XGatorHead 8904
I went tonight and I liked certain things about it and disliked certain things. The lights looked very nice on the trees and bushes. The giant flowers that moved and opened and closed were great too... I wasn't expecting those. It certainly brought a lot of people into that area which typically wasn't all that busy before. The bubbles around the Sally light-up thing were a nice touch. But I was just expecting more. I thought I had read that the lights were supposed to sync up to the music. For the most part they didn't. The giant stars seemed to from time to time, but the lights on the trees and bushes didn't. They would dim and get brighter on occasion, but that's it. They were pretty much on all the time. They had characters out for people to meet, which was a nice touch. But the location was bad and caused traffic flow problems. Sally was out in front of the floral clock, with the line to meet her stretching towards the tower. So if you wanted to continue around the curved path from Rivertown to Coney or vice versa, you had to jut up the walkway towards the tower and go around the line, then back down again. I saw plenty of people who weren't aware of having to go around the line, and as they were inadvertantly stepping in the way of people taking pictures of their friends/family with Sally, Sally's escort had to redirect them around the line. Also, besides the "Charlie Brown stripe" on the 50 ft level of the tower, the LED lights on the tower weren't on very much. The only time I saw them on was when we were in line for Monster, and the white LED's were flashing all up and down the tower. They looked nice when they were on. We were in the area for a good amount of time... we were in the general vicinity from 8:30 to 10:00... in that time we rode Carousel, Scrambler, went to look at the lights, rode Monster, then went back to the lights and waited for the fireworks. So it wasn't like I was in a completely different section of the park and missed them. And then there was the fireworks epic fail. They announced the fireworks at 10:00 and played the soundtrack. No fireworks. We waited. At 10:15 they announced the fireworks and played the soundtrack. No fireworks. We waited. At about 10:25, they played the park closing announcement. No announcement that there were not going to be any fireworks. Pretty much just, "Hey, by the way, we're closing now." Most people got the hint from that, as we did. What I meant was, there will be more to it than "hey look at the pretty lights - ok, I'm done now" For me, it was pretty much "hey look at the pretty lights - ok, I'm done now". Maybe they were having opening night technical difficulties. Or maybe I misunderstood the concept of Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular. I don't know. It's a nice area to walk through, but based on tonight, that's about it. Hopefully it was just technical difficulties. We'll see. I know a lot of people worked hard to put it together. The Interpreter
I'd imagine and suspect this is a work in progress, and will improve over time. Logistics take a while...things never go quite exactly as planned, and modifications must be made. I bet they will be....
XGatorHead 8904
^That's exactly what I'm thinking and hoping. I've been involved in plenty of events to know that they can be a learning process!
bkroz
I hope to see the lights on the Tower really utilized! A question: Is the Charlie Brown stripe only on the face of the tower pointing towards the Starlight Spectacular? Or is it on all four sides?
The Interpreter
The former...it's only on that side...
BoddaH1994
Gator - There are 3 shows "within" the total presentation. The first is the techno show, the second is the rock show and the third is a patriotic show... with the rock show being the best of the three, hands down. The shows are just a few minutes long and there is about 7 minutes of downtime between them in which they loop that Peanuts-theme sounding song. Next time you're at the park, stay in the area from 9:30 until 10:00 and you'll see all three. The three shows are really really cool, but I agree that the random lighting between them isn't much to write home about. Ryan
The Interpreter
But...you can see the pretty lights.... Terp, who is reminded of nickels!
XGatorHead 8904
^And for 20 nickels, you can buy 3-D glasses at all entrance points to Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular! Ryan, I must have hit it at the wrong time, and maybe they started the shows after I was there, even though we stood a good while in the lights. The Interpreter
Terp thinks he deserves a few nickels for not making any comparisons to the quality of experience at a local zoo... Terp, cross threading (and being cross?)

Ryan, I must have hit it at the wrong time, and maybe they started the shows after I was there, even though we stood a good while in the lights. Yeah, I'm not in love with the format. If you don't know about the 3 parts of it then it's either easy to miss or it's easy to be tricked into thinking that it's over when it's not. I think 7 minutes between shows is too long. I realize that this stuff's expensive, but I think it would have been better to do 4 or 5 shows about 3 minutes apart.
XGatorHead 8904
Yup, I certainly didn't know about the three parts until you posted about them a little while ago. Who knows, maybe they'll change the format. I saw plenty of park management in that area tonight taking it all in!
The Interpreter
They need to try to do so as a guest who would not know about the three parts. Perhaps some sort of announcement before the show and or during the show about the parts? Or at least something in the shows brochure (which, sadly, few read)? benred23
We actually went on Friday Night And saw the "preview Show" If you will. All the KI Big Wigs were hanging around checking it out. I Asked them if this was a preview and they said yeah, just makin sure all the bugs are worked out. I thought they did a Wonderful Job on it though. Lights goin up the Eiffel Tower and everything. All the peanuts characters dancing around with the kids and stuff, very fun!

Also, besides the "Charlie Brown stripe" on the 50 ft level of the tower, the LED lights on the tower weren't on very much. ? I went on preview night on Friday, and not only did the lights sync to the music very well (And there was also a great playlist, everything from Peanuts theme to Guns and Roses) but the tower lit up to the music. When the music hit the grand finale, the entire area nearly went spastic. The Stars changed colors rapidly, the lights on the bushes and trees blinked in unison, the light arches near Backlot bounced back and forth and lights shot up and down the Tower wile the Stripe changed color. It was very cool. For the most part, the entire area worked very well. Maybe it was having difficulties on Saturday night. I highly suggest you try it again. The Interpreter
Or....perhaps Friday night, being media night, things were a bit more "majestic" than later. Terp, who more than once has had incredibly grand experiences on a media day not ever repeated again (see, for instance: Tomb Raider: The Ride....which, on media day, completely and thoroughly doused at least 1/3 of the riders...a Paramount exec's young son, who was perhaps 10, had to be carried out of the chilly park in a warm blanket, and was wailing and far less than amused...and the water effects never again saw the extensive use they saw that day, to my knowledge...) Funny enough, Terpy, the same thing happened to me only a few days ago. The only difference was that I spilled a cup of water on myself right before I entered the Crypt.... Winterfestguy
Great job on Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular - For winter time, change the sound tracks, add the ice rink with a few decorations, return Santa's Toy Factory and Home for the Holidays shows and you have an instant Winterfest. Just wishful thinking .....
