BoddaH1994
The new Triple Twist water slide is under construction at the Great Wolf Lodge and spokesman Steve Shattuck said they plan to open it in early March. Riders will drop into a tunnel and fly through many twists and turns and two additional tunnels. CoastersRZ
I had noticed towards the end of last year they seemed to be doing some upgrades to the outdoor pool at the Great Wolf Lodge. Nice to see that they are investing in more slides for the resort.
CincyMan98
That would be great! Now I'm really excited Edit: I just read into it more - oh. my. GOD! That's amazing. I'm surprised they're not making that big of a deal out of it - it looks so crazy! Maybe better than Diamondback -
TylerRider
This just gives me one more reason to go!!!! I want to soo bad. Now even more in the off season!
Dbfan
Looks like a good reason to go back I went twice, but after 2nd time the slides just got boring...
tycoonrebel7188
The rendering of the slide on their site makes it look pretty awesome! I thought Tasmanian Typhoon in Boomerang Bay was fun, just too short. This thing looks like a blast.
PREMiERdrum
These ProSlide Tantrums are popping up everywhere... they look to be quite fun! Now I wish either Boomerang Bay or Zoombezi bay would add an AquaLoop - those things look awesome.
Beast79
I remember talking about coming up with ideas of where to put it... Too bad I'm not allowed on GWL's property
Gordon Bombay
Why can't you go on GWL property?
Beast79
They don't like working managers, since we fix their water coaster they didn't have a need for me anymore and let me go!
The Interpreter
And former managers aren't allowed on the property? How...odd. I'd think your money is as good as anybody else's!
Beast79
You would think that but nope! I'll just wait 6 more months and at their turn around rate no one there will know who I am and what all improvments I made there.
CoastersRZ
Also note, that this water slide will feature LED lights. Definitely a cool feature. Now if only GWL offered day passes during their off peak times, like the Kalahari in Sandusky does... Alas, that will not happen as they want their water park facility to remain exclusively for guests staying at the resort. And with one of these slides at Great Wolf Lodge, I would think the chance of KI ever getting one of these is very unlikely. Although, its about time that Boomerang Bay receives a new water slide or two.
Avatar
Well that about time has come and gone a few years ago, at this point I don't even hold out hope for Boomerang Bay receiving anything new. I understand why but as a waterpark fan it is disappointing to year after year few improvements or additions. Last time I went they where playing regular rock music like the rest of the park and that was the last time I went. Very unrelaxing, I have spoke up but there is little they can do under the circumstances so now we just spend most our time in the dry side of the park. CincyMan98
Do you know what park needs a new waterslide - CoCokey! They only have those 3 big slides and then all the tiny little ones.
XGatorHead 8904
That looks like fun. I've entered the contest. Winning that would be the only way I could go anytime soon, since GWL is a little out of our price range right now! We plan on going to CoCo Key sometime in the next month or two. GatorGirl reminded me (as if I needed reminding) just last night when she saw a commercial for it on TV.
tycoonrebel7188
I also stopped by Great Wolf to take a look at the progress on the new slide. I didn't see any ground work going on but pieces of the new slide were on site.
DropZone99
^Nice photos! I found this on another site, it's the 'concept art.' http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/firstfamily-mason_930.jpg
flightoffear1996
That looks really fun! Is the funnel going to as big as the one in Boomerrang Bay?
DropZone99
^Nope, if you've ever seen a tantrum bowl... thats what this is!
DropZone99
I decided to go onto GWL's website, and they have information on the website! It'll also feature LED lights at night! Sounds awesome!
Thane Of Price Hill
More parts on site today?
Jasper
From KI's PR Twitter-NEW FOR 2010: Gold passholders receive 15% discount off best available room rates and 10% off services in spa at Great Wolf Lodge. Maybe this will increase visitors to GWL along with the new slide.
CincyMan98
So the bowls and funnels are going to be miniature? Doesn't that mean it will be faster because it whips around them faster? That would be awesome...... Hopefully my swim trunks won't fall off; that's almost what happened on the bowl at GWL and it's a good thing I pulled them up.....ok, thats too much info........ I'm just going to stop talking now.
Diamondback FOF
On my first ride on Tasmanian Typhoon (or whatever) at KI, the back of my swim trunks started sliding down my butt...
Dalefan
Too bad GWL doesnt do day passes.
CincyMan98
I know, that sucks. So everytime you go; (it especially sucks for me because I only live 15 minutes away) I have to stay there. There's no point in that unless you're making it a 3 day vacation!
The Interpreter
On the other hand, if they offered day passes, chances are the waterpark would be wall to wall people, affecting their lodging business. At least so far, they choose not to do so. They could of course offer a very limited number of day passes at whatever price the market would bear, but then people would whine about the limited availability and/or the price. CoastersRZ
I think during off peak times, they could more than afford to offer a select number of day passes. Times like weekdays in September, when lifeguards outnumber the amount of swimmers in the pool area!
Diamondback FOF
Are the number of required lifeguards dictated by the size of the pool or number of people who would be in it at a time? (I would think the number of people to be watched over)
