HTCO
I was at the Larosas in Lebanon last night, when I happened to look at the Kings Island poster they always have in the lobby area. It was the new 2010 poster, and this is what I saw. Kings Island: The Fun and Only?
mtl2013
Whats up with that??! Thats a horrible slogan
The Interpreter
Someone at FUN likes PUNs? Terpy, who has been a bad, bad influence* *Just imagine if Apollo were to succeed...
CedarPointer
Oh dear... that's really... bad.
Beast1979
Well, it is Kings Island, Where Else would expect such PUNny slogans? Hey...watch it...with...those...Tomatoes!
The Interpreter
Behave. Or we will make you go smell the funnel cakes. Or ride Diamondback. This year, your first ride could be your last...* *I never understood that one at all...it's like advertising that a Toyota could go so fast it could kill you.... HTCO
Terrible pun on CF part. I liked "Kings Island: Where Else?" a TON better than "the fun and only!".
kjkjkj
What's all the complaining about? It's not THAT bad. They probably changed it because everytime some worker in the park would say Kings Island Where Else? A KICer would yell Cedar Point! The Interpreter
And just why would FUN care about that? In fact, there are those who would say that as long as FUN is getting the nickels, Mr. Kinzel would far prefer they be spent in the park where he lives in the parking lot. Now if the answer to that "Where else" question is Disney, the FUN and only flies in the face of that (and of reality).
kjkjkj
Although I would like this slogan better if it was less of a pun. I would like it more if it was just Kings Island, The One and Only!"
The Interpreter
Which would have the advantage of not only being a unique selling proposition, but also of being incontrovertibly true.
coaster_junky
i like the old slogan better, but i love Cedar Point's "america's roller coast"
CincyMan98
God now I'm embarassed to go to KI.....
The Interpreter
I'm still waiting for someone to write about the font used for "THE Fun & Only." I suppose it is supposed to look very...juvenile.
Hank
When I read the title of this topic, I thought I was gonna see "King's Island - bring your son 'cos we don't have one".
The Interpreter
Oh, my.... At first I thought you were referring to Mr. Kinzel's son at Carowinds.... At Carowinds they have a Kinzel son....
Hank
...and speaking of the font used for The Fun and Only looking juvenile, it looks kinda Mickey Mouse-ish.
CincyMan98
This is all to be blamed on Planet Snoopy!
The Interpreter
...and the fact that, with Cedar Fair's financial condition, the marketing budget (and capex) are mere peanuts.
Diamondback96
Or maybe they're just doggone crazy! No... more... tomatoes...
Diamondback FOF
I'm definitely not feeling the coolness of this slogan. I wonder how long it will be until I hear it on tv.
Jamesv7
When I read the title of this topic, I thought I was gonna see "King's Island - bring your son 'cos we don't have one". I'm glad I did not take a drink of my coffee while reading your post because my monitor would be covered with it.
specialk141
i kinda like it actually
standbyme
I actually don't mind the new slogan...it seems kinda retro. (I never cared for the "Where Else" one.) Edit: specialk141, I was typing my reply while you were posting yours...we must have been mind-melding? or something...we both like the words actually & kinda! The Interpreter
Kinda always reminds me of kingda...a name I hated the first several dozen times I heard it... Terpy, fond of Ka
CedarPointer
At this rate... 2010: "Kings Island: The Fun and Only" 2011: "Kings Island: Ride Till You Puke" 2012: "Kings Island: Under New Management"
KIfan1980
Sometimes I wonder if they could have come up with anything that most people on this site would have liked.
Dvo
^I agree. Granted I don't really like "The Fun and Only" at all, but it could be worse. How 'bout "Kings Island: Where we really don't care about Flight Deck."
The Interpreter
Conversely, if that latter WERE the new Kings Island slogan, I can readily think of at least a couple of people here who would defend it and think it brilliant!
jrstacy98
From what I've seen for amusement park slogans it's not that bad, it's just new and will take awhile for everyone to get used to. It's a lot better than "More Flags More Fun".
