jzarley
http://www.styleweekly.com/article.asp?idarticle=14768 That was a really good article...that guy can certainly turn a phrase. (His description of his "encounter" with Huckleberry Hound was so well written that I could practically picture it.) Of course, he got the age of the girl in the accident at SFKK wrong, but I'll overlook a simple factual error in what was otherwise a really enjoyable article. Scooby_Doo
That guy sounds like a total jackass what person would pick a fight with a cartoon character they are at the park(s) to make your visit more enjoyable for you or your family now if ya pick a fight w/ anyone at a theme/amusement park you can go to jail or worse!...oh yeah it DOES get hot in those suits just wanted to add that in I noticed that he got the age of the little girl wrong aswell... welchce
what person would pick a fight with a cartoon character they are at the park(s) to make your visit more enjoyable for you or your family Apparently a 10 year old male from Virgina in the early 80's. And I wouldn't necessarily call a kid who couldn't watch Saturday morning cartoons for a year because of this incident a jackass. He obviously felt bad about it. Theres no doubt that he shouldn't have done it but you shouldn't make a hasty generalization about a guy on something that happened over 20 years ago. Otherwise it was a good article. jzarley
Yeah...it's not like this guy got into a fight with Huckleberry Hound last week. Personally, I can think of quite a few "jack ass" things I did when I was ten...(and, even older! ) I looked at it more as a "coming of age" type story. I found it interesting how his memories of KD as a child interact with the reality of the theme park business today.

jzarley
Yeah, ok... It was a fluff piece from a Sunday paper lifestyle magazine. I probably wouldn't get too riled up over it.
KIBeast
I agree with Scooby. Sounds like a real a-hole to me. I did stupid things when I was 10. However, violence was not involved.
teenageninja
It was a dumb thing to do, but not as dumb as some of the things I've done in my life. He got his for doing it, it's not that big of a deal.
jzarley
And, suprisingly enough, wasn't what the article was about to begin with... Of course, I don't think Moby Dick is really about a whale either.

Browntggrr
Intresting article. I would just make the suggestion to the writer to expand his horizons to other big parks. It was easy to tell that he does not frequent parks often.
jzarley
^ That's actually what I liked about it. This guy is clearly not a park enthusiast (he hadn't even been to his home park in years), so it gives a glimpse into how the average member of the GP thinks about things. Most people can't tell (or care about) the difference between a B&M and an Intamin, or an S-curve and an a banked turn. I think those of us who participate in these enthusiasts boards tend to lose sight that most people don't find these things nearly as interesting as we do. However, it's these non-enthusiast members of the GP that make up the main customer demographic of the parks, so I think it's useful to hear that perspective. I don't know...maybe I'm overthinking it, but I actually prefer hearing a non-enthusiast's thoughts on these kind of things most of the time. Guest kwindshawne
The guy learned his lesson, however, in today's age, the character wouldn't have gotten away with the retaliation even if it was justified. He would have been sued or worse.
