icecoldfirebird Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 they might be adding another crappy Halloween Haunt maze 1
SonofBaconator Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 They need a smaller ride. Maybe a ride like Sky Hawk in Cedar Point.
TheCrypt Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 The reason everyone was so unhappy with it was becuase it was so short only 2 flips and if they made it longer it would be a very popular ride Do not generalize... Don't you think that if Cedar Fair could make it much more thrilling, they would have? The ride, sad to say, was on life support in it's last years, and the 9-flip cycle did a couple numbers on the machinery as well. When the ride was Tomb Raider: The Ride, it suffered moisture exposure (something the ride was never meant to be exposed to), causing problems with the machinery. I loved The Crypt for what it offered, and I didn't expect anything more. The pleasant surprises I found were what made the ride wonderful. Also, The Crypt would be seen in the public's eyes as a ride that wasted their time, so why would they ride something that wasted their time, even though marketing says otherwise.
TopThrill Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Anyone know how much the ride cost to build when it opened?
ohiocolts Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Anyone know how much the ride cost to build when it opened? Someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't it around $20,000,000? 1
McSalsa Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 ^ Yep. $20,000,000. Same as Son of Beast. Only Diamondback was a more expensive investment for Kings Island when it debuted in 2009 at $22,000,000. Makes me kind of sad: $40,000,000- down the tube on what were SUPPOSED to be Paramount's 2 biggest, best rides they ever added to the park. Instead, their best rides they added were Flight of Fear, Drop Tower, and Delirium...at least in my opinion.
The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Top Gun aka Swoop was a Lindner addition. At the most, Paramount themed and named it.
SonofBaconator Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Maybe thay could tear it down and put in some scenery for DB and the train.
tuxedoman52 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Kings Island also announced on their Twitter feed that, “The Crypt has reached the end of its service life. Will be replaced by an all-new Halloween Haunt experience.” While putting the building to use, short-term at least, as a new Haunt is a good idea, it really is a shame that what was imagined as being such a unique thrill ride concept back in the days of Tomb Raider, lasted less than a decade before being shut down. beastrider97 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The crypt use to hurt boys private parts too thats why My nephew didnt like that well As does Delirium, yet that is still standing.
beastrider97 Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 ^But not operating most of the time. Reminds me of SOB!
Gordon Bombay Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 I'm almost 100% positive that the first row from The Crypt was used on Delirium's seats. I do not believe so. If you take a look at Delirium's seats, they are bracketed and have different backs that fit to the Delirium gondola, the Crypt seats were similar, but different. There's a member of this site who knows for sure, I'll see if I can get him to rear his head.
AZ Kinda Guy Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 The only thing interchangeable is the hardware behind you that people can not see and the restraint itself. The actual fiberglass seat is not. 1
TheCrypt Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Thank you for clearing this up for me, AZ. That seems pretty cost effective, right? You could, in theory, replace all 50 of Delirium's seats this offseason, and only need to cast 50 new fiberglass seats, with little cost to the park. Although, I have no idea what fiberglass costs these days, so it could be expensive. Plus, you'd have 6 extra seats just in case! Or you could just keep the same shells and replace the hardware and restraints.
TheBEASTunchained Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I'd like to know what type of HAUNT attraction that there putting inside the old Crypt building.
rsipus13 Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 and what about wolf pack... that spot where that was at is getting demolished.
The Interpreter Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 It has been said it will remain as is this fall.
TheCrypt Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) It has already been announced that Wolf Pack will still be an active Haunt this year. EDIT: Darn Terp, you beat me to it! Edited July 28, 2012 by TheCrypt

TheCrypt Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Last year's Wolf Pack was amazing. I was totally blown away by it. 2010, not so much. 1
Original Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 (From Screamscape) (7/31/12) We know Kings Island was planning on putting the former Crypt attraction building to use for Halloween Haunt, but according to the latest rumors, we may see the huge indoor space put to use to hold a two or possibly even three level haunted house structure. Thought this may help...
raptor Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 I saw this rumor on Screamscape, and I'll cross my fingers on that, that would be awesome, amusement parks just don't have enough dark rides anymore.

Tanna Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Last year's Wolf Pack was amazing. I was totally blown away by it. 2010, not so much. My pack of wolves were stoners.
CoasterOhio Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Anyone think that they will add a Haunt into the Crypt's building?
