raptor
I agree, change always brings more business, how many of us lament the loss of The Enchanted Voyage, The Antique Cars and The Flying Scooters that probably would not ride them that often if they were never removed, if I can quote the John Lennon song "You don't know what you got, until you lose it"
pcc
We'll be there next year. The girls will miss their favorite characters, but they'll adapt. As for the Haunt, my girls will not go when we go next month. They were spooked just walking by the hearse in the park this summer, I couldn't even imagine taking them to something like that... 74Gibson
"And for the parents worried about your kids not knowing about Peanuts; go to Barnes and Noble and pick up some of the Peanuts comic books and read them together with your kids. You will find that reading with your kids is more rewarding than watching Nick with them." The quote button isn't working. Browntggrr: As a parent and Elem. School Counselor I give you post of the year. Those comics teach kids so many lessons. I use them in guidance lessons and the majority of my students know the Peanuts gang and like them a lot. I've asked what does the teacher sound like (while teaching them active listening skills) and they all do the wawawa thing. Tomcatt77: The reason to go to different parks is that they have different rides. I would love taking my daughter to Nick U or Planet Snoopy, she's only 1 though... she also loves watching POV's. Thata' girl!
Browntggrr
I am aware of this…I am just pointing out what I see as the hypocrisy of the park. I see their “Halloween Haunt includes graphic scenes, suggestive themes and intense imagery and is intended for mature audiences; not recommended for children. No one and nothing is off limits!” warning as one of two things…either they don’t believe it is actually that bad and they are simply attempting to make Halloween Haunt appear scarier by adding the disclaimer…OR they sincerely do believe it is too scary for children…BUT they are willing to accept the $225.00 and look the other way. I don't see it as hipocrisy from the park, as there is clear communication (just like when people that have medical conditions don't believe the warnings prior to riding a thrill ride) to what you are paying for prior to entering. They leave the decision in the hands of the parents as to what their kids can handle. Some kids that are 8 years old, and have the size of a 13 year old, and the maturity of a 13 year old, can handle it. While other kids can be 13, and have the maturity of a 5 year old. Who else besides the parent knows the kid better as to what they can handle. I have been to the Haunt numerous times and overheard park employees voice their concerns to parents, and the parents simply blow them off with the attitude- "It's my kid, I'll raise my kid how I see fit." You can't fix stupid.

The Interpreter
The funny thing is...back when I rode the helicopters and kiddy whip at Stricker's, I was much more of a man than I am now...at least seven more stones, as the Brits would put it. Ralph himself let me ride, much to the ride ops' consternation!

RingMaster
....in the years leading up to Nickelodeon completely taking over Kiddie-Land, Hanna-Barbera Land was always packed on any given day. It was a chore trying to walk around with all the strollers roaring through (probably because of the small size of the paths). What in the WORLD makes you think they're gonna stop coming because SpongeBob and the Fairly OddParents aren't there in 2010? Nickelodeon or not, the installation of an inverted coaster made for kids (along with a mini Drop Tower and a weird ginormous skating ride) further cements the belief that if you build something made for the kids, the kids will ride it without a doubt, cartoon endorsements notwithstanding. Because the younger fans of KI (and please, I'm not trying to insult anyone) don't realize that prior to Nick, KI already had arguably the best kids area anyway for many years. If you disagree, that's ok. But just take a look at the CET video on the planning and early years of KI. It is mentioned numerous times on how the park was literally planned around Hanna-Barbera Land.

Just to add to that, I think that the Hanna-Barbera characters were also among the first to grace the Cartoon Network. It was the first all cartoon channel on cable. That was a long time ago, so I may be a bit fuzzy on that one.

Coaster Kid
Probly this may even be the last year of Ation Theater. I mean good bye Action Theater hello Hospital of death year round.
TylerRider
I will answer this one. It's pretty easy I will still take my kid to Ki for peanuts. I am not happy about it. I hate to see Nick U leaving. I'm sure she will still have fun visiting the gang that she has no clue as to who they are, but it will still be kiddie land, so she'll have fun. My whole problem isn't that the kids won't like it.They will, just not as much. It also gives a Wal-Mart feel to all the parks. If you go in to a wal-mart in Columbus, Ohio. They have the same stuff on the shelves as they do in Lincoln, Nebraska. That is what Cedar Fair seems to be doing to all of their parks. Going in to kiddie land at KI will now be the same experence as it is at Kings Dominion, Cedar Point, Carowinds. So, If I have children, and I do. What is the allure to visit say Carowinds next summer? If I want to enjoy another park, with different attractions, I am going to need to go to Six Flags maybe, or Busch Gardens. By putting a "generic" kids land in, the powers that be have saved money on licensing, but also lost money in return visits by families. Nobody wants to visit the same park over and over. That is pointed out by everyone on here talking of trips to Cedar Point, Holiday World, Six Flags, etc. By the same token, imagine talking to a kid. "Guess what honey, first we are going to Kings Island where you can see Snoopy. Then we will go to Kings Dominion where you can visit, um, Snoopy. Then we'll shoot up to Cedar Point where you might see.....uh....Snoopy" If Kings Island, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds all had the same roller coasters, would you guys all still take trips each year to the different parks? I agree completely I will HATE Ceder Fair It has always to one Visit King Dominion, Ceder point, carawinds, or any other park. It is quickly dimishing

You have confirmed my belief that just because a cartoon is on 24/7, does not make it better. Grab a book, and read. Get away from SpongeBob.
