  1. Ok, Vortex has been there 12-13 years now and nothing has been done before about the restraints. Flight of Fear, not that was a ride people bit**ed about so much that they changed the padding all the time to try and make it comfortable, then once Premier made the change so that SOB could do a loop with lap bars (cause KI wanted it that way) then they changed it on all their rides. Vortex is fine the way it is. Yeah your head might get banged around a bit but if you are coming off that with a severe head ache then you already had the problem before the ride cause nothing can cause as much pain as FOF did before the restraint change.

I thought PKI was bad. I was just looking over costs for my spring break trip hiting Carowind, SFOG and then IOA, Sea World Orlando and BGT. The florida parks are $51.95 a piece. I about crapped my pants. Definetly season passes are the way to go if you plan to visit at least twice, or even to hit other parks in the same chain.
  3. Yeah that back seat on Vortex does give a great thrill. I would have to go with White Water Canyon. Congo falls is too short. You're up, you're down, you're done. Though it would be much more enjoyable if it was the Congo Falls on Viagra like Snake River Falls at CP, that one gets you so wet it has to be good.... for 6 times in a row on a 70* day after slight drizzle. Ok I'm crazy.
  4. They aren't making "new changes" to the fountain. It will be the same old fountain, just got new pipes and pumps. In the process they had to rip all the old concrete up to replace them.
  5. Usually they will contact you after they have printed it out and gone over it. Though if you just did it a day or so ago it might take them a while since they are prepairing for the Job Fair. I would go ahead go to the job fair that way you can be interviewed and get a position before a lot are filled up tomorrow.
  6. Trader, you have always been able to swipe the "barcode" side of the ID. The magnetic strip did nothing for you. I think it did for full time employees, though not sure. Since the swipe on the registers reads "magnetic strips", like those on credit cards and the other half of the ID, they had to reprint my friend's ID cause they just started programming the magnetic strip as well.
  7. Ok, if you're an idiot, you won't always get a job in food. Ecology yes. I for one (yes I do some of the interviewing) won't hire someone unless they can perform every aspect of the job description that is given to them.
  8. Yeah they talked about everyone having to wear the ID's on them last year so that if you are in a back area it is easily noticable if you work for the park. I have yet to get a new ID for this year (still disputing with people) so I don't know what they are doing completely. I do know that if you received your ID on returners weekend and will be working in a location with a register you will need to get a new ID because you will be using it to log in. (Finally they have listened to me. Well don't know if it was from my complaining but I've been saying they needed to do that for years)
  9. I like the new look, The fonts are different giving it a more "hip" look. Kings Island also has a new logo, like I said it is on their new commercials. I never liked the way they had "Kings Island" written. Being flat across the top then arching up on the underside. Now the whole word is slightly arched. This most likely means some changes for the park appearance as well. We may possibly see the new logo as we enter the park along with the addition of the new fountains. Though I wonder if they will finally fix their sign in the parking lot. Changing the logo on it would most likely mean a whole new sign, which would finally fix the light up Marque that seems to only "half work" all summer long. This also means there might be a change in name tags park wide as well. These changes may all be done by the begining of the season or my slowly change through out the year. Then again, they may choose not to do anything at all.
  10. Aparently Paramount is changing their logo. As many have seen over the years, they had a Mountain with a ring of stars over the top. Well those stars just got better. Starting from the right, they will still arch over the mountain but now they will get closer. These new logos can be seen on Paramount's Great America and Paramount's Canada's Wonderland websites. The other parks and the main Paramount Parks website have not yet updated the logo. However, it will be a corporate wide change. The new PKI commercial that was unveiled recently to attract employees uses the new logo as well. What do you think of the new change?
  11. Took me a while too. I'm still kinda iffy about those rides. The drawing for the one at PCW looks scary. Not scary as in, "Huss Jump2 1 looks too intense" but it looks like an over grown scorpion or some other invertibre.
  12. Hence the reason I've been trying to get at for why there is "NO LOCKING DEVICE" on this ride. To much weight in that arm for anything "humanly possible" to move it until that motor turns on.
  13. Again by the weight this is what I meant: Knowing motors and other devices, they don't generally rotate freely, there is always some resistance. Thus with all this weight of the arm and the people getting on/off I doubt there would be enough force to "rotate" the arm any signifcant amount that any locking would even be necessary. If so, it will most likely be done up in the motor, basically putting it in "park" like you do with your car (if its an automatic, leaving in gear if manual). I'm sure that if there is any movement it will be through such a small angle that it is not noticable unless you extend that arm to about a miles length. (Machine design and geometry kicking in here) Not sure what post, if even on this forum (it may be CBuzz) where someone mentions that Huss is making this floor "drop and seperate". Thus the hydrolics are there to move that floor down and out not to be moving any "locking mechanism". Disclaimer: I have no idea how this ride is going to turn out in the end but I just don't see a need for any "locking device" on the ride.
  14. Me either, but we thought it would be fun to throw stuff around and act in a "chain" to move stuff around like they do with the fish in the video but my full timer didn't think it was funny when he came in. I guess it was cause the last person was chucking the apples as hard as he could into the side of the dumpster. Good thing he didn't come while we were playing baseball with them using a 2x4.
  15. I don't know what video you got to see, cause I was never shown that video. I even did food service training a couple years ago but never heard of that video. Sure would like to see it. Gotta see F.I.S.H., got a copy of that too.
  16. Profits were good in food service. We beat our goals yet again. Though we always do great, so I can't really talk for the other departments.
  17. Yeah I meant that the cage looking this is part of the floor, which is opperated by hydrolic pumps, so that would be part of the pumps. However, from the weight of that arm I don't think there will be anything coming up to "lock" it in place while loading/unloading. If there is anything that does that, it will all be done up in the motor at the top of the ride.
  18. The thing that is wrapped up is part of that metal caging looking stuff on the truck. One of the other pictures I think you can see them lowering it into the hole. It seems that is the stuff for the retractable loading platform.
  19. It is pumped up from that lake to the upper most part of the "chute" and i'm sure is cleaned inthere while pumping through.
  20. Sparky... did your people not "double bag" for your protection? In food we always use two trash bags so that we don't get the ripping of the bag half way to the dumpster. If its light enough we just change one bag. They are so cheap it doesn't matter. Though if you did use two bags then I know why. The park changed to a thinner trash bag this year to "reduce costs" even more. Though enough food people complained we are supposed to be getting that fixed back to the thicker bags. By the way, you having seen trash juice until you've been to the picnic grove and you throw away all the left over food and empty those trash cans.
  21. Though didn't Dave Mandt say that the new 2003 things will NOT include the land clearing mentioned by Jeff. Plus what can you put back there, only a little bit farther and that land drops almost straight down into the ravine.
  22. The person never said they were in marketing for 12 years at Kings Island. They said 12 years total, so you never know.
  23. Unfortunetly Ohio law does not require seasonal jobs to get overtime. So obviously Kings Island isn't going to give it to you. However, if we all worked down at our sister park Paramount's Carowinds, I for one would be raking in the dough with all that overtime. Since their park lies in two states they have to do things differently on each side. (eg, one side a 16 year old can drive the coasters, the other side the driver must be 18) There is one law though that applies to both sides, since people will often work through out the park. That law is the overtime law. North Carolina doesn't require it much like Ohio, but South Carolina does. So every person at Carowinds (including the seasonal associates) get paid overtime after 8 hours. Boy how nice that would be.
  24. Hence the reason I did not want that water in the ride. Did you also know that the water in the lake in front of the unused section of the Antique Cars comes from the storm drains behind magilla's and wings and he other places that feed the "water fall" in front of the train station.
  25. They control the level of water with that little lake whatever back there don't they? I know there is a wall with a huge gate on it but I really don't want that water behind the gate in the ride.
