Well, this is from another fansite...just thought I'd bring it up...

The restraints of TTD are banned in just about every state except Ohio! Intamin will not make them anymore because of issues with them. Cedar Fair has refused to retrofit TTD with OTSRS and has gotten the cooperation from the state of Ohio to allow it. Cedar Fair did, however, have to retrofit xcellerator with a modified lap bar because the government of California outlawed the intamin T-bar restraint.

Bolded for emphasis. I doubt the Department of Agriculture would be so lenient on this.

By the way, how did the DoA get stuck with amusement rides...?

As a frequent flyer of amusement parks of all kinds, I rather revel in the fact that I have never been so disappointed in an amusement park and the company running it. My family and I paid 179 dollars each for the platinum passes, with which, for those of you who are unaware, allow us into any Cedar Fair owned amusement park as if we were season pass owners. This evening, we drove roughly four hours for the sole purpose of visiting King's Island as we greatly enjoy your facilities. We had intended on leaving at roughly 6:30 to go have dinner together at one of our favorite restaurants, and then returning to the park for the Halloween event, As we were going to get our hand stamped, we noticed a sign that said "NO RE-ENTRY AFTER 7 P.M.". heavily confused, we went to guest services to inquire about whether this applied to pass holders, as we SHOULD have had the ability to leave and re-enter at any time. instead, we were told "it doesn't matter what kind of pass you have, you can't come back in." So, to summarize the rest of the night, we left the park, and are sorely disappointed. We feel as if we have been cheated out of our weekend, and are now very hesitant in giving Cedar Fair any more of our money. You can also bet that we will be informing all people we know who are intending on making this trip, not to bother, as they too will be disappointed. thank you for a wasted night.

This might be a dumb question, but why can't you enter the park after 7pm? It seems like if you have a season pass you should be able to come to the park at any time during it's operating hours. I've never been to Halloween Haunt, so does it work differently for that?

It has always been a policy that every guest must have their hand stamped, including season pass holders, before they leave in order to reenter the park. It is clearly posted that during Haunt events, there is NO REENTRY after 7Pm and they were told that and they still chose to leave the park. It has always been that policy. It is not like Ki all of a sudden made that policy just to target them, but rather, it has been the policy for a long time. If they wanted to go out for dinner, they should had left sooner. But look at the hassle they had to go through to walk to their car, leave and then come back and park further away and walk back to the front gate again. Is it really worth the few dollars that they would save for dinner? Why not do what others do and bring a cooler and leave it in the car and then go back and take the cooler to the front picnic tables near the season pass building? Or take a chance and leave their cooler at the tables like others do? It is their own fault and not Kings Island's fault.

First you can't have the same pass scanned twice in one day, any day of the year. So it would be hard to tell who is and is not a pass holder at the hand stamp line. Second it has always been a rule for the Haunt. I'm not 100% sure why but know people have gotten in trouble by the park for speculating.

I understand that you can't get your pass swiped more than once per visit, but if someone had their hand stamped before they left they still could not re-enter the park?

The reason season pass holders must have their hand stamped is how the pass is counted to keep track of the attendance during each day's visit. it tracks your visit each day and the system shows how many guests are in the park at any given moment, minus the guests that leave the park. Read the back of the pass and it shows the policy of no reentry without a hand stamp. It is the same with parking. Keep your receipt to gain entry into the parking lot without paying again to park.

My problem isn't with having your hand stamped, I understand that completely. During the summer, my girlfriend and I will go to the waterpark during the day, get our hand stamped and leave and go get some lunch/dinner. Then we'll return to go to the main park for the evening. I completely understand that part and don't have a problem with it. I guess what I'm confused about is why, even with a hand stamp, you're not allowed to return to "Haunt" after 7 pm. It would make sense if it was ending at 7:30 or 8, but it goes on til 1 in the morning. Why couldn't a person with a hand stamp come back? I understand there was a sign posted, I guess I'm just wondering about the actual reasoning behind it.

I'm sure it is because they don't want 1,000 people out in the parking lot, tailgating, going back and forth, drinking their own beer and liquor, and, repeating said process 4-5 times during the evening.

What's stopping people from doing that at any point during KI's operating season?

I have seen security force people who were drinking beer at the picnic tables dump it on the grass. I have seen guest escorted out of the park that were intoxicated and causing problems. During the regular hours during the season, the purpose of guest leaving the park is to eat and not drink and drink to excess. During the Haunt, guests have tried to enter the park with of all things a belt make out of bullets, among other things. During the times when they used to have Grad Nites, it was not uncommon for the guests to get drunk and cause trouble. I worked at the local Holiday Inn and saw first hand how drunk these minors were and caused all kinds of trouble for the motel. It was one of the reasons for it being discontinued. It is to prevent people in Haunt from going out and having something to drink. But it is well posted as to the no reentry policy during Haunt. When you have lot of intoxicated guests it is and will cause problems with fights and what not.

^^ Nothing is stopping anyone from doing it.

The point of the "rule" is for security. Haunt guests are much different than the normal summer guest (i.e. rowdy, energetic, younger- in a nutshell- it is more of a college party atmosphere than a family atmosphere.) They will go to the parking lot & drink or partake in other extra curricular activities that will most likely end up being an empty Doritos bag.

The rule is not a big deal, unless you want it to be a big deal. Sporting events & concerts have had the same policy for many years for many of the same reasons.

This particular poster was just miffed his well laid out plan did not go as he planned. I questioned if he drove four hours for KI, or for dinner, given his "weekend" was ruined.

Second it has always been a rule for the Haunt.

It has always been that policy.

Actually, I'm pretty positive that the no re-entry rule wasn't introduced until 2007. Which technically was the "first" year of Haunt... if you ignore the seven seasons before that where the event ran under a different name.

A self described "frequent flyer" with a platinum pass should know of the policy as it is a handful of years old.

If he did not, then shame on him for not doing the leg work and on top of that, he should understand that policies can change as necessary.

He obviously has other motives for willing to give up his pass for his own misunderstanding. This incident just gives him a "good excuse" in his eyes for a decision that was already made.

I have said it before- those who intentionally look for a problem will find one.
