flightoffear1996
Build a retaining wall to hold the hill back maybe?
Browntggrr
^ Given what we know/ heard, something along that line makes sense. Much land & brush/ trees were moved/ removed for DB. It would not be surprising if the land is still somewhat unsettled.
Diamondbill
Adding to the ground issues would be that is a fast low level turn with a lot of side loading and the steel supports are short and can't flex enough so all the side force goes direct;y into the footers and the ground. Fear the Four
Sometimes footings crack... It happens and always will happen. And it probably happens more than most people think.
flightoffear1996
Does anyone have pictures of the said work being done?
thunderbeast1968
I am ONLY JOKING. Is Diamondback sinking along with Vortex? Maybe it was built on an ancient burial ground. Seriously, I understand about the concrete or the land has settled from the removal of trees, just remember most of the rides at Kings Island were built after the removal of trees. Huge example, The Beast, built right back in to woods with lots of trees removed. Sounds like it's a possibility of poor concrete to begin with, even though I have never heard of a park having similar problems. BTW: When my house was built, a structural engineer had to come out and inspect the pouring of concrete of the foundation of our home. Browntggrr
Beast's installation did not remove nearly as much as DB & was actually designed around large trees. Beast is also a terrain coaster, thus less space was needed for construction equipment allowing less trees to be removed.
Jr for Birdy
DB is slithering, i dont see any victims yet though.
calakapepe
I thought we've concluded that The Vortex isn't actually sinking despite what the footers look like. And I wouldn't believe anything that's being said about DB yet if it's just someone's guess.
Browntggrr
Once Vortex sinks, an Aquatrax will be installed.
HWBeast1039
The Voyage at holiday world has some footers that are completely covered with soil. Parks really should research before building their coasters over swamps & Indian burial grounds.

thekidd33
DB is slithering, i dont see any victims yet though. It appears, from the park webcam, that DB has re-opened.

I've seen parks build coasters over snipe hunting grounds as well.

KI FANATIC 37
Is it just me, or can you see a lot more dirt below that part of the ride on the webcam? Or has it always been like that?
Oldiesmann
Diamondback did indeed reopen to the public sometime yesterday morning. The work that was done is near the last turnaround (right after they take your picture). Look to your left in that area and you'll see cleared dirt as well as fresh concrete.
