Hello! My name's Matt, and tomorrow at 4, I have an interview for a job in the food and beverage department! now, this isn't my first job, but it is my first real interview. I would like to know what to expect. Aside from "Tell me about yourself?" what should I go into the interview knowing an answer for beforehand? Any tips or techniques would be wonderful. Thank you!

My least favorite job interview question is "Tell me about your biggest short-coming as an employee."

I always prepare for that one and it still takes me by surprise when they ask it.

Speak confidently. Smile. Give the impression you will show up for your shift and not steal. That ought to do the trick.

Oh and good luck!

My least favorite interview question is the whole "tell us about a situation at your previous job when you were asked to do something that you didn't want to do" thing.

The only advice I can give is to be open and be yourself. Don't try to answer questions based on what you think they want to hear. They're not trying to "nail" you or trick you into responding a certain way.

Also keep in mind that the people doing the interviews have to ask the same questions hundreds of times a day, and probably don't enjoy asking them any more than you enjoy answering them.

If they ask you what your greatest weakness is, make sure to follow it up with a way you are improving that weakness.

Like it was said above, just go in and be yourself. Sometimes it's not only the answers they are looking for, but more so, your attitude.

Just do a little research as to why interviewers ask these questions and what they want out of them. The best advice I was given by the VP in the MIS department as Great America was to not to turn the interview into a question and answer session but into a conversation. Just get a good nights sleep and be yourself. The main thing with Kings Island is they are seeking team players and employees that are willing to work and be on time ready to work each day.

I interviewed at Michigan's Adventure two weeks ago and the only question he asked was if I could swim. I wasn't even applying for a job that involved swimming.

My point is, don't be suprised by anything.

You'll be absolutely fine, Kings Island knows this will probably be your first job and will understand that you're nervous. They won't be tough on you, they just want to see if you can work as a team, and do the job correctly. Good luck, and remember, a firm handshake is a must.

Don't forget to let us know how it goes!

Questions I've been asked at park interviews (I've worked for 3 of them, including KI) have always included why you want to work at that park. Be honest about this one - I told an interviewer that I wanted to work at KI because I spend so much time there I might as well get paid for it! He said that was the best answer he'd heard all day, and in the end I got the job.

Yes, in MOST cases to seasonal jobs at Kings Island, you will know if you have been hired before you leave the interview.

Yes, definitely give the impression you will not steal.

If you walk in with pantyhose on your head and scream "hands up!", you may not get the job.

its always a good thing to hear when people who love there park get a job in the park. it will open/expand/broaden your horizon/better outlook of what exactly goes on behind the scenes to make the park functional.
