IndyGuy4KI
Holiday World is building 12 cabanas in their water park. http://www.holidaywo...their-very-best
bkroz
I will forever be at a loss to explain the fascination with cabanas. People are apparently willing to pay quite a premium for reserved chairs and shade. To me, it's almost a joke how they typically list "four chairs," "a table," and "food service*" as amenities. I suppose others find value in that and are willing to pay, or else these parks wouldn't continue to build cabanas and call it an "expansion." At Geauga Lake, the $65 rate ($85 on weekends) provides: "lounge chairs, a dining table with umbrella, and full food and beverage service brought right to your cabana. You even get two inner tubes and a locker with your cabana rental!" The fan, lounge chairs, and Wi-fi at least make Holiday World's a step above most I've seen before, but really. * You must pay for the food, of course, but they'll bring it to you on a luxurious brown tray from the quick service stand fifteen feet from the wave pool. Oldiesmann
I don't understand it either. Why would you go to the water park just so you could pay to sit in the luxurious comfort of your own shaded tent?
vortexfan
I don't understand it either. Why would you go to the water park just so you could pay to sit in the luxurious comfort of your own shaded tent? That's not the point. Nobody goes to a water park with the purpose of renting a cabana.... It's intention is to maximize the enjoyment for the guest (while bringing in profit) and obviously people like the idea. I don't see how paying extra for reserved chairs and lounge space is any worse than having upcharge skip-the-line passes. I know I've been to crowded water parks and the thought of having my own cabana was certainly appealing.
Avatar
Good to see them bring that option to Splashin Safari and hopefully they will be similar affordable as their other up-charge options are at Holiday World. I can think of hundreds of reasons why a family, families or a group would want to rent a cabana for a day or longer. I have never done so but have thought about it, but my daughter was picked to be the Big Kahuna twice at Typhoon Lagoon which gave us use of a private area for the day and the benefits that came with that. Sometimes and in some situations it is not about the cost but more about having an opportunity to enjoy a day in a waterpark that would not be available or an option without the use of a cabana. flightoffear1996
I wonder if the park would mind if your brought in one of these.
Avatar
I am sure they would not if you paid them but here in Indiana after our state fair tragedy the state would have something to say about it. So in short, yes they would mind..
KIfan73
I don't doubt, that for a lot of people, they wouldn't visit the watermark without a way to have a little bit of seclusion. Not everybody wants to or is comfortable with just throwing a towel down and hanging out in their swimsuit. Plus, I'm sure with kids, it would make it really nice to have one of these. Having said that, me personally, I would like the cabana, but I'm fine with riding the train over, throwing my sandals and shirt in the grass, and riding the slides. CedarPointer
I wonder if the park would mind if your brought in one of these. I think the employees would be laughing too hard to be able to scan your ticket.

miniracer
Swim up bar when the beer is ice cold and the water around the guys that've been there all day is strangely warmer. No thanks.
thekidd33
I can see Holiday World making a killing off of these. I love Splashin' Safari almost as much as I hate crowds of people (I know, I know, I picked the wrong hobby).

Warm water is not the only problem. If they had been drinking there are day, I would not want to be the life guard that fishes them out after they pass out!
