MarketingExpress
I rode it on Sunday, I wasn't too impressed. I prefer the TRTR programing and theming for the ride and I think we were spoiled by having that theming as an important part of the ride to help tell a story, now it's borderline boring. Guest rcfreak339
I never really like TR:TR nor The Crypt, it seems out of place, the themeing isn't all that great and really I just don't like the ride....
kjkjkj
The water effects on the ride are NOT back. I rode it Saturday, and they did have really creepy music playing in the queue, it added a very nice touch. However the ride chamber was the same as last year, a big black box with no special effects and howling wind for the soundtrack.
Fear the Four
Personally I don't like the the ride it's really not worth the wait. The longest I would wait for it is 15 mintues.
The Interpreter
So you wouldn't wait 16. Such precision! Terpy, who just HAD to

The Interpreter
No, I was serious. You'd wait 15 minutes but not 16. I am just wowed...I've never seen such precision on the part of most park guests.
UnrealNightmare
He carries a stop watch on him at all times. If it hits 15:01 and his hiney isn't firmly planted in the seat he just shrugs his shoulders and walks away.
The Interpreter
That's exactly what I imagined. Exactly.
UnrealNightmare
Now the question is how long would you wait in line for Skyline Chili? 3 minutes maybe 4?
The Interpreter
A lot less time than I'd spend waiting for Gold Star, that's for sure.... But, back to our regularly scheduled Crypt thread, already in progress...
UnrealNightmare
I think The Crypt would be really nice if it was just like a year round haunted attraction. They could hire people to scare you in line. Maybe theme the inside to an old abandoned house. Maybe call it ghost town to fit in with the whole Rivertown theme. SonofBeast07
I though TR:TR was amazing. It was a Florida ride in Ohio... minus the mountain. It's a shame to see it slow down to a halt like this. Paramount always had high hopes for its rides, but sometimes they were a little too high.
HTCO
anyone for... knockin' in down to build a different flat ride?? *raises hand*
The Interpreter
Be careful what you wish for. As I have said in the past, it would not surprise me to see The Crypt leave Kings Island as part of a new ride rotation program at Cedar Fair. In exchange, Kings Island might get something like a Tilt-A-Whirl from Michigan's Adventure!
RingMaster
Yes, because a Tilt-A-Whirl would be the perfect replacement for a Giant Top Spin...
The Interpreter
I bet it would be more reliable!

htvanmeter
I rode it yesterday and it was awful!! The ride queue took forever and once we got on, it flipped twice and that was it! Ride over. The only special effects we saw was a mop and bucket on the floor. I read that it used to do 9 inversions and it now does 2? That basically tells me the ride is on its way out. They need to do something to it. People come off Diamondback and go to that one for the simple fact they don't know what it is!! Nothing but disappointment from riders yesterday. CedarPointer
I noticed that the work lights in the queue are now on all the time. Not that big of a deal, it's probably because of the "inappropriate activity" that had been going on. The demonbat actually works now, but that's not necessarily a good thing- it seems to always roar right in the middle of the boarding spiel, so nobody pays attention once it roars. :|
mtl2013
Well I know this subject has floated around here a bit. So if its dead horse delete or ignore. But the crypt has such potential, back in its earlier form the theatrics made it a experience. In its new form its a pure thrill ride alone. My thought is that I realize there are licensing issues restraining "themeing" the ride. But as it is encased in theory a blackroom, why not just add some basic rgb color changing light cannons that flood the room with slow fading color as the ride operates? Maybe a bit of ambient music it would give it a unique style. Just an idea. It really has such potential anyone that has other suggestions feel free to share with the rest of the class. I think thats a pretty god idea...but first they have to actually make the irde part better. Make it longer, and mayb keep you upside down at some point

DBru
Are the two flips taken in locked position, or free-swinging?
flightoffear1996
I think they are freeswing. It sucks badly

Beast1979
The 2 flips are taken horribly slow, you can barely feel them.
TheCryptRaider
The 2 flips are taken horribly slow, you can barely feel them. But surely you can feel the second one, it hangs you! I like that one.. It's the only good part of the ride!
Coney Islander
I might be wrong, but didn't Kings Island add lighting effects on The Crypt last year? I never noticed them before now and they do add to the atmosphere of the ride.
