Coasterfun
http://www.screamscape.com/html/california_s_great_america.htm Screamscape is suggesting Knott's screaming swing will go to California's Great America.
Browntggrr
Demon Drop is, by far, the best freefall ride I have ridden. It beats Power Tower by a mile, and probably beats Drop Tower and Pitt Fall too. Probably beats Drop Tower? Have you been on DT? Because the way it sounds, you haven't. I will agree about DD over PT. But when it comes to drop rides, the best I've been on is Sky Screamer at Marineland.
faeriewench
YES Sky Screamer!! Too bad the park is a mess tho ><
flightoffear1996
I just love Demon Drop because it really is a engineering mercial. Its almost all mechinical and its fun to watch. The Drop Towers today really arent as mechincal as Demon Drop is.
XGatorHead 8904
I'm glad I got to ride DD last month when I went to CP since it'll be years before I ever make it out to Knott's. I knew it had been for sale so Mrs. Gator and I made sure that we rode it. I love that ride and I'll miss having it only a few hours away. DropZone99
Demon Drop is my favorite non coaster at CP, and one of my all time favorite flat rides. I love Drop Zone a little more, but Demon Drop is probably my #2.
Guest rcfreak339
Power Tower isn't freefall though!
Beast1979
Because Power Tower SHOOTS you down from my experience. And then it stops you early to bounce you a few times. With that, I place it higher then Drop Tower at Kings Island, but only just. I'd rather ride Space Shot more then Turbo Drop, anyhow. Too bad I never got to ride this at Cedar Point. With it going to KBF I doubt that I will be able to get on it for quite a while, and who knows how long it will last over there!
TH13TEEN
Demon Drop I'm sad you are leaving Cedar Point. I will see you this spring woot woot!
The Interpreter
And now, according to the L A Times, Knott's officials have confirmed Demon Drop IS going to Knott's. Doesn't sound like they are thrilled about it at the Times, either: Knott’s Berry Farm to add 1980s-era thrill ride in 2010 Demon Drop at Cedar Point, coming to Knott'sd Berry Farm in 2010 Knott’s Berry Farm’s new attraction for 2010 is an aging hand-me-down thrill ride that’s older than many of the Buena Park theme park’s patrons. The Demon Drop attraction will be relocated from sister park Cedar Point in Ohio, where the ride debuted in 1983 — when Ronald Reagan was president, Michael Jackson introduced the moonwalk and leg warmers were in fashion. Knott’s officials confirmed that the installation of the Drop Tower ride will begin in January with a grand opening scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2010. Knott’s will keep the Demon Drop name, color scheme and theme.... http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/...y-farm-to-5666/

Beast1979
From what I can assess of this situation, this is simply Cedar Point clearing room for 2011, and the start of Cedar Fair's ride rotation program, something I was hoping they would avoid.... BavarianBeatle
I agree with those who say they need the space for a new coaster in 2011! With KI, KD, Carowinds, CW and WOF getting new coasters (not to mention the relocation of the GL rides) over the last few years, and CP's most recent being 4 years old as of 2011, I would say that CF's "flagship park" will be long overdue for a new coaster at that point!! The Interpreter
And now the Sandusky Register has the story: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2...2e219435431.txt As they get this ride at Knott's, I hope its fans see the point... CrashOverRided
...to move it to another Cedar Fair park. And thus begins Cedar Fair's oft rumored ride rotation program... hmmmmmm......next thing the will be the Eiffel Tower and fountains will be moved to Great America. Guest rcfreak339
Power Tower isn't freefall though! Have you ridden the side that just launches you down? It's NOT freefall. It just feels like someone is just pushing you down at a fast pace, no 0g's at all.
CedarPointer
Gee, I wonder if this land-clearing will be used for a non-coaster, family attraction also...
74Gibson
I saw this coming but it still makes me so sad. DD is by far my favorite drop ride, actually the only one I like. I know my sorrow will be quickly forgotten though, or covered up.
flightoffear1996
Its funny how everyone on here never talked about Demon Drop until they find out its being relocated. Then everyone is like its my fav. drop ride. You guys crack me up.
74Gibson
That's cuz "You don't know what you've got till it's gone". (The Cinderella song begins to play in my head) Not me, though. I've always loved it and have known for a year or two that it was for sale and have been counting my days on it. Unfortunately, I went for my last CP trip of the year and Sat and kinda forgot to ride it. Bad move but I had a blast so who cares?
raptor
Or the John Lennon song: You Don't Know what you got until you lose it No love loss for me though, Although it is the first ride I ever rode at Cedar Point back in '97 (I think it was), I last rode it about 5 years ago and when the cart hit the bottom, it just murdered my back
Braves0511
I had all summer to ride it when I worked there...I never did...I meant to, but just never got around to it. Now I'll probably never get to. Are there even anymore like DD out there anymore?
