Given how ineffective internet petitions are and given the general effectiveness of complaints to Guest Relations this year, the only thing Cedar Fair Entertainment Company is going to listen to with regard to food prices is if the guests "Just say no." Petitions really don't matter. If people put their money somewhere else when it comes to where there mouth is, Cedar Fair (or whoever runs the parks) will get the message. Perhaps they already are getting the message...

Cedar Fair is one park that does listen to the people so by signing this it will get noticed by the powers that be! Thanks Interpeter for your support.I want to make sure they get the message load and clear!

Actually, Interpreter is correct. On-line petitions don't go anywhere...see the petition to keep the Flying Eagles ride at KI. A better way to vote is to eat in your car and not inside the park. They will get the message then. Cedar Fair is the corporation that owns the parks. Cedar Point is the actual name of the park you are referring to.

Actions definately speak louder than words.

Take a recent example. CBS cancelled Jericho after just one season. The fans were angry and tried everything that they could to change CBS's mind about their decision. They tried online petitions, but the one thing that ultimately changed the minds of the CBS executives was that the Jericho fans united and sent 28,000 pounds of peanuts to the executive offices. To make a long story short, CBS reversed their decision and signed Jericho up for an additional 7 episodes this year.

I am not saying that we should all unite and send thousands of pounds of nuts to Cedar Fair or KI executives. Frankly I don't think that would work. What guests can do is pack their lunch, and eat in the parking lot, or go down the street to McDonald's or else where. Boycott the food services at KI if you want yourselves to be known. Silly online petitions will do you no good.

Good luck in your fight!

Ok from previous experience in the business I have found that a tactic like this is to generate revenue quickly. Next year we may see lower prices we may not. CF has said that they are following Paramounts guidelines as far as retail profits which outline a high total profit, not necessarily high per-caps and looking at Six Flags when they initiated this in all of their parks last summer revenue skyrocketed while percaps stayed the same or suffered so there ya go, I dont think it will change, frankly because it works, now if they ever decide to switch over to the per cap method like the other CF parks I can see prices going down.

uh...Mr. Kinzel has adopted the CBS pricing strategy at ALL Cedar Fair parks. A large soda at Cedar Point is $3.99, for example.

And food and drink prices did NOT escalate markedly at Six Flags last year (though day parking DID). Messrs Shapiro and Snyder have a quite different strategy than Mr. Kinzel and company.

Wet N Wild Emerald Pointe has a picnic area(FREE) for people that don't want to eat in the park, they however will hold your cooler for a day for a fee of get this a (1) US dollar! I don't get the reason why WNWEP put it in, as it would seem they would be losing money, but it seems like that would be the way Cedar Fair would combat people eating in the parking lot. I would rather pay 4 dollars for a Happy Days milkshake than pay 2 for crappy McDonalds one.

Oh I did not not know that was a whole CF thing my bad I thought they were just keeping it with the former Paramount parks.

And YES prices did escalate at Six Flags last year as I worked for Six Flags last summer and saw seasonal and annual profit per cap reports for most of the parks.

Going a little off topic...

I've only seen a few episodes of Jericho, but have read quite a bit about the fan fight to keep it on the air. However, the one thing I've never understood--what did peanuts have to do with the show?

The reason for the nuts is based on something a Jericho character, Jake, said when New Bern's commander asked him and the town to surrender at the end of the season finale. He said "Nuts!" That also happens to be a famous response given by WWII Gen. MacAuliffe when asked to surrender at the Battle of the Bulge.

Ahhh--thanks. I had wondered about the meaning, but have never saw it explained anywhere before.

Cedar Fair is in debt, Cedar Fair doesnt listen to their guests or employees, Cedar Fair is not the company it was even 5 years ago. Cedar Fair needs money and Cedar Fair will not listen to an internet petition to just lower food prices, theyll keep raising them untill eventually people stop eating in the parks. like KIBeast said, a more effective protest would be not buying or eating in park food.

And the real reason that Jericho is back?

Nothing else to fit on the schedule.

Simple fact is that ratings are what drives a show to stay on the air.

If there is nothing else available to generate the same amount of ad revenue.....

Someone hurled on your car because of the trash in the parking lot at the end of the night?

Boy, do they have a weak stomach.
