January 5, 201214 yr Winnie Witch's Cauldrons at Happy Land of Hanna–Barbera. Keep the pictures coming.
January 6, 201214 yr It was in the area where Charlie Brown's Windup is presently located. It was on the right after you passed First Aid and entered Hanna Barbera Land. .
January 6, 201214 yr It would be kinda neat if they would of kept that compass painted. When did they finally tar/paint over it.
January 6, 201214 yr Am I the only one who really doesn't like how open the area looks in that picture?
January 6, 201214 yr Am I the only one who really doesn't like how open the area looks in that picture? From the air I like how open it is...but I know I would hate it if I were on ground level...it would be like being in Boomerang Bay.
January 6, 201214 yr While they make me too sick to enjoy, a tea cup style ride seems like a "must" for any amusement park. It would be nice if they could squeeze one into Coney Island sometime.
January 6, 201214 yr I find it interesting how clean the landscaping was. There doesn't seem to be a large array of gardening going on in that area. Were most parks of the time like that? (big on the well manicured bushes/trees, and not so much into the floral aspects) Wish that I could've seen the park during it's glory days.
January 6, 201214 yr Author Photo #5 - Flying Dutchman (was located near Adventure Express's entrance.)
January 6, 201214 yr The beginning of Adventure Express' queue - the "curved" part - is actually a piece of the former ride's platform. And, for those who didn't know, Flying Dutchman was relocated to Kentucky Kingdom after it was removed from Kings Island.
January 6, 201214 yr I think zephyr and WindSeeker are fine enough for swings, though sitting in something looks cool.
January 6, 201214 yr And, for those who didn't know, Flying Dutchman was relocated to Kentucky Kingdom after it was removed from Kings Island. And it needs to make a return to KI.
January 6, 201214 yr If Six Flags didn't move it out (and I don't think they did), the ride would be the property of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Not unlike the park itself, its future would be very much in limbo at the moment.
January 6, 201214 yr If we want to get particular... the first movie to win Best Picture(1931) was "Grand Hotel".. but Wings won an Oscar its first year for "Most Outstanding Production(1929)" And did you know that Grand Hotel is the only Best Picture winner in oscar history not to have been nominated in any other categories?
January 6, 201214 yr Paul, you mean Winnie Witch's Cauldrens, the only ride at KI on which I have had a protein spill in my 40 years of patronage of the park. ( ooops, just discovered I posted this a day after the photo I am referring to was posted-I just realized the topic today is Flying Dutcman. )
January 7, 201214 yr Paul, you mean Winnie Witch's Cauldrens, the only ride at KI on which I have had a protein spill in my 40 years of patronage of the park. oops, double post.
January 7, 201214 yr The Beast photo looks like it could be one of those old Tide commercials. Or an album cover from 'Three Dog Night'
January 7, 201214 yr The Beast photo looks like it could be one of those old Tide commercials. Or an album cover from 'Three Dog Night' VERY good! And did you know that Grand Hotel is the only Best Picture winner in oscar history not to have been nominated in any other categories? No, no I didn't...interesting.
January 7, 201214 yr I wish I were there to ride King Cobra. But I have been on two stand up coasters, Mantis and Vortex (Carowinds). I like that picture.
January 7, 201214 yr Nice picture, love old KC shots. If anyone has any pictures of the highly sought after queue line then that would absolutely make my day.
January 7, 201214 yr I am so glad I had the opportunity to ride KC a few times. It was a fun ride. I kind of remember the queue...was part of it kind of below ground level? I got in line for in one night pretty late, and the line was really long, and my family members wondered what happened to me!
January 7, 201214 yr I have fond memories of King Cobra...mostly because it was one of my mom's favorite rides...but I personally enjoy Delirium a lot more than King Cobra.
January 7, 201214 yr Now that I've been to Kings Dominion to ride Shockwave, I'm pretty sure I'd have liked King Cobra. When it was around, I was too short (and later too afraid) to ride it. I do still have a few memories of watching it run. Now that I know going upside down on a roller coaster isn't actually the scariest thing ever, I'd be willing to bet KC, with its lack of that awful banked left turn of Shockwave's, would actually rank fairly high on my ratings. I need to go to Canada...
January 7, 201214 yr King Cobra was removed one year too early for me. Always wish I would have rode it.
January 7, 201214 yr Based off my experience on Canada's Wonderland's Skyrider, I wouldn't care for King Cobra to ever make a return to Kings Island. It wasn't a bad ride, but it's far from extraordinary and I'd much rather prefer Delirium. Regarding the picture though, I'm digging the floral American flag at the bottom
January 7, 201214 yr I am sure I am in the extreme minority...I would prefer a ride on AE or Congo Falls over a ride on any flat at KI...and of all of the flat rides, VF and Zephyr are my favorites.
January 7, 201214 yr ^ I'm with you. At least in 2011, Adventure Express was my favorite ride at KI. My favorite flats are Viking Fury and (wait for it) The Crypt, but for some reason, it seemed like VF always had a line this past season. Because of that, I only ended up riding it once, on closing day. (I also enjoy Zephyr, but it's not one of my favorites. Between walking onto Zephyr and walking onto WindSeeker, I'd probably choose WindSeeker.)
