mtl2013 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I realize that there are many many more choices, but I just want to see what people think about this year's Golden Ticket award. I say Diamondback or Terminator Salvation the ride. please comment Quote
TOPGUN1993 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Dark Knight was 2008, and I think Manta or Diamondback will most likely win. Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I think it will be Manta or Diamondback. Those seem to be the most 'major' of the coasters for this year. Quote
HTCO Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 A duel off of all duel off's. Manta VS. Diamondback. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 And many of the voters will not have ridden one of them. Some will not have ridden EITHER. The ballot encourages voters to talk to others, view youtube videos, etc., to gather information on the rides. I am sorry, but to me the Golden Tickets have about as much credibility as the Miss Congeniality title does in a beauty contest, if that much. Quote
Diamondback FOF Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 How do people get selected to be voters for the Golden Ticket? Quote
House Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Theme park insider had prowler listed as number one in early july. Im not sure how big of a following that site has. Some guy told me about it in line for db. I checked out the site to confirm it though. Quote
mtl2013 Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 haha sorry about dark knigh. accident. And it seems to be coming down to DB and manta. I go with DB. Actually im not sure how you become a viter for the award. anyone know? Terpy? Quote
HTCO Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I made my decision... Diamondback. One of the best roller coasters I have ever been on. Quote
DropZone99 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Dark Knight was 2008, and I think Manta or Diamondback will most likely win. The Dark Knight that was going to SFNE ended up at Six Flags Mexico and just opened this year. Quote
skaterboy22101 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Ring Racer. I mean it is the tallest and fatrest roller coaster in the world. Quote
HTCO Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Ring Racer. I mean it is the tallest and fatrest roller coaster in the world. I didn't know that Ring Racer had a fat rest? HTCO, you knew he would. Quote
skaterboy22101 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Haha, I ment fastest. And, it won't be the tallest. My bad. Quote
HTCO Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 It dosen't look that fun... Hmm.. I don't know if Ring Racer would be one. Quote
DiamondbackLover Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 What's so good about Manta? I'm going there next year and wondering why it's supposed to be so good. Quote
BavarianBeatle Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I have only ridden two of those (DB and Carolina Cobra when it was at GL), so I do not feel qualified to vote..... Quote
HTCO Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 1. B&M (those are always good) 2. Flying 3. Amazing Scenery and water effects(apperently). Quote
Fear the Four Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I would like to see Diamondback to win. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 ...Actually im not sure how you become a viter for the award. anyone know? Terpy? Yes? Yes. Actually, virtually all of the voters are subscribers to Gary Slade's publication, Amusement Today. The Golden Tickets give the publication publicity and the parks' advertising of the awards gives Amusement Today more publicity while allowing subscribers to vote encourages subscriptions while parks feel they have a much better chance if they advertise in that publication &c. Quote
Beast1979 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I see Manta or Diamondback going for it. Now which one is going to win? Who knows. I would like to see Diamondback win but Manta has a lot going for it, all though personally I think flying coasters are a gimmick. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I'd love to know whether there are more Amusement Today subscribers in Florida or Ohio. One has a concentration of major destination parks and attractions, the other has a concentration of park and coaster enthusiasts and even ride manufacturers and sales reps... Quote
DeLorean Rider Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I dont think Ring Racer is going to turn out to be all that great. I think it will have an appeal similar to Hypersonic XLC's. Simply based on it's speed, no other thrilling element. I'd be pretty upset if a ride won a gold ticket, based solely on the fact that it goes fast. Quote
The Interpreter Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 And far too late to be considered this year... Quote
Thrill_Biscuit Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 And many of the voters will not have ridden one of them. Some will not have ridden EITHER. The ballot encourages voters to talk to others, view youtube videos, etc., to gather information on the rides. I am sorry, but to me the Golden Tickets have about as much credibility as the Miss Congeniality title does in a beauty contest, if that much. I think that...uh...U.S. Americans and such-as, should vote...for...Diamondback because people in the Iraq and such-as don't have rollercoasters like U.S. Americans...and such as... Quote
raptor Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 I like Golden Ticket, it's at least one organization of the kind that doesn't do back flips over Disney World and seems to be more interested in traditional parks Quote
mtl2013 Posted July 24, 2009 Author Posted July 24, 2009 Actually now that I think about it. I woudl say teh battle is more between DB and ring racer. I want to see DB win, but I think there is a very good chance that ring racer to be victorious. Quote
Coaster Kid Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 What about Behemoth that is a pretty good ride. Quote
DaveStroem Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 What about Behemoth that is a pretty good ride. It came in 3rd last year. Quote
