  1. Sorry, didn't know the order and that wasn't what I was trying to explain just the two things that did happen. Wrong choice of words then.
  2. Wonder where those pictures are now. I would love to see what it looked like, since I only heard about it weeks after it happened and I work in the park.
  3. You are correct, no one fell out of SKYLAB. The only deaths that happend on Black Sunday were first the flight commander insident where the woman was too drunk and fell out of her restraints, and second the electricution in the pond. It was the pond by Viking Fury with the fountains, hence the reason there is no bridge across it anymore. The person fell/jumped in and somehow didn't die because he kicked the ground wire for the fountain. However the two people that went in after him didn't touch the ground wire and were electricuted.
  4. Don't think they are draining the lake or anything. That building isn't getting replaced (they wouldn't tear it down because they just replaced half of the inside last year). They are just retheming and changing menu.
  5. Unfortuenetly The Bat trains are long gone. However, behind SOB there is a solo, red, wooden coaster car. I don't know if it was an old racer car or an old beast car. It is really old and faded and deteriorating, they could take it and fix it up to its old glory with a new paint job and such and place that in there. Of course they can put pictures of every old ride and info next to them. For placement of musuem... I would say just convert the Paramount Theatre into a museum and get rid of the shows in there. Festhaus would never be converted because it is the big money maker for the park. I'm pretty sure that is why they took everything out, so they could just do food. I have an old picture of the Sky Lab somewhere I will have to scan in a post. The roulet wheel thing was called "Wheel of Fortune" it was over around where Nick Central is now. The Flying Dutchman was just like the Flying Eagles but you sat in a big wooden shoe. (This ride has been relocated to Kentucky Kingdom, if anyone wanted to still ride it)
  6. No, the international restuarant is not open. It is still used however for company picnics or private parties. If you were to bring a group to KI and get the group picnic in the picnic grove you can opt to have it in the International Restuarant if your group is small enough. Also, if you have a gold season pass you may get invited to have dinner up there during the 4th of July fireworks like we hosted last year. (I snuck out and went on the roof for pictures) Last time I heard Wings was being 'rethemed' like I said earlier. Nothing too drastic just a theme change. At one time it wasn't called Wings Dinner. Before Paramount it was Columbia Palace, so it might just be time for a change again. The other restuarant you may see 'rethemed' is Oktoberfest Gardens right by Adventure Express and the Slingshot. I don't know what it will be but I just heard that they wanted to make changes and possibly change their menu.
  7. The trains get taken off every winter and worked on and overhauled. So they don't need to replace the whole train when they can just replace the axils and such. The only reason they switched trains in the past was for safety reasons. They now have the seat dividers and head rests unlike the old original trains. Track is replaced all the time on wooden coasters across the country. You don't see every park getting new trains every year do you?
  8. Boats go through trees? That had to hurt! I'm assuming you are talking about the canoe rides where The Beast now stands? As for the Coney Mall ride... I think you are talking about the Enterprise, or whatever it was called at the park. It stood right by the entrance to The Racer right, not like Flight Commander that was way down at the end of Coney Mall.
  9. Hard Rock is teamed with Universal, they most likely wouldn't go into PKI. Plus Kings Island had a sit down restuarant at one time, is it there anymore, nope. Ain't going to happen, at least not in the near future. From rumors this summer, Wings IS being redone during the winter to a new theme or design along with a few of the other food places.
  10. Mine was definetly King Cobra, I don't remember riding anything else besides the big slide. Side note, I only saw KCKC SBNO right at the end of the 2000 season when they shut it down. I miss that one though cause it was about the only ride I can get my dad to ride. So I guess I have to ride Wild Thornberry's instead.
  11. Heck they've been replacing wood on The Racer a lot at the end of the season. They had a dumpster parked in the trees behind the turn around full of white wood. This picture I took shows some of the wood replaced in August. Plus why would replacing the steel track on The Beast mean they have to get new cars? Just means the old track was wearing away, things rust you know and break.
  12. They just created the floorless suspended train. It has never been on a coaster before except the one in england. The only change that ride has ever seen since it opened was the change in track color. It started out red then they painted it gray.
  13. Unfortunetly I would not be able to wear those while working there.
  14. All the old gardening and shaped bushes used to mainly be done by one man. He came to Kings Island when they moved from Coney Island. He made the cool bushes along the fountain, and the cylinder shaped trees in Coney Mall. He created the floral clock and calendar. Unfortunetly he passed away a few years back. Ever since he left the park all his wonderful creations that he worked so hard to make and preserve slowly disappeared. If I had the choice, that is what I would do too, change the landscaping and theming. Make it more welcoming and friendly.
  15. I just hope they don't decide to switch to the floorless/supsended trains. Gotta stick with the current.
  16. Its been a few months since i was there and i swear that elephant was sitting out front. I had to do a double take cause I passed it and then it donned on me where it was from. Now I'm going to go there tomorrow just to see if it is out front.
  17. The animals started disappearing because they were planning on closing the ride. They can not just open the gates and let them all loose or just dump them all on the Cincinnati Zoo. They had to find places to take them and then get them there. This comes from my boss, the VP of the Resale department, who has worked there basically since the park opened. Didn't Jungle Jim's purchase other animal statues besides the squirting elephant? I know they have set up an extensive water pond thing that you walk through with animals in it to get to the entrance. I heard one year before KI sold the elephant someone loaded the fountain with soap and the elephant was just blowing bubbles. That would have been great to see.
  18. Do you know how much everyone hated the costume people? I don't remember which character it was, but he always came to Huck Dairy and would pick up spoons and throw them at us. One that was annoying and immature, two we had to throw away all the spoon cause the character had his hands all over them. I'm sure the games people weren't too thrilled with you either for throwing their chickens.
  19. Working at the park you hear some good ones. I don't know full stories just where "supposed" ghosts are. The IR one on that site is not true but fun to scare people with. This is what I've been told: -After close people have said to have seen a little girl in a yellow poka-dot dress around the waterpark and in the woods around White Water Canyon or the Picnic Grove -Supposedly an old supervisor that once worked at Tucker's by The Vortex had died in a car accident and came back and haunts the restuarant. This is funny because one of the current food full-time managers will not enter after close. Supposedly the two didn't get along and any time he is in there after close things start falling off shelves. -The tower one is true, he really did die on there. I don't know if he haunts it but it is freaky leaving the park really late at night and walking past the tower. When the elevator is not being used the cables sway and snap against each other. It just creates a really eery feeling.
  20. I actually never rode the monorail so I don't know where it all traveled but I do know where the station was. The station was in Action Zone just about where sky flyer is now. The maintanence/storage shed for the trains is still there and was holding the damaged Top Gun train at the end of the season.
  21. Just quick question. Where exactly by The Beast and SOB are the land clearings. I only rode the rides once dark so never noticed.
  22. Note about temps. They suck. We only get them cause we can't get enough volunteer groups to help out so we call these temp agency in Middletown and Cincy and they send us the slummiest people who can't understand the "wardrobe request" we give them. They always think cause they get to work in the park for a day they are god and can do anything. I've sent many of temps home cause I didn't like their appearance and wouldn't let them work in my stand, or I would send them to other stands to keep them from ****ing me off. Not saying all temps are bad. Just the ones we always get.
