Get up close and personal with Cincinnati Zoo tigers

Recommended Posts

Beginning this weekend you will have a chance to stand face to face with Malayan tigers at the Cincinnati Zoo. Only an inch of glass separates the cats from visitors at the new Cat Canyon.

In addition to Malayan tigers, white tigers and snow leopards will be housed in this exhibit. Cat Canyon originally opened in 1934 as Tiger Grotto.

There are now two new viewing areas overlooking three new outdoor exhibits, waterfalls, new rock work, a wooden bridge and the eye-to-eye viewing panes.

This is incredible, plus the expansion they have started for next year next to the giraffes! The zoo is reinventing, building memories, and stays in the top 10 of zoos around this grand land.

good for them!

It is a great addition/ expansion, although, their hand may have been (unfortunately) forced due to AZA requirement changes.

I do know that AZA requirements for elephant care/ enclosures recently (and drastically) changed resulting in major renovation costs for many zoos . I do not know if changes were made for tigers and/ or giraffes.
