  1. Probably because the park got cheap on wardrobe this year and didn't want to buy a bunch of new shirts to just give out again. When I started in 98 they used to give us cool gifts during employee apreciation week, but I don't remember getting anything this year. In 98 when it was hotter than crap we all got huge insulated mugs that said "I beat the heat in 98" and had The Beast logo on it so we could use it to drink water and stuff.
  2. Almost two hour wait opening night.
  3. Yeah, it is a huge lightning rod, same with Drop Zone. Keeps the rest of us in the park safe.
  4. I have 4 Fearfest shirts in two different designs. 3 of the black ones with the glow in the dark ink in Medium, Large, and X-tra Large then I also have a white one I got last year as a door prize for the end of year food party. Its white with black ink instead of the glow in the dark and has LaRosa's and the sponsors on the back. The first year Fearfest was open we also got this clear ID holder and paper Name Badge with the fearfest logo on it that we wore around our necks. I still have that somewhere around as well.

    Food Prices

Yeah they are sorta outragous but its an amusement park. They know people can leave and go down the street for Wendy's or what not. They also know that most people won't want to leave since they would most likely have to park really far away. Also if there are big groups that seperate they won't all get back together to leave agree on a place to eat and then go and come back, just to difficult and time consuming. Its pretty smart because the majority of the people are going to either see something they want when they are hungry and go for it, or kids will annoy their parents until they buy it for them. So why shouldn't the park charge higher for it, the people are hungry and thirsty after standing in line for a long time and want something quick, so there will be a "amusement park tax". However, I do the same and just don't eat that much at the park. I eat before and after and get a small snack or something during the day to tide me over. I'm a poor college kid, I'm not going to pay those prices.

Cedar Point is over $40. They are big parks so in comparison its ok. I don't think I would make too many visits there if I didn't work there or if I didn't have a season pass.
  7. The lines on the weekends at the very begining of the season aren't all that long. Heck, you go some of those early April weekends when its still 50 degrees outside and a slight mist, no one will be in the park and its a walk on for everything.
  8. Delirium will be my first stop, unless that smell of Chinese food stops me on the way to Action Zone.
  9. Why would Skyline be mad. The two restuarants don't serve the same menu items. Plus, Skyline doesn't care that Larosa's or Montgomery Inn are in the park and they are other food chains.
  10. From what I hear, this is becoming reality. However, don't expect to eat there opening day. It seems the place will be closed until May/June while they change the building. Oh yeah, does anyone like Subway or Chinese Food? You may be seeing those items this year in the park as well.
  11. The bases definetly looked all white. Doesn't mean they won't be painted more later.
  12. I'd just like to update everyone about the fountains. I didn't wonder onto international street during returner weekend, but the fountain bases (the big white things) where sitting out in the picnic grove and have been repainted waiting to be reinstalled.
  13. Of course I will be there. I just don't know if I'll be working or riding rides.
  14. From what I've been told the job fairs are the first two weekends of February. They usually run from 9am-5pm or something like that. There is usually free chips, pretzels and soft drinks, occasionally some pizza. I would say you best bet is to get there early no matter what. The longer you wait to get there the more people show up. There have been times when people have had to wait hours just to interview after they have filled out an application. Not sure about rides, but in food you are usually asked where you would like to work then we will go see if there is an opening there or not. If so its yours, if not we will ask a second option unless you just don't care and we will pick. I'm sure rides is the same. We have a quota to meet for each locations that we must meet in order to run and once those are met they will even everything out.
  15. I found construction photos of The Beast somewhere. I will try to find the link first. If i can't find it I will just post them on here. There are construction pictures of Son of Beast on Coaster Quest that were given from Kings Island.
  16. I added more photos of today with snow coming down. I also added a few closer shots from the previous days. The digital camera just doesn't get in as close as the SLR zoom lens. Enjoy!
  17. Lost that lovin feeling is the one I meant. It went along well like in the scene of the movie. They were all eating then one person started singing sooner or later everyone was singing along.
  18. That reminds me of a funny story. Back five years ago when I first started working at KI, I worked at Oscars the employee cafeteria. One day some Top Gun workers came in. (Back then they had the Top Gun jump suits) Someone started singing the song in the movie, I don't know the name of it. Soon after just about everyone in the place was singing along.
  19. Its not just Jeff or the park itself. You have to think of the size of the venue. Why would a huge band come and play in such a small amphitheatre when they could play down at Riverbend. At least there they can pack people into the lawn and throw a huge party. The bands are money hungry and want to get as many people into the place that they can get. I would like to see bigger groups or what not in the park, that would make a memorable day but I'm not sure if its going to happen.
  20. "I want to go on something more thrilling than Eifel Tower" - why not just go on Drop Zone to see the whole park cover in snow, and since you have to walk past the fountains to get there you can check it out at the same time. There you go, two birds, one stone.. err whatever.
  21. Its been talked about inside the park as well. Though the food sups that were given that stand for 2003 are still being told it is oktoberfest gardens, doesn't mean though that they aren't changing it.
  22. I've been dying to ride The Beast like crazy. So much darkness at night, so much time for awsome rides. That and I'm really wishing it was April so I can ride Delirium.
  23. Yup. I live right down the street and I pass it every day on the way home from UC.
  24. OK, the sinking due to weight makes sense, but that is the only reason so far that i've heard that does. Thus the little feet would allow the poles and footers to rotate while still standing. I can agree with that fact only.
  25. I still don't like the feet. You are pretty much taking the entire weight of the supoorts and placing it on the connecting pin (though it may be huge) cause such a huge shear force that with swinging and twisting I'm affraid will fracture. Why allow variances, how many coaster supports do you see with these types of feet or on the track to allow for variance. Those things are eliminated before production and tested before shipping. I just am going to be weary about them supporting the whole thing. Oh yeah, the rest of the arm and the legs, along with arm's rotating mechnism have arrive today. Check it out.
