April 1, 200917 yr Does anyone know who the private event is for on April 19? It sucks that they are closing the park for the Sunday on opening weekend. I have to go to a wedding on April 18 and will have to wait until the next Friday to ride DB. Thanks for the info

I have to go to a wedding on April 18 and will have to wait until the next Friday to ride DB. Thanks for the info Yes, there are those who know. The event is private. The park is a sell-out for that event. Kings Island is hardly alone in selling a day of an opening weekend to a private group. Cedar Point has done likewise in the past.
April 2, 200917 yr now now now Terpy its like his first post you could at least give him a straight answer this time.... hmmm, how about, Who is the Privite Event for (Terpy if you say People, I'll kill you! lol jk)
April 2, 200917 yr Private events are private for a reason. Soon enough it will leak out who it is. That information will not come from me. When have you ever seen me leak out information that is not in the public domain unless it is in the best interests of the park industry? Answer: You haven't. This won't be it, either.
April 2, 200917 yr Even Coney Island has private events every year when the park is not open to pass holders or the general public. These institutions are willing to pay to have the park open exclusively for their members/employees. And has been said before these events guarantee the park some revenue for that particular day.
April 2, 200917 yr ...And then there is Stricker's Grove, which makes all its revenue from sell-outs with the exception of three days a year...all of which I attend. Flyer, who hasn't missed a public day at Stricker's Grove (that I know of) since 05.
April 2, 200917 yr I remember back when Stricker's didn't have public days, and getting into that private park to ride that wooden coaster was quite the affair. To put it mildly. I even remember who it was that suggested the park have public days. This I remember.

I'm not sure what kind of profit margins they run, but I can tell you that almost all public days are very well attended.
April 2, 200917 yr I just wish Ralph were still with us. He'd be quite proud of his little park, as he always was. A good man he was.
April 2, 200917 yr I'm not sure what kind of profit margins they run, but I can tell you that almost all public days are very well attended. I'll second that. The only time that you can get a ride on The Tornado without having to wait for it is at the VERY beginning of 4th of July and the very ending of Customer Appreciation Day (October). Other than that, it seems to always be a 2-4 train wait. This past Family Day, according to Arlene at Tornado, was the busiest Family Day so far. The line for Tornado at one point was all the way out the ramp and back to Flying Scooters. They needed a set of queue rails!
April 2, 200917 yr Since we are off on that tangent, I want me some roast corn and home grown tomatoes. Those that's been know of what I speak! Now that's park food!
April 2, 200917 yr Since we are off on that tangent, I want me some roast corn and home grown tomatoes. Those that's been know of what I speak! Now that's park food! And not only delicious, but inexpensive. I have always loved eating at Stricker's Grove...especially on the days when drinks are free!
April 2, 200917 yr Since we are off on that tangent, I want me some roast corn and home grown tomatoes. Those that's been know of what I speak! Now that's park food! Set aside all of the rides, the food there is what makes that place outstanding.

April 2, 200917 yr And the quality is almost always better than the same item a few miles away that often costs at least five times more nickels...or more. Home grown corn, roasted over a fire, home grown tomatoes and onions, burgers cooked before your eyes, old time Snow Cones... Stricker's Grove, where else?
April 2, 200917 yr All this talk of SG is of course making me want the Holy Grail that is the SG shirt even more!!

I have to go to a wedding on April 18 and will have to wait until the next Friday to ride DB. Thanks for the info Would you rather that the company that bought out the park on the 19th buy it out on the 18th instead? I am sure that it would make a lot of people angry with a private group getting first dibs on Diamondback if that would have happened. Sounds like the park was thinking about seaons passholders first when it came to scheduling this event on the 19th instead of the 18th.
April 2, 200917 yr I have been to only one event that was even close to being private and that is Lexmark family days. I think the last year I went was about 97 or 98 and then we kind if quit going. As far as I can remember though this event wasn't private and the general public was still let in. Private events must be one of the best things to attend due to sometimes the lack of people and the food you get. Maybe KIC should look into getting a private event for members only. XD Posted from my iPhone!!!
April 2, 200917 yr KIC couldn't begin to afford what it costs to rent the park for a day. And some company outings are busier than most normal weekdays.
April 2, 200917 yr KIC couldn't begin to afford what it costs to rent the park for a day. And some company outings are busier than most normal weekdays. Was a nice thought though. I guess we will take the free (for those of us with passes) Ride Warrior's weekend!!
April 2, 200917 yr KIC couldn't begin to afford what it costs to rent the park for a day. And some company outings are busier than most normal weekdays. If I hit the powerball this weekend, I will rent the park out for a day and you are all invited....LOL!

April 2, 200917 yr Perhaps if KIC starts employing people globally and making millions of dollars per year like the other companies that rent KI, we'll see a KIC day. Admins do you here this?
April 2, 200917 yr One company that use to rent out KI for a day is The Limited. I am not sure if that is who is doing it this year. But a lady i worked with said that her mom worked for them and rented out KI all the time. I know that when SpritSong rolls in the park has an added 10,000 to 15,000 extra people in it anight up to the main 7 pm concert time. After they all go to TimberWolf the rest of the park seems empty.
April 2, 200917 yr If you want to know who is renting the park just drive by the day of, it is usually on the Marque. "Welcome GE" "Welcome Fifth Third" etc
April 3, 200917 yr If I hit the powerball this weekend, I will rent the park out for a day and you are all invited....LOL! Thanks, but I won't count on this. Lottery...a tax on people who are bad at math. ....runs for the hills to hide from the arriving tomatoes.
