BoddaH1994 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Looks like it may actually turn out to be a coaster... Quote
CoastersNSich Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Nooo... I thought that dark rides and Walmarts also used B&M track. Quote
WooferBearATL Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 A coaster? You're kidding? <G> The only one that has not acknowledged this fact has been the park. Heck, I think that even the Vatican beat KI on releasing this information. Quote
BoddaH1994 Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 I'm telling you... it's going to be a Wal-Mart. Quote
Captain Picard Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Think big, no real big Super Wal-Mart. Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 [edit]. I was being a show off. Cool to see the ride taking shape. Can't wait to ride. -Tb Quote
CoastersNSich Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Walmart has decided to relocate their world headquarters to Mason, OH. They are acquiring Kings Island, Cedar Fair, and are thus building the Walmart Tower. Quote
secondson Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 If I'm looking at those pictures correctly, there's an extra section to the layout that isn't shown in the overhead plans we saw in the Dayton Daily News. It looks like after the splashdown the coaster is going to curve up toward that section of ground near the walkway leading to the Eiffel Tower. Are there support foundations in that area? Quote
teenageninja Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 That's probably the transfer track to remove trains and add trains. Quote
secondson Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Never mind. I was misplacing the location of Vortex. Quote
iChase Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Sweet! I'm looking forward to seeing this for myself. Quote
Braves0511 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 when did you take those pictures/where? i was there two days ago and there was track lying around but no vertical construction that i saw, maybe i was looking in the wrong place? Quote
markalan Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I believe those first supports went up yesterday. Quote
DropZone99 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 In the first picture posted, some of the supports closest to the smoothie stand seem kinda high to be the break run/transfer track. Quote
secondson Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 In the first picture posted, some of the supports closest to the smoothie stand seem kinda high to be the break run/transfer track. That's kinda what threw me off at first, too - and why I started thinking after the splash down it was going to curve around up toward the Eiffel Tower direction. But I imagine that's how high the track will be at the station. After all, the blueprints show steps leading up to the loading platform. Quote
hausty1983 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 If thats true they should just put the lake back after the construction and if not let it be the way it is now, also the picture throws me off a lot also where the supports are high there hmmm...... Quote
BavarianBeatle Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Those higher supports are apparently for the roof of the station, while the lower ones are for the track, or floor. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Anyone remember how high Nitro's station is? http://www.rcdb.com/ig1106.htm?picture=2 Quote
tigellinus Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 ^^Don't you agree, 'terpy, it still feels weird loading Great Bear at the ground level!?! Quote
Phantom Theater Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Anyone remember how high Nitro's station is? http://www.rcdb.com/ig1106.htm?picture=2 Wow,thats kinda tall.I was their yesterday,I think I saw KI man working over their at the Basketball hoops by The Racer. Quote
The Interpreter Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 ^^Don't you agree, 'terpy, it still feels weird loading Great Bear at the ground level!?! Yes, but that whole coaster is so very, very strange. It runs as if it is in slow motion, it has very funky supports, and it feels like no other B and M. Needless to say, I love it. Then again, I adore SooperDooperLooper too! And Condor! Oh, let's be honest, I just love Hersheypark! Quote
secondson Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Those higher supports are apparently for the roof of the station, while the lower ones are for the track, or floor. Ohhhhhhhhh. Well that makes sense. Thanks! I was starting to think it was going to have a drop into the final curve before the station. Quote
vortexfan Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I think the higher supports are for the storage track. Similar to Behemoth's storage track: http://behemoth.canadaswonderland.com/publ...age&chip=43 Quote
Thane Of Price Hill Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I noticed this piece of the lift hill track in in the Swan Lake construction site: The rest of the photos I took this evening: http://picasaweb.google.com/kwelch/20080731 And as always, some panoramas: http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...ine07312008.JPG http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...e07312008-a.JPG http://images.elderphotos.com/KI2009Coaste...e07312008-b.JPG EDIT: See the post from Monroe below. That's more likely transfer track than lift hill track. Mea culpa. Quote
Monroe Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 ^That looks more like transfer storage track than lift hill track. Those are guide wheels to move the train from one spot to another. Quote
