SFKK TWISTED TWINS

Recommended Posts

http://screamscape.com/html/six_flags_kentucky_kingdom.htm

six flags kk twisted twins trains had been relocated to sfsl for another coaster or for spare parts. Many believe now that twisted twins is either coming down (hopefully for a new coaster in 2011 for 50th anniversary) or this ride may just simply could be getting some brand new trains for hopefully next season. What do you think?

Well if you know me I'm a Kentucky Kingdom lover I guess..... I love this place and to see a coaster I've ridden about 1,000 times being torn down is weird, I have mixed emotions. I thought the ride was fun but seeing the lack in interest the past few years has shown me it's not that good to most of the GP. Now since we now know that Twisted Twins will not reopen, what could happen with Mile High Falls?, What will take Twisted Twins place? Or will they clear all the land and rebuild (my choice).....or could this be a clue to the end of SFKK....I doubt it but now there are just "Whats" swirling in my head.

has mile high falls been open lately:

And it seems no real investment in Ky Kingdom lately I love it:

And really? how old is twisted twins (and it was called twisters?)

So come on KK really needs a expansion on the little land they do have???

Mile High has not been open in 2 years. Investment has been put into the park just only in the waterpark. Twisted Twins opend in 1998 and when they did they were known as Twisted Sisters until the band "Twisted Sisters" threatend to sue. CoasterJunky you might just want to give up on that rumor....

maybe if we are lucky kentucky kingdom is getting ready to move to the land by kentucky speedway they purchaced a while ago or at least they were rumored to have bought.

this would at least give them room to build something.

Uh, what?

That was a rumor from like 2002....

and that band was named twisted sister, not twisted sisters,

and yea, i kinda figured if they were going to move there they would have already done that.

They opened 1998? Kind of sad as that sounds relatively young for a coaster. I was not able to get to SFKK until this year and have never ridden them. :(

When we went, I found the park to be really nice and hope some improvements can be made to open them once again.

The park has had improvements, and a lot of them since 2005. Just the past 2 years the improvments have been small improvments. I hope that next year or the year after they can add somethiing big and really get the park rolling again. I will be at the park today 2-7 and I will take pictures of Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls to see if anything new has happend.

I think I worded that wrong. My hope is that first work on what they have and then add something new. :)

But, yes pictures please! I think the park is pretty and that tweaks here and there as well as a new addition on the dry side would go a long way into raising the park's popularity (and when I went, it was pretty full then!)

I took some pictures today....but some are a bit blurry!

This is the first hill of the Stella side.

DSCI0521.jpg

Lola first hill. Those first hills gave some preety nice airtime!

DSCI0503.jpg

DSCI0511.jpg

DSCI0518.jpg

The track is so rusty i dont know if it could ever run again.

DSCI0513.jpg

The whole area is now a dumping ground.

DSCI0507.jpg

They dump everything back here, there is some benches...

DSCI0505.jpg

Old signs...although this Thunder Run sign is fairly new. I have no idea why they put it here. They put it up in 2007 I think, If they dont want it. I will gladly take it off there hands!

DSCI0504.jpg

Mile High Falls.

DSCI0526.jpg

The lift chain is also missing....not good.

DSCI0527.jpg

DSCI0499.jpg

This photo is so sad....Kentucky Kingdom really isn't located in the best area. But this looks just pitiful.

DSCI0502.jpg

Thats way this area has a height restriction!

DSCI0508.jpg

Last pic....

After looking at everything, I have no doubt in my mind this area will be bulldozed. Weeds has grown over everything. Mile High looks horrible. All hope is lost for this area..... So sad....:(

NOTE: I did NOT take this photos on Kentucky Kingdoms property, I did not trespass or break any policy.

Well that stinks. Looking at SFKK over the last few years, looking at pictures from trip reports and this, it really looks like the park is slowly deteriorating into closure. I would love to see a few major additions at the dry side, possibly bringing a lot of people back, but if they don't hop to it soon I don't see this park staying around for a while.

Some very nice photos there. It's always sad to see a coaster go. Unless its SOB of course. :)

While I agree, you might want to be careful, you know how the SoB lovers on this board are....

But, but, but. Appearances can be deceiving. Unused wooden coaster track rusts like that in very little time. A closed park or ride can look like that in just weeks. You should see Kings Island (or any major theme park) during the off season. Even a couple of weeks before it opens, you'd say "I don't see how they can ever get this place open and looking good again." And then they do.

That being said, it is not a good sign that the trains for Twisted Twins have been sighted in Eureka, Missouri. Not at all.

The whole back section looks like it's sat there for 10 years or more. Weeds have taken over and is a dump....It will take a lot of time and money to put anything new back there again. Which is why I think that they will sit there for a while.
