IndyGuy4KI
Thanks for sharing, this is good info for the paranormal groups that visit KI as well! I wonder where that building actually set on the property?
The Interpreter
It's still there. It's back behind Beast, by the river. And don't even think of trespassing, the landowner has been known to prosecute.
dakota2112
If this is the same building I'm thinking of, I don't think it's on KI property, and it isn't anywhere near Beast. It's northeast of the park, on the other side of the Little Miami River, on Grandin Road. (maybe sorta kinda "behind" Son of Beast?) You can see the tops of the factory's brick tower and smokestack from the Eiffel Tower.
faeriewench
That is Peters Cartridge Company. I got some pictures of it for those who probably never got a look at it http://www.flickr.com/photos/ki_faerie_wench/sets/72157624146068809/
dakota2112
Hopefully this link works... http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=qjrmmq7zct2p&lvl=18&dir=180&sty=b&where1=Kings%20Mills%2C%20OH&form=LMLTCC
faeriewench
The link doesn't work for me...might be my internet. The main building for Peters Cartridge is more behind the Son of Beast than The Beast. The catwalks that used to connect to other buildings go practically nowhere now. Shaggy
I always heard that "Kings Island" was named by a young girl. Her name, I don't know, but she won a "Name the new park" contest held prior to KI being constructed. She was the one that coupled the two words together to form the park name - and as a reward she has a lifetime pass. At least that's what they said in the speech given at the 25th anniversary banquet I attended years ago.

When I worked Admissions, there was one time that I was at the front gate that the woman came up to Guest Relations to get her ticket in for the day. When I heard that she was there, I just had to get a look at the person who came up with the name. It seems such a simple thing to combine Kings Mills and Coney Island, but I don't know that I would have thought of it. Kudos to her for thinking of that as a little girl. kingsrattler
^ Children's minds have a way of taking the things we look to be so complicated, and see the simpleness in it all. Take for example.. Ear Muffs. The idea came from a child.
