The Interpreter
There were several different signs. Some of which dropped clues, some intentionally misled. When the doors of perception are cleansed things will appear as they truly are. Some people need some Windex And after it is announced, some will say: "I can see clearly now, the crane is gone..." Terpy, who just had to...

KIBeast
Doesn't anyone read any more? This is not going to be a dive machine! I know that old dead horse is tired of his daily beatings.
CoasterKrazy
I remember the poyurethane wheels and SunCor wood that Son of Beast was to have...the parking lot renovations that were to rival Universal, and then of course there is the incredible landscaping around what is now Backlot Stunt Coaster, which was planned to be far nicer than the rocky thing it is.... Interesting...where these things announced explicitly, or are they based on artists renderings and things of that nature?

You're forgetting my favorite-- "the lush tropical landscaping" at Boomerang Bay. I'm sure a lot of that boiled down to late budget cuts, but the hyerbole coming out of KI always seemed more extreme than the releases from the other Paramount Parks... I bet there's a lot of lush landscaping and "fantabulous, Hollywood-ized" attractions on their way to the Schlitterbahn even as we speak
ucgrady
Do you think its possible the 4200 ft is based on the lenth of the footprint, not the length of the track because it was measured from a plan perspective. maybe the fact that the ride will not be a flat projection but have hills will bump the length up closer to 5000, or maybe i just want it to be longer. robintodd
Not really a surprise, no news at all. First Drop magaizine had this back in November of 2007 (reported by screamscape). Seems the 3 turns could be mistaken as "loops" but other than that fits the article nicely. http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/4884/ki9745wb8.jpg Todd

Sounds reasonable to me. The vertical dimension certainly adds length to the track, which is not represented on a 2D overhead plan perspective (unless they use something like USGS countour lines to indicate vertical rise of the track). edit - what would be even better is if 4200' is indeed the length (or widest dimension) of the footprint itself - which would mean the track length must be at least 8400'. But I doubt that

RailRider
Yeah but Maverick information came out long before the Press Release. Maybe it is just how CF opperates now, just like we knew about XFlight coming long before it landed in the parking lot.

teenageninja
The first drop layout now seems to line up with what I've heard and the clearing behind TR:TR. If First Drop is saying over 5000 feet, the layout may only be going in horizontal dimension as we have speculated. It will be interesting to see how that final helix goes as it seems to be right where The Beast Ace landmark is.
UncleHenry
Still wish The Beast Hunter theme would have been used, PKIC Survivor anyone? If I do a 3rd season this winter, it will still be Congo. I have a good chunk of the plans finished. Who knows, applications just might start going out in a few months...

dare-to-fly
Bless this reporter for the nice "zap" for KI. "If you won't give us info, I'll look it up myself." I love it! At least we finally have some information! By the way, I love the "I can see clearly now, the crane has gone." Can we say, a classic Terpy-ism? mikejenkins1
Wow. I would have to say the First Drop article is almost right on still. Even the talk about the terrain and the valleys used for the first drops. Would put lots of money on that reliable source.

Vortexlover2
how do you know what classic terpy-ism is? you haven't been a member long enough to know the real classic terpy things... or whatever... actually I'm pretty sure I've been here longer than terpy and I still don't know what his "classics" are... anyways, whatever about the whole "to short thing" I was thinking of a different type of coaster. And really, looking at averages of how long the dive machines are... that's WAYYYY to long... vl2 edit- that first part was talking about 2 posts above me... welchce
I'm kind of stunned right now...finally...real details....3 loops!? Remember who wrote the article....think of them looking at a drawing on paper. Is a helix a loop? kjkjkj
Thats awesome! Who would have thought that the original plans we saw in the first drop magazine were the correct ones all along! I expect an announcement soon! I am so glad we got the behemoth style trains! They look really cool! This ride looks longer than 4,??? feet, doesn't it? Finally Kings Island will get a "first of its kind B&M" with the behemoth style trains AND a splashdown! It also doesn't look like it will interfere with The Beast at all, so thats good! Can't wait until the official announcement!
