jdawg1998 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I can't even ride Diamondback during Halloween Haunt. It's so cold! I feel like I will get frostbite in forty degree weather.
Elkman Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I can't even ride Diamondback during Halloween Haunt. It's so cold! I feel like I will get frostbite in forty degree weather. I've known people to get hypothermia in eighty degree weather.
ohiocolts Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Someone said they are tearing down Vortex for 2012, and probably FOF, to get something new. I also heard somebody fell out of Drop Tower and somebody died on SOB.
Dan Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Someone said they are tearing down Vortex for 2012, and probably FOF, to get something new. I also heard somebody fell out of Drop Tower and somebody died on SOB. This one is correct, and is why they took out the loop.
CoasterGeek101 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Well, I remember riding Diamondback at its minimum riding temperature, which I heard was like 41? Right? It was 11 at night at the end of october and my phone said it was 42 outside. It was not that bad actually!
The Interpreter Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Someone said they are tearing down Vortex for 2012, and probably FOF, to get something new. I also heard somebody fell out of Drop Tower and somebody died on SOB. This one is correct, and is why they took out the loop. No one has died on Son of Beast. The loop was removed to reduce wear and tear on the structure. 1
jdawg1998 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 This isn't a rumor, but I hate these liars at Kings Island I overhear. Things like, "Oh, dude! (pointing at a ride) I rode that when I was (age)." Even though it wasn't even open then. Happens all the time when I'm at the park...
ohiocolts Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 The rumor I heard even gets another believer right here on KIC.
TromaKing Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I heard that they took the loop out of the Son of The Beast because I died halfway through the loop. Oh wait.......
BB1 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I also have heard from many sources that Winterfest may return in the next few years..

Wait, how can you know how old THEY are, one person could be 32 and look 27, don't ever make the mistake of asking....
thunderbeast1968 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Someone told me that they were running The Beast with reversed trains. I first thought, that might be fun, but then my brain kicked in and I thought, That might be a little rough. Not knowing whats coming up next. Funny rumor though?
Jr for Birdy Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 When i was a kid and The Bat was still alive i heard from my dad, kids at school, community, that someone died on The Bat. Not a funny rumor but everyone denies this now but back then i was convinced when everyone was talking about it.

Funny rumor though? just like riding Adventure Express in the dark, ouch
kingsrattler Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I once heard a rumor that Son of Beast is collapsing. It was pretty funny.
Browntggrr Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I once heard a rumor that Son of Beast is collapsing. It was pretty funny. You can see it all while enjoying FD. 1
westcoaster Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 SOB is sinking oh my not only Vortex but SOB? whats next?
kingsrattler Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 "Drop Tower, now 200 feet tall! (height subject to change due to sinking)"
LongliveKingsCobra Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I've often wondered if it would be possible for the WWC boats could flip over...
The Interpreter Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Yes, it is possible. It's happened elsewhere. Rider misconduct is usually the cause.
Diamondbacker Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Here's a rumor I've seen, right here on our beloved KICentral. On The Vortex ride page, apparently the commenters believe that the ride is being taken down and replaced.

jandyb79 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but one crazy rumor that got around about 9 or 10 years ago was that King Cobra was removed because the park could no longer order parts from Togo. Several wondered why this rumor kept going around and it turns out that the park orientation instructors were the source.
flightoffear1996 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 ^ Im going to start a rumor that Diamondback will be removed. Sooner or later it will happen
SonofBaconator Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Racer being torn down. That's what one of my friends said about Racer is going to get torn down. I don't think they will because of various reasons. It was one of the first rides in the park. It was the first twin coaster. The length of it is about the length of the front gate to Vortex so Kings Island would have to make a coaster that would fit tightly in the space racer now sits. plus it divides some sections of the park and it would just look tacky without it.
The Interpreter Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Huh? Grand National. Ingersol's Racer at Kennywood in the early 1900's. Just two off the top of my head. No way was Racer the first twin racing coaster.
KI FANATIC 37 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It would certainly be possible to quantify "death's per day on roller coasters" just as we quantify "member posts per day" on a forum. The result however would not even be close to being an integer. I looked it up an it said approximately 12 people die a year from coasters, (this includes not following safety rules, or deaths due to the ride even if they die some time after the ride.) So that would equal .033 (repeating) deaths a day by rollercoasters. Doesnt seem too likely...
