Gordon Bombay
^ I have read that too. Funny how things didn;t used to be designed suicide or stupidity proof. Browntigrr you are so right. As a School Counselor I see it all the time. Kudos to you my friend, that's a tough job to have.
KIanatic1975
I love comparing pictures. It's pretty cool to see how much the park has changed.
CoastersRZ
Once Flying Dutchman was removed and Adventure Express opened, I believe the midway was slightly closer to Skylab than what was seen in that picture.
Truth Seeker
^ I have read that too. Funny how things didn;t used to be designed suicide or stupidity proof. Browntigrr you are so right. As a School Counselor I see it all the time. The sad thing is they really set their kids back by being that way. It sends some pretty dysfunctional messages. Like the lady who is furious that her kid is getting bullied (I investigatyed and he is the bully), comes in to yell at our staff and then keeps him home for the 1st 2 days of STEP (standardized testing). This lady actually had a newsletter from 13 years ago when her daughter had the same teacher that her son has now. She is still furious over the teacher's comment that 'mumbling is her number one beef." It was directed to the whole class, doesn;t sound rude and is a common complaint of teachers... and this woman still got red in the face with anger when she talked about it. Wow! Let it go! As a practicing physcologist, I feel your pain. Sometimes people never want to listen...

As a School Counselor I see it all the time. Kudos to you my friend, that's a tough job to have. I am watching public education absolutely fall apart. My daughter is in Montessori and most of my teacher friends (even public as I am) refuse to send their children to public schools. Sorry to be so off topic, we are starting our next major national crisis and this one will be nasty when these kids enter the work force. Burgtoad67
This picture makes me cry in two ways, with the looping Son of Beast being present and the not so long ago removal of King Cobra
KIanatic1975
Wow, it looks so odd not seeing Delirium. But then again when King Cobra was tore down, I said the same thing.
jandyb79
No offense to those who like it, but I have never been a fan of Delirium. For me, it is painful seeing images like this one and knowing what was...is no more. I know change is a part of life, but sometimes it's just hard to digest. KIfan1980
I love the pictures but this thread is starting to depress me a little. When it began I thought - wow, what a cool way to count down. Then today I looked and said - arghhh, not even half way there yet Looking forward the next picture, and the one after that, and the one that says "Photo 1" most of all. TylerRider
Photo 57 I'm so stupid, I thought this was the foundation for FoF for like ten minutes. I realized that Son of Beast was there.
IndyGuy4KI
Photo 57 I'm so stupid, I thought this was the foundation for FoF for like ten minutes. I realized that Son of Beast was there. I remember being at the park and seeing that foundation in a similar state and was totally stumped on what it was.

KIanatic1975
I used to love the King Cobra. But now I like Delirium a lot better.
KIfan1980
I also used to love King Cobra, but now I like Delirium a lot better ... only because it is there to be ridden
McSalsa
Photo 55 Wow, this is gonna be Deja Vu (NO TERPY, not the roller coaster at Six Flags!), but do you have this park map too TOPGUN1993? I'd love to see it posted if it is possible... McSalsa, whom obviously enjoys looking at old KI park maps!
Pagoda Gift Shop
I'll take King Cobra over Delirium.
KIfan73
...if for no other reason than for it's landscaping...it's a shame that concrete and aluminum have taken the place of wood and foliage...
The Interpreter
Well, that and gallons and gallons of red paint...
CoastersRZ
Gallons and gallons of red paint? Confused as to what exactly you are referring to.
The Interpreter
Concrete, aluminum, gallons and gallons of red paint...much of what passes for theming/landscaping...both in Cedar Fair parks and in the latter days of Paramount, where cheap and cheerful was the order of the day (especially under CBS). Aaron88stang
I had forgotten about the laser maze until seeing it on that map.
ParkMake
Am I the only one who thinks that map looks fairly distorted? Everything seems tilted, squeezed, and stretched in terms of layout. And I thought the laser maze was in Coney Mall, not Oktoberfest.
CoastersRZ
Well, according to that map, there was a lazer maze next to the Festhaus. It obviously was not the same building as the recently demolished building (originally the Cinema 360 building) that resided in Coney Mall. TOPGUN1993
Lazer Maze? Cinema 180* was still in operation at the time of this map (1992) Photo
The Interpreter
And that style of map was very popular back then, and quite frankly, far less distorted than some of the maps Cedar Fair used as recently as last year!
markr
Actually I think the Cedar Fair maps are kind of cute in their silly cartoonlike portrayal of the coasters.
