A case of an employee saying the darnest thing... Around 1pm, on a rather busy day, a deer was running through the park, close to where Diamondback is now. A security officer happened to see this, ke

sunday while standing in line for Flight of Fear:

guy: Flight of Fear was installed in '82, then back in '07 they installed Firehawk to make the ride longer.

same guy: Son of Beast was removed last year.

girl w/ guy: no it wasn't, it's still standing.

guy:(to employee at height check station) didn't you take out Son of Beast last year?

employee: umm... no, Son of Beast is still standing.

guy: well, it isn't on the map.

Some people really need to be smacked in the head, lol.

I forgot about this one last night.

Lady with her family. Her daughter wants to do surf dog, she does not. "You go ahead and ride it, I will sit here next to Mickey"

While coming back into the station on Beast I overhear...

"That's why it's the longest wooden coaster, because it takes so long to go up the first hill."

Apparently, the amount of feet you travel has nothing to do with it. It is the amount of time you spend on the lift hill....

Some lady at the Diamondback gift shop said that Vortex was 400 ft tall. I jumped on her real quick. Lol.

I've made that same joke in these forums before.

And, when you leave the station, you often hear "enjoy your 4 minute, 50 second ride on The Beast, the worlds longest wooden roller coaster" or something similar. I can understand the confusion.

Girl on WWC,"Paramount sold KI to Cedar Fair which is owned by Six Flags".

This happened today as a group approached the Diamondback separator

Separator: "How Many"

Girl: "3"

Separator: "2 in row 1, 1 in row 2"

Girl: "Can we go somewhere else - I don't want to ride in the front"

Separator: "what, huh, ok, well, 2 in row 3, 1 in row 4" then looks at me "single rider row 4"

Who turns down row 1 and 2 on Diamondback?

Several times during Adventure Express-

Guy sittng behind us to his friend: painful noises....more painful noises...you're never dragging me on another wooden coaster again!

Guy at gold pass parking where I was this morning...

ME: Sir, Can I see your gold pass??.

Him: I don't have a gold pass.

Me:well, then you need t

o turn around.

He gets angry and drives off cursing me.

Moral is: people WILL NOT time to read and understand and yet they get mad at me...Like it my fault you cannot take time and have patientance to read the website.

Yes they do but instead of saying you need to turn around you could have explained to him why he had to turn around and how that was reserved parking. A lot of people do not read signs nor do they go to websites. Not everyone is in the web world as we know it.

I felt so bad for these kids

"Let's go ride Son of Beast!"

The other two were so enthusiastic, sprinting towards it (this was right next to Delirium).

I didn't see what they did when they found out it was closed, but it made me feel bad

:P

That was kinda my point to the poster above. We have to remember especially employees not everyone who visits the park is a enthusiast such as most of us are. That made me feel bad also cincyman98sad.gif

Various people and times in Planet Snoopy:

Young girl: I want to ride Reptar next

Young boy: There is Avatar; we rode that last time

Mom to kids: Here is the Scooby Doo ride

The Scooby Doo ride will forever be to me the ride I made my parents wait over an hour for a small swinging coaster.

I'm so mean to my family. But these two things are funny.

Today, my mom points to Son of Beast and says - "Is that The Racer?" even when she's ridden The Racer before. I think the heat made us feel weird.

Several years ago, my dad was waiting in line for Rock n' Roller Coaster at Disney World (I wasn't tall enough to ride), and my Grandma was watching me. The guitar that goes out from the logo to the entrance was right above us, and my grandma says, "Hey, we'll be able to see them come out!"

Today, while I was waiting in FoF's loading area:

*guy in front of me watches train launch, then another, empty train enters the station, then turns around and asks me...*

"So, what, is this ride 30 seconds long or something?"

I may have said this 1 before i forget but literally(about 15 times so far this season) every time i ride crypt someone asks me or i hear someone say is this a roller coaster?

^ That is not strange whatsoever. There are many who do not know. Not everyone who visits KI has been there before or even into the rides like most of us here are.

Theme parks as well as Amusement parks and even Fairs for that matter have lost the luster they used to hold for many of us. Back when I was small these places were so magical. But after going there 30+ years and learning the ways of the jedi so to speak it is not so much as thrilling anymore.

Please do not get me wrong I have a strong passion for parks of this nature but every year many many many patrons visit these places without the knowledge or experience most of us have.

yea i just thought funny cause its been there 10 years though i guess alot of people come from out of state who never rode it

I seem to explain the ride a lot, and that is not even in it's queue. I find describing the ride very hard, for people don't understand "Giant Top Spin."

Not only that but also locals. Not everyone is a park fan.

To amplify Purplehaze, just look at the number of people with park maps in their hands trying to figure out where they are going. I always watch this every time I am there.

Thats why you don't use the term "Giant Top Spin." I don't think its really that hard to explain how it works to people. I have been able to before. Although, now I just tell them its lame. biggrin.gif

And at Six Flags America, that's me! No matter how many times I go to that place, I can always get lost there. More than once, I have asked a nice security guard to please escort me to the front gate. One can stand at one coaster, see another, and consult the map and still not figure out how to get there. Or at least, I can't.

I love the place, but I cannot find my way around it.

Then there's Kings Dominion, so eerily familiar, and yet so...wrong.

And California's Great America, so very, very like Six Flags Great America, except for when it isn't.

But the very first time I went to Great Adventure, I could find my way around as though I had been going there all my life. Go figure.

That was my point, I don't use Giant Top Spin in my description, but I do find it hard when people always seem to assume it is a roller coaster. Once I think they understand the description I tell them that it is a Giant Top Spin and that usually makes sense to them.

I also never give my opinion of the ride unless they ask for it. I don't want to cloud their opinion with mine before they ride it, especially if I am not a big fan of the ride. They may love it, and I would not want them to not experience it because of my opinion. I always encourage ridding so they can form an opinion for themselves.
