park, don't put it in PKI. If it was a smash hit at another park, put it in KI. If they already know the ride is awsome, put it in their park first. PP knows what they are doing. They aren't Six Flags, and they don't copy the same thing time after time.
  5. Well we, in food service, had been told we had to have certain things closed and people out. So my assumption was they were shooting from back there again. I guess I was wrong.
  6. No, many things did not go off properly or at all in the show tonight. One of the main things. They only shot the fireworks off in from behind The Racer. There were supposed to be fireworks from behind Tomb Raider as well, like last year. That didn't happen. Half the stuff on the tower wasn't going right. The only thing that seemed to be right was what came out of Coney Mall. I know I promised in another thread pictures of this years fireworks, unfortunetly due to changing weather and constantly changing time of launches I was unable to get to my "perch" tonight. Then they were supposed to launch with it still raining and wasn't about to get the camera wet, plus with all the people everywhere and the unusually poor performance (poor as in what it was supposed to be) I didn't tempt it.
  7. 37,000
  8. Dang you, you beet me too it. I noticed that in the park yesterday also. I didn't get a chance to get pictures up. If you look at the two photos that Dane posted, the first one... There is a big blue "tarp" looking thing rolled up in the middle. Guess what that is. Its the inflatable pad for under the ladders. True, everytime I go by the game it seems like no one is playing but they actually are doing really good. I've heard the games people talking about the success, so its only logical you put in a bigger one that looks more real, and part of the park rather than one that is just plopped on the ground in Action Zone. This probably means that either CyberSays will be moving. Just a guess since its partially covering the one side of the "game building". Or Jumpin Jack Splash will be moving. Possibly both. They just seem to crowded in there to keep all three right there.
  9. I was not working tonight but I was there most of the day taking pictures (got a few good shots when the skys turned blue). Heard the announcement that the fireworks would be going off at 9 instead of 10 because of an incoming storm so I quickly got to my perch, just to be dissapointed by the site of the quickly incoming black skies. Announcement was made that fireworks would be starting in 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, announcement that fireworks have been canceled. One hour later, I left the employee lot and had no problems getting out. Looked out to the guest lot. Looks as if every single person was out in their car, lights on, brake lights on, not moving.
  10. Well the Salt Water Taffy guy told me that he doesn't like the park and going to sabatoge the rides by sticking wads of Salt Water Taffy on anything new the park builds. I can't really believe him though, he only sells Salt Water Taffy, come on, we aren't near a Beach or anything.
  11. Way ahead of you on that one.
  12. The shape of the building is just not right and too small to be any kind of shop. With the location that they are putting it in and the shape it appears to me that it will be possibly a larger venue for the CyberSays Game there. Between our park and Carowinds, we have the smaller of the two. They basically have ours one onside of the booth and another of the same size on the other doing two different "scenes". If you look at the building it is shaped and framed (in my opinion) to be smaller in the back and the front be wider and open like a canopy. Definetly no onride photo would need a booth that big, plus why would they put one on Adventure Express. Oh yeah, just like the employees of Kings Island are contracted (by their employement) not to release information about the park that is not yet public information, the contracted builders and electricians are contracted to that same confidentiality. They know they can lose their contract and relationship with the park.
  13. Days of Thunder rocked. Parts may have been boring but that flip back when Tom Cruise shifts gears was great. It was great watching people's reactions to seeing you flip your legs way up in the air during that part.
  14. Correction, Nights of Fire will be from the normal fireworks launch area, behind Tomb Raider and from multiple levels of the Eifel Tower. It is truely an amazing show to watch. I'll be perched yet again above the crowds on the 4th and 5th watching and capturing the show. Expect to see some more fireworks pictures in the next week.
  15. I'd like a copy. tysonca@email.uc.edu
  16. What do you mean recognized by them? You mean for the park to just give her stuff? If you want tickets for a benefit you can email them and ask for some but other than that they don't give anything.
  17. They just need to buy back the old Kings Island Inn & Resort and one section at a time redo it and make it great.
  18. It is still a restruant up there. They used it last year for the same thing and there are still occasionally small events held up there. True there is a conference room in there as well, but it is only one corner of that building.
  19. Yeah, the only thing different is that there is some padding added to the side bars of the lapbar. I doubt any dimensions were changed on these new ones.
  20. The dinner is in the international restraunt same as the "view". They just let you see the whole show from above the rest of the crowd and the music from outside is pumped inside on the overhead speakers.
  21. HAHA, yes I still use that line all the time. I love watching people's reactions to that.
  22. There is no way it can hit the metal guard. The cars rotate out while spinning, if not spinning fast enough they would still hang down. The whole arm with the guard attached goes up at the same speed as the wheel. It is designed so no matter what speed or angle the car is tilted it will not hit. The ride was taken out for maintenance issues, not injuries.
  23. I voted for airtime but I'd rather have that "uncontrollable feeling". Like twisting helix of The Beast or the constantly spinning feeling of X. I guess that comes in play with speed, too, on other coaster like MF. You go so fast and through turns, that just rocks.
  24. Actually, according to the parks safety guidelines if you see something that isn't rigth you should tell them to stop. Which would be reminding someone of the rules, like telling them to get off the hand rails or something else. I was in line for TR one day and this kid started jumping over the queue rail inside the building and I told him to stay inline. He was like, "I don't have to listen to you I work here". That just ****ed me off so I pulled out my ID and showed him that I did too and of course I had my supervisor bar on my nametag in my pocket and pulled it out too. He was being a smart a** and ****ed me off. I was about to get security pull him out of line and then write him up.
