CoastersRZ
Any date associated with that picture Paul?
TOPGUN1993
No, but I'm going to guess 1996.
CoastersRZ
Ok. Any particular reason for the 1996 guess?
TOPGUN1993
I thought it was next to a Flight of Fear media teaser photo, but it's not. So I'll say its 1986 when it was new.

KILateNighter
How Cedar Fair would of done it! I couldn't resist! http://img691.imageshack.us/f/ki96fearsign.jpg/
rotag
you forgot to take out the paramount movie/show title (The Outer Limits)
The Interpreter
Paramount? Uh, I don't think so. And Cedar Fair DID license the Intimidators, don't forget...
rotag
your right, but know i find it weird that an MGM production existed in a Paramount Park.
standbyme
Paul...as always thanks for continuing to come up with interesting photos. Here's a little companion piece to your photo:

The Interpreter
Media day...I think....
standbyme
^Yeah it's from media day...sorry I didn't specify that.
XGatorHead 8904
your right, but know i find it weird that an MGM production existed in a Paramount Park. That's because the revived The Outer Limits series aired on Showtime, which was owned by Viacom, from 1995 to 2001.
Jasper
Old FOF stuff is always the best IMO. I am loving these pictures.
Pagoda Gift Shop
Haha, it should say "Present this for one head-bangin ride on Flight of Fear."
The Interpreter
your right, but know i find it weird that an MGM production existed in a Paramount Park. That's because the revived The Outer Limits series aired on Showtime, which was owned by Viacom, from 1995 to 2001. And then, it wasn't....and the rides got renames...sorta. For 2001, no less... Haha, it should say "Present this for one head-bangin ride on Flight of Fear." Amen to that. Removing the OTSR's on those rides (and the Messrs Freeze and even more so on Batman and Robin: The Chiller) were perhaps the best improvements ever made to an existing ride...except turning Steel Phantom into Phantom's Revenge...for the very same reason... TOPGUN1993
Photo 24 I always thought it was cool how you entered via the center of the hub.
Timbo1
TopGun1993, Great picture kinda looks like a short version of WindSeeker though WS does not have rotating cars. Very cool angle.
Outdoor Man
TopGun1993, Great picture kinda looks like a short version of WindSeeker though WS does not have rotating cars. Very cool angle. now... what if they replaced the chairs for WS with the rotating seats of Flight Commander..... NOW THAT would be a thrill ride worth waiting 4 hours for. That line starts behind me. Pagoda Gift Shop
I've always been sad that I never got the chance to ride Flight Commander. I missed it by maybe 2 years...or about 3 inches.
KIfan73
I remember seeing FC in operation, and thinking "there's no way I'm getting on that!" (and no, at the time, I was not aware of the very sad events tied to FC).
jandyb79
This was the first ride I ever went upside down on. I remember putting my hand on the controller, closing my eyes and waiting until I barrel turned over to the other side...I didn't realize at the time that this was far more scary than just getting on a roller coaster where centrifugal force holds you in your seat - FC did not!!! Beast Man
Photo 42 Is this supposed to be Kings Island or Kings Dominion? The buildings look much more like KD's rather than KI's.
The Interpreter
And note also the fountains...which ARE very much like Kings Dominion's, and not at all like Kings Island's.
markr
I am reasonably sure that is a photo of KI and not KD. The European theming to me looks like signature KI.

Delirium13
That's a model of Tomb Raider.
supergreek35
Photo 24 I always thought it was cool how you entered via the center of the hub. Being an enthusiast of that particular location of the park. This picture is amazing, probably the best picture of flight commander i have ever seen/found. I am very impressed.
