lil lynn
I was at KI on Mother's day. I have a Platinum Pass, I asked the employee who checks your pass for free parking or paid parking what exactly the special parking was up near the front of the park entrance to the left. The employee proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to park there I had to pay $5. My ? is, who exactly does park there and can't platinum passholders park there? I don't mind the walk from GP parking and could use the walk but I never see that lot full. Thanks so much.
Dane
Your platinum pass is only a gold pass at Kings Island, entitling you to free parking and the ability to park in the gold pass parking. The area opposite the handicapped parking is for people who pay $15 dollars to park there. Hence the reason you would have had to pay a extra $5 to park there. I guess I don't mind the walk when the food is so overpriced, why would I want to pay $5 more to park in a special zone? My kids can walk too, they don't know we used to have trams. CP has never had trams. Thx for letting me know.
BoddaH1994
Walking from the Gold Pass Lot really isn't that much farther than the premium parking.
The Interpreter
And before someone says Cedar Fair put in premium parking in order to help pay off its tremendous debt, it was Paramount who put in the premium parking....
Emily
I will be taking my grandma with me when we go soon. She is handicapped and uses a wheelchair. Where is the handicapped parking in relation to the Premuim parking and or Gold Parking. I have a Platinum pass, so where would be the closest for me to park?
BoddaH1994
If you have a handicap sticker then you can park in the handicap lot, which is immediately to the right of the Preferred Parking area when facing the park.
The Interpreter
And more specifically, handicapped parking is closest to the gate and has the appropriate, barrier free surfaces.... other spaces may prove to be less than acceptable parking for a wheelchair user... If you want over priced parking come on over to SFGam General parking = $25 Value parking $15 for the overflow lot
The Interpreter
On the other hand, your Six Flags parking pass is good at every Six Flags park (except Kentucky Kingdom, where they don't own the lot). To get a similar deal from Cedar Fair, one must buy a Platinum Pass, currently $150....
luff
Using the current pricing for Six Flags Great America. Individual Season pass $89.99. Parking pass Add on $65 That is $154.99...
The Interpreter
But...at Six Flags, arguably only one person in the family needs a parking pass--but that person must be in the car to get "free" parking....at Cedar Fair, if you want to go to other parks than your home park, you MUST have a Platinum Pass for each member of the family. Not to mention that the season pass prices at both chains were less before the season got into full swing. That's the nature of the business. Both chains have their quirks. KI-ORIG-EMP
Did any gold pass holders see the person checking the passes at the gold pass lot Saturday afternoon between 3 and 6PM? That was me wearing the bright lime green shirt. I had one person that showed me their parking reciept for the preferred lot and they thought that this was the preferred lot. I said that the preferred lot was to the left of the main entrance on the other side of the handicap lot. I have read several messages in the past about the gold pass lot not having anyone checking for passes. I can assure you that I turned away several cars that did not have a gold or platinum passes. hamoperator
The Gold Pass lot isn't special anymore, anyone, everyone and their brothers park there, there are no employees stationed there to look at ID's when parking.

Just like everything else that used to be a park rule (for example, line jumping, smoking, etc.)
hamoperator
Did you not just read the post right before yours? It makes your post seem quite silly! NOT silly when there was no employee standing there, hasn't been an employee there all season.
CoastersRZ
That is a very broad and very incorrect statement. The reason I said you post was silly was because the person who posted immediately before you said that he was working the Gold Pass parking booth checking for passes. And I have seen numerous times on my visits to the park this year them checking for gold passes. To say that there hasn`t been an employee checking passes all season is an incorrect generalization. To say what you have seen is one thing to but to apply what you have seen to all times (including times where the opposite has happened) is "quite silly." Now if you have actually watched the booth to the entrance of the Gold Pass lot all season, then you can say... there was no employee standing there, hasn't been an employee there all season. But obviously you haven't been watching that booth all season because we have an employee saying that they were in fact there for 3 hours the other day and an outside source saying they have seen people checking on more than one occasion. BavarianBeatle
We have been to the park fifteen times this season. My pass has been checked at that lot twice. One of those was on opening day, so, since then it has been once out of fourteen times.
welchce
What times have you been entering the park? I have only gotten my pass checked on opening day as well but that was the only time I've entered the park before 5 pm.
BavarianBeatle
It's been after 5 every Friday, but at various other times on the weekends, from around 11:00 am, to 3:00 p.m.

NOT silly when there was no employee standing there, hasn't been an employee there all season. I was there working this past Saturday. I am hard to miss. I stopped several that were either driving while eating or talking on their cell phone or they just did not look. I was standing in the road and waving my hand for you to show your pass and not waving hello. We wear the bright lime green polo's not because they are in style (NOT!) but so we can be seen. It's the same color that work crews wear while working on the road.
The Interpreter
...and the same color that ride operators have to wear this year at Six Flags....and most of them don't like it one little bit!
