MikelAS Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Nope Mr.Ouimet does, if anyone. Mr. Helbig is just the head PR guy for Kings Island. Mr. Ouimet does not own the park... Cedar Fair is a publicly traded company. 1 Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 FUN doesn't manage, own or operate it either. FUN is NOT a company. It is a limited partnership. Few understand that. The master partner has far more power than the unitholders in the limited partnership. 2 Quote

Aaron88stang Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 any one care to do an illustration of what has been torn down and what is still standing of the ride layout? 1 Quote

KI FANATIC 37 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 ^ Best pictures IVe seen yet! Thats amazing! I thought that there was more torn down than that, but still thats a lot for 2 weeks. 1 Quote

ObiPugs Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Funny how the first parts to come down are the parts of the ride with the major issues. Quote

TheCrypt Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 The park is going to look a lot different, now. What with the vast, open, 12 acres surrounded by trees. It will certainly take some time getting used to, but I'm sure it won't be as barren for too long. 1 Quote

Better keep the cats locked away, unless of course you are Brave. The largest UK Alumni chapter anywhere is in Atlanta. Besides, I shall soon be going on a great adventure north, and Atlanta will again become a vacation destination, not a place of abode for me. 2 Quote

ukfan031 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Yep, a very frequent lurker. Really enjoy the site, thought it was time to give a little back. 6 Quote
TheBEASTunchained Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 We'll it looks like the rose bowl is cut off from the rest of the ride now....In some peoples opinion, The rose bowl should have been cut off many years ago.... 3 Quote
Hammbone Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 I wonder why it seems like they are doing the demo in random areas instead of starting in one area and working around? 1 Quote
Dieseltech20 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Take out small sections so that large ones come down easier, I assume. 1 Quote
KIfan73 Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Despite everything that's transpired in the last few years (including reading the threads on here), I am still shocked when I see pictures of SoB being torn down. It doesn't seem very long ago at all when it was new, and I was riding it for the first time (June of 2000). 3 Quote
Jayblazer Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 It looked from the tower today that the two spots where they were working was because the Crain could swing back and forth between those two spots. Quote
TheCrypt Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Take out small sections so that large ones come down easier, I assume. Then why are they starting with the large sections? Quote
The Interpreter Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Ah, but size could refer to height, length or total mass in this instance. Not to mention what would otherwise be large is often small in the context of Son of Beast, a nearly 22 stories tall wooden coaster, the second longest wooden in the world, with a nearly 12 story tall loop (higher than Racer, nearly as tall as Beast), and the ride that put Kings Island in the category of most wooden coaster track of any park on the planet (Jeff worked there, as you can see!) Separately, I wonder if when they were kids, the contractor's mommies told them, "if you don't stop tearing things up, you'll never amount to anything!"? 5 Quote
Original Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Going to KI right now. I plan to take some pictures for you guys from the eifle tower. If it is open. Hi guys. Looks like ukfan031 beat me to the pictures. BUT! I'll still post them. Sorry it took me so long. A round trip to KI is 8 HOURS for us. We only stayed for about 4-5 hours too. I hope Some of you will still appricate them . TheBEASTunchained Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Great view from the Eiffel Tower...... Thanks for the pictures 1 Quote
Snowman Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I was standing at the park yesterday thinking, "I bet the lighter trains can make that jump!". Wouldn't it be a great publicity stunt to send a train filled with water dummies down the first hill and just see how far it would go? 4 Quote
KI FANATIC 37 Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I was really hoping they would run one last empty train before demolition. I would love to see that video on Youtube every so often! 2 Quote
OhioChris Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I got some pics from the Eiffel Tower yesterday too, but (no surprise) they are very similar to what's been posted already. I'll be visiting at least a couple more times before the end of season, so I'll try to get some on each visit. 4 Quote
