Which Cedar Fair park does not have a Carousel? I know Kings Island, Carowinds and Kings Dominion all have PTC models, and Great America has a double deck carousel.

Does Michigan`s Adventure have a carousel?

Well Worlds of Fun has Le Carousel and Michigans Adventure has a Carousel as well.

Short answer.

Six Flags made the park too big too fast and neglected the daily opperations. The crowds that the park attracted were not worth the cost of opperating that big of a park.

The markets that you mentioned have deteriorated heavily in recent years.

Also as was said by Railrider the park was too large, worse than that I have heard many complain that even with a good number of roller coasters, only two were really good, Dominator and X-flight.

Two really good rides doesn't get you much play unless you do everything right (Dollywood) or have one of the truly greatest rides and do many things right (Holiday World).

They could have very well competed with Cedar Point, It would just take way to many resources, so in essence, it couldn't. Had the animals been kept things may have been better, if only slightly!

Kentucky Kingdom has a similar issue, They have a solid number of coasters, no more than a typical Busch Gardens park, but they aren't the same quality, nor is the service as I have heard the same quality. Sometimes, the markets matter the least. Read: Walt Disney World (1971).

It's a classic. Often classics do not mean as much to consumers as they have offered to history. We here, know that all too well.

Although I have never ridden the Big Dipper, and will not pass judgment on it, Many people who I know say it was really not that fun of a ride, so I didn't include it.

Wow. In my opinion, Big Dipper was simply THE best wooden roller coaster in Ohio, and had been for many years. Screechin Eagle was a close second, when it operated. Either was far superior to any wooden coaster in Ohio these days, and to most in the USA. John Miller didn't design bad roller coasters. Every Miller I ever rode was a thing to behold.

Actually Big Dipper was smooth, faster then it first seems, and packed full of good old fashion air time. Real, original airtime, something that almost nothing today can duplicate

I know a good number of people disliked it, but I personally truly enjoyed Villain. I only had one problem ever with Villain, and it was that she hurt my kidneys once with a pretty hard jolt on the trick-track transition (say that 3 times quickly). I just wish I had the opportunity to give her another chance... I REALLY wish it would have been cost-effective way to relocate it to WOF. Sorry, but in MHO Prowler looks really weak-sauce. I will agree that BD, although not the biggest, fastest, tallest etc etc should ABSOLUTELY be saved due to its rich history and family-friendliness. Seriously, how would people here feel if The Beast was facing the same fate that BD is? Irregardless, back to the topic at hand, I am very glad the Carousel is being renovated and moved and I have heard WOF brought up many many times as its likely destination.

"trick-track transition"

What would that be?

CCI attempted to re-create Harry Traver's trick track...where the two sides of the track were not parallel to each other height wise, but undulated for a short distance. CCI did this on Villain and on Shivering Timbers. Their attempt resulted in a sometimes painful shuffling...and it seemed more like a tracking mistake than anything else. The Shivering Timbers trick track has, I believe, been removed. It won't be missed. At least not by me. Then again, I am not exactly a fan of that coaster.

six flags is a great "small park" with very little shows, but some great customer service, great looney toons characters, great family atmosphere, sure there not the biggest but well done park,,,and the best River Rapids ride (theming wise) the Pingeons blizzard river WOW its cool batman is even in a cage...

Also.......With Geuga lake it does make sense they made the park too big too quickkkkkkk

I dont see how this is still on subject but i will try to get it back on subject so......I think it is great that a historical ride is being moved somewhere and not just being moved into a dumpster!

Very true. To me the band organ is what provides the nostalga for the Carousel.

I still find it somewhat funny that Big Dipper went at Auction for $5,000 for anyone that can remove it. I just think it is funny that I would have easily had the cash to buy the thing....and have family connections that could have removed it...I just never could have erected it! haha

It didn't. It was an auction. The buyer has to remove it...and has tried to peddle it to others, reportedly for free, on the condition that any taker hire the buyer to do the removal and relocation, most assuredly NOT for free. To date, there are no known takers. Remember, it was an auction. I suspect that whatever bid you would have made would have been topped by the buyer's agent who attended the auction. If the Big Dipper is not removed by the time set by Cedar Fair, I would assume its ownership reverts to Cedar Fair.

Kings Island is having in excess of $20 million spent for Diamondback. Are you saying you'd rather have had Big Dipper? Capex is not limitless. NO WAY would Kings Island have gotten both Big Dipper and Diamondback in the span of two years. Further, Big Dipper would be seen by most of the public as just another, but single track, version of Racer, and most would think it vastly inferior to Racer. After all, it's smaller.

Lastly, you'd better hope the people running Cedar Fair are geniuses. In this economic environment, it going to take at least that to keep the massive debt refinanced until it can be paid in full. Perhaps you could offer them your assistance?
