You think the line will be as long as it was for Behemoth? If not longer?

Good gravy!!! That was one hell of a line. Opening day may just suck a bit, no? I'll still probably get in line before close to nab a night ride.

^^i.e. no Maverick headaches, whose queue will still undoubtly be as long in 09 as in 08 and 07... :(

I found Maverick's line consistently shorter than 2007. 2007 I waited over 2 hours for it a few times, this year it was mostly 30min-1hr.

Please remember, CW is one of the only good parks in Canada though.

1.) Wrong!!! La Ronde is pretty sweet! 2.) CP is a long way from being open on Apr 18th!!

Isn't Behemoth one of the only B&M's in Canada?

OMG, people! NO!!! See La Ronde!

After driving eight hours just to get to Kings Island for Diamondback, I'm quite frankly not going to care how long the line is. I'm going to take precautions, of course but when I get there early in the morning I'll be at my best trying to get to the line as quickly as possible, but at the same time I want to be able to have a good time with my friends.

Posted

So what do you guys think?

Smarter to get to Diamondback first thing in the morning or wait until about nine when you've ridden everything else and KI would have to guarantee you a ride?

Posted

^ Sorry, Bad choice of words. I know they don't have to guarantee you a ride but if you're in line you're more than likely to get on than be removed. So would you say that it would be better in the morning because I was thinking they may close the line also.

Why not try both?

Terpy, who says there is no real way of knowing...but I know how disappointed you would/could be if the ride goes down for any reason and doesn't come back up...it can happen...it almost certainly will not, but it could...

the line will be open till the last minute of park operation, which has always been the policy...

There wont be any random line closing...

Im in no hurry to ride DB... It will be there all season, every day...

No, it has not always been the policy. For many, many years, The Beast line closed early. And given this ride's location in the park and Cedar Fair operating the ride, I would not be totally comfortable with the assertion that the line will not be closing early. In addition, mechanical problems, particularly with new rides, can never be totally ruled out. There can be no assurance that the ride will be operational every day the park is open, much less that the queue line will also be open every second that the park is.

Hopefully, everyone will be considerate and obey safety rules, and avoid an opening-day "Diamondback Marathon" ;)

Thats hillarious. Nice work once again.

That is really good. Speaking of the DB marathon, are you allowed to run to the line, or will you get in trouble? Also, what do you think would be the best route to get to DB the quickest: go down International Street and turn right at the fudge shop and then turn left at Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle OR go down International Street and turn right at International Showplace and then left at Central Grill?

*** The first person to give a good answer (Terpy, don't say 'Yes') recieves a brownie point B)

Thanks everyone! :)

Yes. I`d actually say going by Scooby Doo`s Haunted Castle might be the quicker route.

Remember, that Kings Island may very well have security escort people back to Diamondback once the park opens to avoid a stampede of people running to the ride. I know the park was under different ownership, but they did similar things for Flight of Fear and Backlot Stunt Coaster when those attractions were new.

And yes, as stated in the park maps "Due to major ride popularity, it is necessary to close some queue lines before the park`s closing hour." I`m not sure if it still enforced, but Nighthawk at Carowinds even had a note on its sign saying that the park cut its line one hour before the park`s closing time.

If you have a KI Gold or Platinum Pass you will be able to partake in early ride times on Diamondback beginning Friday April 24.

Thanks. You recieve a brownie point :) . Do you have any reasoning on why going by Scooby Doo might be quicker? Also, I can see why they walk people to the entrance, but I hope they don't so I can go a different way or not be stuck behind a lot of people because I have to hurry and ride DB once and then I have to get to a volleyball tournament in Centerville :( .

Err, that path isn't asphalt. It's paver bricks.

I know it is brick, but I thought they were pouring concrete over it. Which they aren't by the way; I just thought they were cause of the angle.
