CedarPointer
I was thinking today that it would be interesting to have a daily "survival guide" for the park- instructions about things that, really, should be obvious: line jumping, spitting, fences, etc. I'll try to do a new one daily. Subject: Ride Names Every ride at Kings Island has a name. If you call a ride the wrong name, don't be surprised when those around you snicker a little. Flight of Fear is not Flight Deck. Son of Beast is not Flight of Fear, either. Invertigo is not Vertigo. If you're going to the park for the first time, try taking a map at the front entrance... and look at it! Because, when you ask me for directions to Invertigo, I have no idea that you actually meant Diamondback (they ARE both red and yellow, you know). Subject: Employees and You How would you feel if someone came up to you and started yelling at you because you told them "no"? That's the same way that a park associate feels when you yell at them because dear little Suzie was too short for "The Vertex". A "thank you" might be nice once and a while, too. The park associates are not robots. And, if they tell you NOT to do something, DON'T DO IT! Subject: Flight of Fear Yes, Flight of Fear is indoor. It is not just like Space Mountain. It is a rollercoaster. With four inversions and a 54mph launch. It has lapbars, but yes, it DOES have inversions. Now, about the theming: Cedar Fair is NOT a theme park company. Don't vandalize the theming, because we KNOW they're not gonna fix it. One other thing about the theming: yes, the queue video is old and cheesy. You don't need to point that out. We know. Trust me, we know.

CincyMan98
Good start! That makes total sense - and yes, Diamondback and Invertigo are both red and yellow (but switched around between supports/track). lol

gigacoaster2k
I've actually told off park guests for getting rude with park employees. A guest was arguing with the ride op at the entrance to Millennium Force because she didn't want to put her bag in a locker (there are no drop bins in the ride station). I clearly saw the ride op getting upset because the girl just kept arguing.. so as I walked by, I told the girl not to get mad at the ride op for doing her job and kept walking. Next time the ride op saw me, she smiled and we had a short conversation about how unbelievable some people can be. Many of the employees work open to close in all weather conditions on barely a few hours of sleep, and I often see them tired or looking like they are going to faint. Please do not make their jobs even harder than they already are.
CedarPointer
Subject: Smoking "Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please? For the safety and comfort of others, smoking is permitted in designated areas only..." Remember hearing this? IT APPLIES TO YOU! If you're smoking on a path, you're making everyone around you mad. And, if you're smoking in line, that is a sin punishable by death. Or... if you're smoking in line for THE CRYPT, Flight of Fear, or SCOOBY DOO AND THE HAUNTED CASTLE, you really need some help. Oldiesmann
Park Attire: Ladies, the main park is not the water park. Please do not assume everyone in the main park wants to see you strolling around in your bathing suits. Especially when the bathing suit is a bit too small... Public Affection: Please do not hang all over your significant other while in line for rides. A quick hug or smooch is fine, but smothering each other is disgusting. SOB_TOM
Coming from the operations side of things (and maintenance for that matter,) there were several days when I would sleep in my car due to the half hour drive from work. Get off around midnight, have to be in at 9:15 the next morning (or in maintenance, 7:00AM.) So yeah, the sleep deprivation side is definitely one of the "perks" of being in the amusement industry. And yes, working in all weather conditions (many times did I work while snowflakes were coming down...) does grate on ya after awhile. So please be nice to your associates. Remember: Without them, nothing moves...

Mr. Coastermania
SCREAMING-----I know the rides might really be scary and really fun but please once the ride is over and coming back in the station, there is no need to scream over and over again.I can see doing it while hitting speeds of 60 plus at 200 plus feet.Just think of how your ears feel when someone else was doing that to you. Oh and on the subject of public affection if you have respect for your girl or guy why would you make them look like they were in a porn movie while waiting in line.Im sure you all love each other but im sure if you saw someone else in line carring on like that you would feel the same way as some of the other guest feel.Oh and think about the kids in line for once instead of trying to be a show off. Im just saying.
Diamondback FOF
...Because, when you ask me for directions to Invertigo, I have no idea that you actually meant Diamondback (they ARE both red and yellow, you know)... Actually, one is pink and yellow, and the other it red and yellow. ...Public Affection: Please do not hang all over your significant other while in line for rides. A quick hug or smooch is fine, but smothering each other is disgusting. OMG! I was in line for Invertigo on Sunday and there was two kids a few people in front of us. The girl looked like she was probably 17 and the guy looked like he was 19 or 20. Well, they kept kissing in line (And I don't mean short little kisses either. They were really kissing!). And, he was, ummm.... 'stroking' her stomach and ummm... touching her .
shark6495
yeah i feel bad enough when I go with my Fiance and we hold hands or she leans on me while standing in line. I hate the teenagers who feel this is the back seat of their dads car and its ten minutes before midnight. keep it in your pants kids........ A quick hug or smooch is fine, but smothering each other is disgusting. If someone relatively close to you in line is practicing PDA, stare at them. It will get them to stop. If they ask you what you're doing say, "Oh, I thought you were putting on a show for us." Works like a charm every time. Try it! Coming from the operations side of things (and maintenance for that matter,) there were several days when I would sleep in my car due to the half hour drive from work. Remember: Without them, nothing moves... When I worked Fearfest I would leave the park around 1 in the morning, go the the Waffle House, IHOP, or Steak and Shake after wards, get home at 3 in the morning take a shower, then wake up at 7:00 to get to work at 8:00 the next day. Yeah, I was living off of Rockstar energy drinks. Good times.

CedarPointer
And yes, I have seen someone smoke in line for Flight of Fear. I was amazed that it didn't trigger an "unplanned fire drill".

gigacoaster2k
I must rant about a major peeve of mine. TRASH GOES IN THE TRASH CANS, INCLUDING GUM. Gum AND trash DOES NOT go on coaster trains, in queues, is not used to decorate queues, does not go in splashdowns, on the midway, or on signs, or anywhere else but GUESS WHERE?.. IN THE TRASH CAN. It takes all of what, ONE second to throw trash away? There are 946 billion trash cans in the park.. use them for the trash! IT GOES IN THE TRASH, IN THE TRASH, IN THE FREAKING TRASH!! Rollercoast19
Actually the park has cleaned a lot of the gum off those walls this year. However, I have seen new gum placed on the walls. *Sigh*

jondrewfoo
literally like i guess about a month ago they completely cleared out everything inside the walls, all the gunk, gum, whatever it was gone. right now it has a little bit, but so much better than it was. Dvo
Giga, I can't agree with you more. The gum situation is out of hand everywhere. I noticed a particularly bad one on the log flume at Indiana Beach last week. There are two small tunnels through which you pass, and I could see more gum than I could the actual walls. It's disgusting. Either remove the walls, or put cameras in so they can catch the people who do it and toss them out.
