Love the photo of the letter. As a Public Relations major it is nice to see some PR related stuff from a time when the park was just beginning to blossom.

Worth noting in the Monster photo are The Racer trains, which featured four cars per train when the ride originally opened in 1972. Due to the ride's popularity, a fifth car was added in 1973 to incr

  • Wow, that Flight of Fear picture brings back a lot of memories. It was a very warm and sunny June Monday. I just graduated from Princeton HS and was working in an office in St. Bernard. They didn't

I like today's Kings Mill photo...mostly because it shows the perfect amusement park ride...a ride the whole family can ride together. The family in the log look like they are having a great time*. :)

^ My thoughts exactly. It just makes you feel the old days too. I was born in 77 and that is the KI I remember adoring as a kid.

Looks great, I wonder If I'd like this or the current 2012 Oktoberfest better.

Yes.

Terp, in your heart you knew he would (besides, there is a 2012 Oktoberfest? In Germany, I bet!)

Oh, Oktoberfest when it was still Oktoberfest.

Those last two photos are really great. For the Oktoberfest photo, if I am nit mistaken aren't those the columns you can see while waiting in line for AE present day, the ones that look like they line the road? For the on ride photo of Vortex what year was this taken? I'm guessing somewhere between 1994-1997?

Paul, is that you in The Vortex photo in the second row on the right?

Looks freaky, to bad it wasn't in the phantom theater haunt display (Unless if I didn't see it). Love The Vortex photo!

Unfortunately, the Phantom Theatre photo reminds me of the loss of one of my fav KI rides ( before many of you were born), Enchanted Voyage.

That's a nice/interesting article about Scooby Zoom. I like the line "We worked hard to be able to give kids that first coaster experience with mom or dad".

Thanks for the daily photos! :)

Neat article. I'd love to see the page 14 continuation about the "lucky soul" that gets to be the first rider if you have that.

Keep em coming Paul. I love the photos that date back to the Paramount days and even before.

Reminds me of Robocop, which I believe came out the same year.

...Wow. I don't think I've ever seen the International Showplace that full before. Must have been a good show.

By the way, I don't think I've said it yet in this thread: these are really great pictures! Like with standbyme's photos, seeing stuff like this really helps the off-season go by. Thanks for posting them!

^ I went to a hot blooded show on a Saturday night, and could not find a seat in the showplace.

And yes.. Thank you for the pictures!!

I thought the site of The International Showplace used to be where the dolphin show was.
