Beast1979
Kings Island: Lower you're expectations and remember who you're dealing with. With any luck, maybe Apollo will hire some Management to come up with a decent slogan and paint what needs to be painted!
IslandAddict
Their new slogan should be... "Kings Island: Yup. Pretty much."
Diamondback96
At least "More Flags More Fun" makes some sense... This doesn't make any sense. I really don't know whether to be confused or laugh about this.

I really don't know whether to be confused or laugh about this. The biggest issue I have with it is that most slogans should roll off your tongue easily, this does not. I agree Hooky, when you say it out loud it leaves you thinking "What?"

Erosarrow05
so the question now should be come - how will this new slogan, that is immediately criticized by Kings Island's 'biggest fans', negatively affect your 2010 visits to Kings Island...
The Interpreter
And the answer, if people are honest, will, in almost every case be, "not at all."
maverick2007
^^No effect. I don't go to parks because of slogans. And ads don't really affect me because I already know I'm going.
CedarPointer
So you're saying that the shouldn't try to make a slogan that actually sounds appealing? If it "doesn't affect your 2010 visits to Kings Island", then why do they have a slogan at all?

Erosarrow05
So you're saying that the shouldn't try to make a slogan that actually sounds appealing? If it "doesn't affect your 2010 visits to Kings Island", then why do they have a slogan at all? Who is to say it isnt appealing? I hardly think this Kings Island fan site would be considered a fair research group. Furthermore, the reason why Kings Island and countless other companies have slogans is very simply, advertising. You see a logo or the slogan/tagline and you recognize the company easier, it gives you more ways to remember them in the long run. If I were to list 10 slogans / taglines without the company name, would you recognize the company? Lets give it a whirl shall we? 1. Just do it 2. Eat Fresh 3. Reach out and touch someone 4. Think outside the bun 5. Im lovin' it 6. Taste the rainbow 7. So easy a caveman can do it 8. The quicker picker upper 9. The breakfast of champions 10. Mmm Mmm Good! These slogans fill one purpose, they make the product or company they represent more identifiable and available to the consumer/target market. Do these slogans call into question the quality of product they offer? No. Would I be able to tell you each one of the companies by just looking at the tagline? Absolutely. Cedarpointer, Im glad I could help you understand why companies come up with these little phrases. You can disagree with me all you like, and by all means you are certainly entitled to, but I've spent a fair amount of time in school earning more than one sheet of paper that helped me get jobs in the advertising and marketing arena... The Interpreter
And of those companies, which ones change their slogan almost every single year? Answer: None of them. Constancy and consistency is important. Repetition is important. Why keep changing. Come on, get happy!

KIfan1980
Thats why I did not respond with my opinion. It seems if you don't like something or try to share you thoughts even at times if they are negative, some one will come along and try to Dub those opinions as a Donnie/Debie Downer. Just to be clear, I'm perfectly happy for everyone to share their opinion (positive or negative toward KI/CF). My criticism comes in that some people just always seem to be negative or find fault in almost everything that KI/CF does. I was 9 out of 10 on your list, although I'd also point out that many of these and slogans in general do not always represent a company, but rather a brand. In some cases the brand is the company, but not always.
The Interpreter
Kings Island is also a brand and not the company, which currently is FUN.
CedarPointer
Also... I have a feeling that many of those companies focus group tested many slogans which led them to use their current one. I highly doubt KI focus group tested theirs at all.
Diamondback FOF
And of those companies, which ones change their slogan almost every single year? Answer: None of them. Constancy and consistency is important. Repetition is important. Why keep changing. Come on, get happy! My World History teacher always says: "Repetition is the key to learning!" And it is (mostly) true. In my opinion, it is important for a company to keep a slogan. It makes them more recognizable because people will hear that slogan for them for years, and always connect it to them. If they change it, people no longer have that connection between a company and its slogan, so it may hurt the company.
Jasper
My favorite KI slogan is definitely the old one they used in 1994 and the one that was used from 2005-2006. The first being, "Kings Island, where the magic of the movies meet the thrills of a lifetime." The one from 05-06, "Kings Island, The Best in Hollywood Entertainment, Now Playing." This new slogan will take a while to stick on me, I think eventually it will though.

bkroz
In my opinion, nearly anything is better than "2 Parks For the Price of 1!", which was featured prominently on every billboard, map, brochure, and advertisement of [nearly] every Cedar Fair park for quite some time. In many cases, such parks had always been two parks for the price of one, leaving visitors unimpressed, or (in one particular, long-lost case) had actually been three parks for the price of one, leaving visitors less-than-amused with the twofer offer. That being said, I think "The One and Only" would actually be better than "Fun and Only." Puns are only clever when they have a double / reversible meaning... Literally saying that a park is "fun and only" doesn't make sense. So it's not really much of a pun. It's just... Well, in my opinion, stupid. But I've heard worse, and will likely hear worse in the future, too. Again, though, consistency would be pretty nice when you think about it. And while "Where else?" was kind of stupid (I, too, preferred 'The Best of Hollywood Entertainment - Now Playing'), it was growing on me. The Interpreter
Well they had left the building. I always liked "Where thrills are paramount" and "paramount thrills."
kjkjkj
I wish Kings Island would hold some sort of contest for people to come up with a new unique slogan. It would be nostalgic of how the park was actually named. And it would be a great way for people to get excited about Kings Island and get people thinking about Kings Island a lot, trying to come up with slogans. shark6495
Agreed with everyone above. Slogans should be somewhat long lasting. When Slogans or tag lines are changed constantly then people will have a hard time remembering it and the product. Again a slogan will not change my opinion about where to go for a theme park in Southwest Ohio, but it could help change someone in Columbus. Everyone knows that after a great victory or win you would say "Im going to disney world" or "Where dreams come true", you know they are talking about Disney Land/world.... The thing is no one is going to think "Fun and Only" oh Kings Island. Think about it Kroger tells you in their slogan they are "The Right Store. The Right Price." simply telling you they would be the best for you to buy groceries. However with Fun and Only, I feel like they have no idea what I consider fun and they are the only what? Come on Be happy, made me think happy thoughts, America's Family Entertainment told me it was good for families, but Fun and Only? I am not sure what is Fun and Only about KI.... Not saying KI is not fun but it makes me think weird and funny thoughts about the park. Kings Island the Fun and only park in the southwest of ohio with a roller coaster that is named beast....... Diamondback FOF
And they could give a season's pass away to the person with the best slogan. Giving a pass away would surely be cheaper than paying someone to come up with the current stuff.
