Coasting for Kids

Featured Replies

Cedar Fair is hosting the Coasting for Kids event this year on July 24th.

Kings Island participants will get to marathon Racer from 8AM-5PM. This year Kings Island is upping the rider limit from 60 to 75.

This event was a blast year and a lot of money was raised for a good cause. Sadly, we are having my daughters B-day party on this same day so I will have to miss out.

Edit---Corrected my info. Thanks for the reminder about last year Don :)

I was really looking forward to participating this year since I couldn't last year. Unfortunately, that's the day we're flying back from vacation so I can't do it again. :(

You just can't seem to win this one can you gator?

I can't. Last year it was on July 29th and I was on vacation then too. I just looked at my 2010 calendar and I was at Schlitterbahn that day. I guess I just need to stop planning July vacations!

I signed up! Can't wait for my second year. It was really fun last year, and for a really good cause.

From reports last year, it sounds like it was a ton of fun! I'm interested in doing it! If you have a season pass, do you still have to pay the $40?

If I weren't already taking 4 days off of work that week to go to Nashville, I'd definitely do this. Sounds like fun!

I remember last year while reading everyone's posts how much fun it was...so this year I am in! :)

It is indeed a very good time and Lunch at the old restaurant was icing on the cake. This year they are doing the awards AFTER the event in the Picnic Area. I am very disappointed to miss this years event :(

I loved last years event even though we STILL havent gotten our shirts.......dry.gif

Last year I was at KBF the day of this event. This year I'll be in Williamsburg. Like you Gator - I need to adjust the vacation timing for 2012.

Sorry for the double post, but the below copied from the FAQ's explains the $40 fee. It is different than last year - but when you read the rationale, it does make a certain amount of sense.

-----------------

Why is there a $40 upfront registration fee this year?

In prior years there was a large number of people who completed the complimentary registration but did not fundraise. Some parks have to limit the number of participants that can take part in the event. By instituting the $40 registration fee this year, Give Kids The World will be able to better track the number of active participants and allow space for those passionate about theme parks and Give Kids The World!

Am I still able to raise the $40 registration fee?

While the registration fee is required upfront, you may still raise the $40 prior to signing up—try getting a friend or family member to sponsor your initial registration.

Neither have we. We also didn't get the Certificate that Don told my wife would be mailed to her.

  • 2 weeks later...

Across all of the parks, we are up to 110 participants who have raised a total of $13,941 so far. Keep up the good work guys. Our goal this year is $50,000.

This year we will be at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo to ride roller coasters for Give Kids the World Village. Last year we rode Racer at Kings Island 106 times during the event which raised over $30,000.
