TTD-120-420 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Lets think here a bit. The water isn't going to do much to the track. All of the track will get wet sometime because of rain. Yes the splashdown track will get hit with water much more often but its just water. Its not going to cause the track to turn bad. Maybe a different color, but nothing really noticable.
Fear the Offseason Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Yesterday was my birthday and I loved how Don put the pictures up on the site of the train going through the splashdown on my birthday! It was a great birthday present!
Racerrider Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^^it could rust away like King Cobra's track did.
Ohiocoasterman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 King Cobra's track rusted away? Do they still have it on site anymore? I looks amazing the cam is freezing a bit for me.
Racerrider Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^when Paramount had control of PKI it was back behind The Racer...you can see it from google earth or maps.live, but Cedar Fair might have done something with it EDIT: from microsoft virtual earth
Beast1979 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^when Paramount had control of PKI it was back behind The Racer...you can see it from google earth or maps.live, but Cedar Fair might have done something with it It was hauled off-site in 2006.
RailRider Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 The King Cobra track did not rust because of the elements, it rotted because of poor quality steel and it is no longer on site. The trains were also moved to KD for replacement parts for Shockwave.
welchce Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^I thought KD's stand-up was called Vortex? There are two stand-up coasters called Vortex, neither are at Kings Dominion... http://rcdb.com/id86.htm http://rcdb.com/id79.htm <== I have been on Kings Dominion actually doesn't have a Vortex named coaster... http://rcdb.com/pd16.htm And yes, Shockwave KD's stand-up
Racerrider Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^oh sorry guys, I have a tendancy to mix up Carowinds & Kings Dominion

Only thing i could see happening is the paint fading faster, but you would only really notice that when it is dry, and most of us would never see it dry anyways since while it is running that area will be constantly wet! Which makes me wonder about the landscaping, mainly the grass, with the splash being as big as it is and the wind and breezes, the area around the pool is going to be extremely muddy and difficult to maintain, i would think anyways.
LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 So is the "Diamondback is rusting" tag line going to stick like "Magnum is sinking"?
Ohiocoasterman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Looks like its going to 3 trains again I would think it will get dirty and wear the paint out in that area. I'm not sure about the grass though I don't think it will get that muddy.
Vortex Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I hope they add the other rocks in the water just so it does not get the grass that wet and muddy. One thing to look out for is some moss growing in some areas on the track.
pyrocoasterkid Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Sorry it's cropped all weird, but I liked the rooster tail in all the sunlight:
IndyGuy4KI Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 What is the process of getting it certified for humans to ride? Is it like an elevator inspection?
Racerrider Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 ^you have to put it on imageshack or photbucket first

LongLiveTheSmurfRide Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Looks like 2 of the trains have been put away after a long hard day of testing.
