Six Flags Entertainment Corporation (NYSE: SIX), the world's largest regional theme park company, today announced an exclusive three-year partnership naming New York-based pizza chain, Famous Famiglia, "The Official Pizza of Six Flags." The multi-faceted deal will span all of Six Flags' US-based theme parks, encompassing over 45 food locations and a strong in-park marketing platform slated to begin March 2011. Famous Famiglia is the leader in venue and stadium fresh-serve pizzerias with over 130 locations worldwide.

To launch the new offering, Six Flags has created a unique marketing program promoting Famous Famiglia through a variety of in-park Six Flags Media Networks channels including commercials on Six Flags Television and use of the parks' digital out-of-home assets. In addition, select parks will introduce a number of co-branded events including Famous Famiglia dough tossing and pizza eating contests. As part of Six Flags' new online retail promotion, guests will be able to pre-order Famous Famiglia meals prior to visiting the parks.

"We are continually evolving our partnerships to provide our guests with the highest quality of brands while using our innovative in-park media networks to support our partners' marketing objectives," said David McKillips, senior vice president of corporate alliances for Six Flags.

"We are very excited about the introduction of the Famous Famiglia brand into the Six Flags markets," said Paul Kolaj, company co-founder, President & CEO of Famous Famiglia. "Six Flags is a globally recognized and respected leader in the regional theme park industry, and we are honored to have been selected as their pizza partner."

I haven't, but any thing would be better than Poopa Johns. :)

I beg to disagree. The crapola Cedar Point served last year made Pappa John's seem wonderful.

I loved pre-2010 Chuckwagon Pizza at CP. Now, I'd rather forage from garbage cans than eat Cedar Point's poor excuse for pizza...orange grease, doughy crust, cheap pepperoni, orange grease, tasteless tomato sauce, orange grease, rubbery tasteless cheese and orange grease. And the bottom of your cheap paper plate will be translucent, from all the orange grease.

YUCK.

Am NOT eating Cedar Point's pizza when (or if, though I hope I do) I visit them.

Could you tell us more about that orange grease? laugh.gif

Personally, I actually enjoyed the pizza at CP last year. Was it greasy? yep. Do I like it that way? Possibly.... :)

"I'll have an orange grease with the artificial pizza-like substance."

I ate at Chuckwagon pizza back in August of 2009, and thought the food was quite tasty. I was sorry to see it disappear...

I typically do not buy pizza at amusement parks, in part because I am not a fan of paying nearly $3 for a slice of pizza. (I will however, buy pizza when that is served in Coney`s employee cafe, because then it is only $1 a slice (and the soft drinks are 50 cents, but that is a perk of being an employee at Coney, lol)...

That picture of the pizza looks like the one I got. I got it at the stand near the front of the park, right next to the loop on Raptor.

Very interesting indeed. I had personally never heard of them until I read this article. I am still a big fan of the local chain Dewey`s Pizza, even though their prices are a bit higher than typical pizza places. They have wonderful pizza, although the sauce has a bit of kick in it. There are several located around the Cincinnati area. The original in Oakley, there is one in Kenwood, Clifton, West Chester, Newport on the Levee, Harper`s Point, and Crestview Hills. They also have some locations in Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland and St. Louis.

Yep. And this is only a three year deal with Flags. I can well remember how excited Mama Ilardo's, I think it was, was at IAAPA when they landed Hersheypark. Or Papa John's at Flags.

LaRosa's has had a very long relationship with Kings Island, and I think it has been good for both parties (and for the patrons!).

Correct me if I`m wrong, but wasn`t LaRoas`s not going to be the pizza that was served at KI? Hadn`t some other pizza chain originally been selected, but it ultimately did not work out and LaRosa`s was used instead?

LaRosa`s is also served at Coney Island. And they are the title sponsor for Coney`s big LaRosa`s Balloon Glow every year on July 3rd. This will be the 12th year for the balloon glow. And if you have ever been, it is a day full of fun entertainment from bands, stilt walkers and jugglers, to of course, the glowing balloons. The whole event is capped off my Rozzi`s Famous Fireworks shooting off a dazzling show above the shores of Lake Como. If you have never been, I recommend checking it out this year!

It's from the CP employee cafe, I'm sure is the same type sold out in the park.

That could explain why it looks good...

Some people tend to take better care of their perpared foods if they personally know the customer.

Is the last image you posted an example of the 2010 pizza or 2009? I assume based on the amount of grease in that last image you posted, that is the example from 2010?

They have *gasp* LIDS AND STRAWS?

I actually like the 2010 pizza better myself... although, honestly, I'm not a big fan of pizza. True story: for quite a while, I thought the LaRosa's pizza I ate somewhere almost daily was a cheap cafeteria pizza. Shows what I know. rolleyes.gif

I've had this stuff at Port Columbus once or twice... it's good. Safe, but good.

There was also a Famiglia location inside Easton Town Center for a while, but that space has since been filled by a Sbaro.

And I'm with Terpy on the Chuck Wagon pizza @ CP... they made lots of noise in 2010 about their "fresh made" crust (as compared to the frozen they'd use previously) but it was awful.

Woah. May have spoke too soon. The 2010 Pizza from that picture actually looks good.

And another thing...Kings Island, a Cedar Fair park, has Coca-Cola...while Cedar Point, another Cedar Fair park, has Pepsi? Weird!

Posted

Because shortly before CBS left the building, they signed a multi-year contract with Coca-Cola. Cedar Fair`s legacy parks have had Pepsi products for many years. To get out of either contract likely would have cost quite a few nickles.

Ahh...thank you.

But this means...once the Coca-Cola contract DOES expire...DA DA DUM!

JK, in all seriousness, I like Pepsi...and Coke...and RC Cola...so I don't care what the park serves. Although some might.
