Coaster Kid Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 The Racers tunnels got a new paint job over the weekend did anyone else notice the gum is gone. But it still smells like paint. Quote
Coaster Kid Posted October 4, 2009 Author Posted October 4, 2009 My guessing is not even end of haunt. Quote
Beast79 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Hold on they finally cleaned and repainted the tunnel and now your complaining about the paint smell.....Wow just plain old wow Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Hold on they finally cleaned and repainted the tunnel and now your complaining about the paint smell.....Wow just plain old wow He wasn't complaining. Quote
CedarPointer Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 My house smells like paint, and I don't complain. In fact, I can think of many things I'd rather smell paint than, including vomit and moldy gum. Quote
thejoker34 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 hmm but the gum made it have purtifull colors! Quote
TheSonofBeast Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 the gum was cleaned off late august, they probably just got any new gum that accumulated then painted it. thats a good thing though. Quote
iChase Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I honestly hate to see gum stuck on those walls. I consider The Racer a landmark and a piece of historical significance. To see gum stuck to it just shows a lack of respect. Quote
Beast79 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Chewing gum is really gross.... Chewing gum I hate the most! Quote
Jasper Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I think they need to install camera or have kind of like a ride-op monitor the tunnel, I hate the way the gum looks on the wall, and it's not just gum, dip as well. Quote
CoastersRZ Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Well, when The Racer first opened, the break run was not enclosed in tunnels as it is now. It was very similar to how the break run is on The Beast prior to the station. Quote
pyrocoasterkid Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 The gum was gone when I was there a few weeks back...Guess they finally painted. It seemed much better just minus the gum. Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Well, when The Racer first opened, the break run was not enclosed in tunnels as it is now. It was very similar to how the break run is on The Beast prior to the station. Let me just add a footer to this post. I assume the "break run" is the place on the coaster you sit to take a break today? Terpy, who just HAD to, and who, given the original poster's precision and care, is on sound footing. Big blue and silver B and M at Cedar Point, anyone? Quote
CedarPointer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I don't think the red tunnel was painted... it was pretty nasty on Sunday. Quote
DaveStroem Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I don't think the red tunnel was painted... it was pretty nasty on Sunday. I was thinking the same thing. Yes the gum was gone, but no new paint. I truly dislike the "tunnel". It seems like it would be a great place to add some theming to the ride. Quote
Beast1979 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I rode Racer Red on Sunday, and the 10 feet closest to the station was nice and pretty, but aside from that, it looked like the same old gummy, dry, peeling, ugly, pointless tunnel. Please get rid of it, it is ridiculously disgusting and completely unnecessary. Quote
TylerRider Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Chewing gum is really gross.... Chewing gum I hate the most! Charile and the Chocolate factory!!!! Quote
thejoker34 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 what type of themeing would they have?? Quote
Fear the Four Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 If you don't like the gum in there don't look at it or touch it and don't chew it but it is nasty still I just ignore it. Quote
CedarPointer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 If you don't like the gum in there don't look at it or touch it and don't chew it but it is nasty still I just ignore it. It's still digusting, and you're forced to be a foot away from it. It encourages vandalism, and makes the park look run down. It makes it look like Cedar Fair does not care about Kings Island. Quote
DaveStroem Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I would put up old styled posters of the park from the 70s. Things like the dbl ferris wheel and other attractions that are gone. Quote
CedarPointer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 And those wouldn't get spit and gum on them? Good idea, though. Quote
HTCO Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Don't theme it. Just get rid of the pointless tunnel. Quote

And in the summer, it draws bees. Bees that sting guests. Quote
CedarPointer Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 As if there weren't loads of bees to begin with. I know KI can do very little about it, though. Quote
The Interpreter Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 They could start by getting rid of the sugared gum on the walls of certain attractions.... Quote
Dbfan Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Why Paint it now?? Why not just wait till season is officially over for the winter. Quote
