Did you know...

I did notice that the "service fee" is zero, which leads me to believe that at one point that may have been $5 and the printing fee was zero.

I know that as of May 2010 when I purchased my first gold pass online, both the service and printing fees were zero. I also know that as of early August of this year, when I purchased a Fast Lane pass online, the printing fee was $3.

Has anyone else noticed that you have a $5.00 fee for Etickets, and two other fees for how you want your 2012 passes delivered to you? What happened to free Etickets when you purchased a season pass?

Then the KD opening day experience must be entirely different from the KI opening day experience...

Ouch... Year after year after year it's an ouch, but still no one sees the value of a technical rehearsal day for season pass-holders...

Really? I didn't think opening day 2009 or 2010 went too poorly. OD 2011 was a little crazy, though... Rides were down all over the place.

A friend of mine visited for the first time on opening day 2010 and vowed never to return... She swore that Backlot Stunt Coaster, Flight of Fear, and The Beast were down most of the day, and that Invertigo and The Crypt had bouts of downtime. I imagine Firehawk was the same. As the Interpreter always says, to the average guest, a ride being closed when they attempt to ride it may as well be the ride being down all day.

But the point is, every year in recent memory that I've heard of via friends or seen here, any ride with any level of complex operation or more than just a simple chain lift ends up not working, be it because of inexperienced employees who have never had the chance to run the ride with real people, or simply parts that have not been warmed up. That was much less of an issue during technical rehearsal days in previous years. And at the very least, it ensured that anyone who was in the park (and thus, likely to experience extended downtime or closed rides) was a passholder that would have the chance to return.

I renewed my Platinum Pass online this year and was not charged a fee. Why would I? I mean I didn't even have to print anything. I used the same pass from last year. Didn't even have to re take my picture.

That makes too much sense; I called and they only use the existing pass renewal up until 10-31; We can renew our existing passes, but are asked to show it when we go to pass processing next season, and still have to pay an E-download fee... a bogus way to get more money out of guest.

Way back when I was in college, the Bank charged an additional fee if you went inside and talked to the teller - the intent was to get people to start banking with the ATM.

Back then it seemed fees were used to drive behavior - now fees are used to make money I in my opinion.

Wow... that doesn't make any sense. The technology's there to renew passes, why not use it all the time and not only in the fall? What happened to making things convenient and easier for the guest? When I was in Admissions in the Paramount era we were discussing automatic renewals way back then. Our main intent in pushing for it was to make things easier for the guests and reduce the time guests had to wait in line for processing. If the information you were given is correct, this is a step backwards and flies in the face of what we were striving for years ago.

EDIT: And it appears the information is correct. I went to the park's website, clicked as if I was buying a renewal gold pass, entered a name and clicked Continue, and at no point did it give me a place to put in a season pass number. Wow...

I'm old, Gator B) , but I try to give good info on here.

It's just a way to get that extra $5.00; they did have two other prices/options to get your passes for next season if you needed them sooner (but you would still have to get a picture on that new pass). But then it depends on who you talk to there at KI; last year the website said you also had to show your old pass like this year to get the new one when you renewed an existing pass, but they don't ask to see the old one when you process; we were also told last year we would be using/keeping the old pass when we renewed at pass processing (no new plastic) they gave us the new one.

Anyone else can call the park and ask about renewing their pass with your existing id number; I hope you get the same response I received.

As for the Eticket price; I find it hard to belive that KI is using new software for the Eticket delivery; it has been free for how many years to use when you purchase online?? I can't see them justifying a charge now for using a system they have most likely had in place and been usng all along; there is no human interaction after you hit the submit key; and the customer is using their own paper and ink to print them out.

And KD insists that renewals can only be bought in person at the park.

Perhaps I won't be buying a pass next year, either. They can make things easy and collect lots of money, or they can make them hard and

accept the fact they are going to lose at least some customers over it. They could collect money from me NOW and have it. But by insisting on physical presence to renew/process, they ARE going to lose some customers.

People may want to visit fun parks, but they don't necessarily have to be FUN parks. Just off the top of my head, I can think of SIX other choices.

I never got a new pass this year. I used the same exact pass from last year. I'm really confused as to why you even had to go through processing again, because I never had to.

Edit. And I renewed mine online never even spoke to anyone at the park about it. I simply put my pass number in on the website paid the price with my debit card and bam it was done. Never spoke to anyone or went through processing. Went right up to the gate on opening day and it worked.

I also didn't do this till about a week before opening last year. There is no renewal for platinum passes right now but there probably will be later since you don't get a discount on them like you would by purchasing a gold pass right now.

Sorry, I wasn't questioning your honesty. I was questioning the validity of the info that the park gave you, which turned out to be true, sadly. Sorry if I offended you in any way!

I will go to KD next year but not on opening day and not if I am penalized for not renewing in person. I paned on starting at Carowinds and then hitting KD and that trip won't happen till after CP and KI. I'm having second thoughts about even taking the trip now. Will CF parks ever learn to get along?
