beastrider97 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Isn't Raptor awesome? We are counting down until the secret will be set free. Click on the 2013 tab to countdown with us. Are you on the EDGE of your seat and holding on? Reference to the winged seating most likely. I sort of like the name Gatekeeper, it would make sense given the location. Given the current winged logo, it seems like there would be an almost bird like theme to it. Quote
malem Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Cedar Fair comes up with some pretty awful names, but Gatekeeper is the worst yet. Wait for the announcement before deciding that the name doesn't fit. For all we know, the coaster could be flying around a giant Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. 3 Quote
Titan Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Gatekeeper? Let me guess, the queue line will contain exhibits of various gates found around the world...... 3 Quote
Captain Picard Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Gatekeeper could be the one that keeps most of the gate. The old Gatekeeper didn't want to give the gate away. 1 Quote
HWBeast1039 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I do hope that Gatekeeper is just a code name. That doesn't sound like the name of a big bad coaster. They might as well call it the hedgetrimmer, or the janitor. Gravekeeper on the other hand would be cool, with black track and a scary theme. 1 Quote
Browntggrr Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 Or it could be leaked "on purpose". What was the hint from the beginning? Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I disagree. Giving, THE Gatekeeper could work. Giving it a "character" ...oh wait we can call it Zulu. Who you gonna call? Quote
diamondhawk Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I think the name Gatekeeper is a reference to the Levithan, sometimes called the Gatekeeper of h***. So even though in some ways it's a clever name, Gatekeeper sounds boring if you don't have background information. Quote
HWBeast1039 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 I can see it now. EL PORTERO- CLEANING UP THE MESS IN 2013. 2 Quote
dr_humor Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I personally like the name Gatekeeper quite a bit, especially with a Gargoyle theme (potentially). Why is Gatekeeper bad when the signature elements of the ride include at least one (rumored two) passes right over the new soon-to-be-built main gate? It's the new Gatekeeper to the park. I dig it. 4 Quote

The Interpreter Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Be glad it's not Six Flags. Leviathan would be sponsored by Levi. And Gatekeeper would be sponsored by Home Depot! 4 Quote
LongliveKingsCobra Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Exactly.THE Gatekeeper was awakened when he sensed his park was being over run by people, he woke to protect his gates and scare off unsuspecting guests... Quote
A.S.Coasters Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Getkeeper sounds somewhat intimidating, not what I would choose but who cares. 2 Quote
malem Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 According to the thread on Pointbuzz, the cedarpoint.com site map briefly contained two new sections, "Edge" and "Interceptor The Ride", which were removed quickly after discovery. False clues, or sloppy website updates? Quote
Browntggrr Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 Who you gonna call? Rick Moranis? Quote
malem Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Who you gonna call? Rick Moranis? No, you'd want to call Sigourney Weaver. Quote
IBEW_Sparky Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Being a former LEO, I would Love Interceptor!! Quote
Jasper Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 According to screamscape there are rumored to be not one....but two keyhole elements. Quote
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 CP keeps mentioning dead rides. 4 Quote
malem Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Mantis is a dead ride? It should be, as taking almost 4 G's in the knees isn't enjoyable to most people, especially when you're walking around all day. In the small sample of people I asked in line when I rode it for my first (and only) time, zero had ridden it before. Quote
Titan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Mantis is a dead ride? Maybe they are foreshadowing? One could hope. Titan who never thought he'd get something out of Language Arts. Quote
THE_BEASTmaster Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Mantis is a dead ride? I think they're referring to it's original name "Banshee" being dead before they named it Mantis. Quote
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I must of missed the Mantis post. I have only seen WildCat and the "Disaster" post. Can you explain where Mantis came into the conversation, I am unable to find it on their site or Facebook page? Quote
TheCrypt Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 A teaser states "What is taller than Mantis, and screams like a Banshee?" Quote
Colonel_SoB_fan Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 ^Awww thanks, I must have missed that one. Quote
