Diamondbacker27
It states online, KK will be getting a $15 Million coaster, that will not take up to much space with not a lot of track, a Family Wooden coaster, and a 135 foot swinging tower.. But as the AT&T COMMERCIAL SAYS... 'Not everything You hear on the internet is true."

But as the AT&T COMMERCIAL SAYS... 'Not everything You hear on the internet is true." And that is most certainly not true. It may be what they WANT to do, but without a lease or money to fund a design those plans are a long way off. He has to get a lease, secure funding and open a park first.

thomasws6
I still say they pull out. And I say this because if I was spending that much of my own money, i'd want people to know what was going on and get excited so i can have a ROI.

Oh I'm sure, but if the State balks and Ed walks, that will be the end of the area possibly ever becoming an amusement park again. The highest and best use for that land never was a park to begin with...
The Interpreter
I suspect the lease WILL happen. Then the severely undercapitalized park will die a slow, agonizing death, if it opens at all.
sccard01
Ed is the last person who is going to walk. But yeah, the park should have never been built on this property and it wasn't expected to be permanent...but things just got permanent. The Interpreter
Yes. Ed will be the last person to walk. Then, the state will have to face the music.
Coaster.Rider.Kings Island
I somehow deep inside of me want Kentucky Kingdom to reopen and thrive for many years to come, but in reality that is most likely not going to happen. Its almost time to say goodbye to the Kingdom.
The Interpreter
Wow. Wow. Talk about over-leveraged, undercapitalized and a shell corporation set up to take the fall should the venture fail: http://m.bizjournals.com/louisville/news/2013/06/26/kentucky-kingdom-developers-say-they.html?r=full Astonishing. Simply astonishing.
Gordon Bombay
It'll be interesting to see what... If anything... "reopens" in 2014.
jcgoble3
I predict that Kentucky Kingdom will reopen on May 24, 2014. It will then fail by the end of the season, and close permanently before the start of the 2015 season. By 2020, everything will have been torn down and the land will have been put to some other use. I don't have a crystal ball or anything; that's just a wild guess.

Its almost time to say goodbye to the Kingdom. I agree with you on that! I'd love to see the park re-open and thrive like it once did.....But I unfortunately just don't see it happening, if anything happens. I suppose within the next 3 to 4 hours we should know more about the fate of the Kingdom....Which I'm curious to hear... KK's website is down. That's probably due to some possible updates they could be making this morning.....(Just a guess).... And as stated by a wise man in this topic before.....June 27, 2013....Its here folks.... TheBEASTunchained
Sorry for the double post, Just wanted to show the "New Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay" logo. thomasws6
no T2 till 2015 and no TT until 2016 huh. Interesting. No date for the "New" coaster either. Edit. helps to read the FAQ closer. I guess it's being installed for 2014. And I hope T2 is smoother after it's transformation. I never rode the twins.
kblanken
from their website: (http://www.kentuckykingdom.com/kentucky-kingdom-launches-biggest-expansion-in-the-25-year-history-of-the-park/) "...we are well on our way to converting the two intertwined wooden coasters known as Twisted Twins into a much superior ride, which will debut in 2016." I hadn't seen anything about this part before, but wtf?

Gordon Bombay
Notice in the press release that aside from the two coaster renovations, he doesn't mention when anything else will open. Even the water park attractions aren't announced for a specific date. I'm still waiting to hear what exactly will be open when the counter at the top of that page hits 0?

thomasws6
Maybe they are converting TT to a steel structure? I wonder just how bad T2 was to need another year of rehab? Or was it put on the back burner to fix everything else?
