Whats the funniest rumor youv'e ever heard?

Ok if ya wanna consider dead days when even if ya put everyone in the park into a line and the ride would still only be a 10 minute wait, then yeah Son of Beast is not popular, but then by the same logic no ride at KI (except FH) is popular

Posted

Son of Beast always has a long line. That has NOTHING to do with popularity. I've been on this site for a year and a half, and I can't remember how many times we've had this discussion. There are a number of things that affect lines, namely hourly capacity. Son of Beast's happens to be 1,000 PPH. If you went around judging rides by their lines, then heck, Rugrats Runaway Reptar would be an extremely popular ride! If you judged Diamondback's popularity by it's line, then unless you were there on opening day you'd say it was middle of the road popular. I don't know how many ways I can say it. You can NOT judge popularity by line length.

Well, actually you can. You might not come to an accurate conclusion, but you can, for example, judge the popularity of Kings Island based on the number of green cars in the parking lot. Being able to do something is different than being able to do something accurately. One can do a lot of things that aren't right. One can run red lights, speed, feed arsenic to neighborhood dogs, line jump at Kings Island, etc. Wouldn't be right, but one can do it.

So Jackson your saying having people in line to ride the Son of Beast is no way to judge the ride popularity, then what makes a ride popular since your saying people do not make the ride popular? The ride would not have a long line at all if people did not like it.

I only wish SoB currently ran with a capacity of 1000 pph... fondly remembering 3 trains, loops, and fast moving lines. Last time I checked it (last season), capacity was well less than 500

Edit: Corrected typo, capacity # should have said less than 500

Not at all. I am simply saying that a long line does not necessarily mean a popular ride, and a short line does not necessarily mean an unpopular ride. Of course, there would be no one in line if it was not popular, but a short line isn't a fair judgement of a ride's popularity. I assume you've ridden Adventure Express, correct? How many times have you seen it's line go out of the station? Now try and tell me it's an unpopular ride. The same goes for any ride.

And to Terpy: Well said.

I know Angie mentioned this in her TR, but while in line for Diamondback we heard people talking about how they were dismantling Vortex and moving it this year. On the same day they said that Blue Racer was shut down because someone had just fallen out of it and died. I just think it's funny when people are constantly talking about people dying/falling out of rides....do they not think there would be some kind of ensuing panic over it? Some news stories about it? The tiny golf cart/ambulance coming? Anything?

LOL, that is one thing I love about waiting in line. The lovely stories you hear.

I think it's absolutely hilarious how people are scared out of their minds about dying on these rides, when really they are far safer then the cars they drove to the park in!

It's also the same with airplanes.

On the first post I posted here, I wanted to know if a rumor about someone falling out of SOB and dying was true or not. That one's pretty funny, now that I think about it.

my aunt compairing the hellavator at sfkk to droptower at ki, and not wanting my cousin to ride it after hearing that the cable snapped on hllvtr cutting off some girls foot.

I heard this rumor at the park a long time ago: "The land Vortex sits on is haunted because people died on the ride that used to be here, The Bat."

^ That is probably the funniest one I've heard in a while! hahaha! I literally just laughed out loud!

HTCO, who doesn't use the term LOL at all.. hehe :)

Here's another one, this time between me and my Mom. We were in Flight Deck's station.

Mom: "What year did this ride open?"

Me: "1993"

Mom: "So they kept The Bat in storage for 9 years?"

Me: "No, this isn't The Bat! See how the track is banked?"

Mom: "I don't care what you say, this ride is The Bat! I'm not going on this d*mn thing!"

I've herd the exact same one except they said "The Beast", not "The Bat".

Because The Beast was torn down in 1984 and was never right next to Vortex...

Son of Beast never ran three trains, and to me it seems like the same amount of time waiting in line.

Put more accurately, Son of Beast has not operated with three trains simultaneously while the ride was open to the general public.

Terpy, who, once again, has come very, very close to saying too much, but hasn't...maybe...

I stand corrected on the three trains (I guess sometimes you remember the good old days better than they actually were), but the capacity is still significantly reduced from when the ride opened. Old trains at one point held 36 people, new trains hold 24. For such a major ride, the capacity is tiny.

so did they try to run it with three trains, sorta like x-flight?

I was watching a Youtube video that was basically a "tribute" to now-gone coasters at Kings Island.

Random comment on that video: "They're tearing down The Racers and replacing them with steel"

In line for Diamondback on opening day, the girl in front of us said that Ashton Kutcher had ridden the ride the day before during the press event. That's the only time I heard anything about it.
