Or the website is old and the ride its advertising is not new any more, the site gets barely any traffic, and they simply decided not to renew the domain any longer.

If this thread were correct, literally every action the park has taken in the past year is directly related to the new ride. Which is entirely untrue.

*Technically* the domain is still active, and parked on Cedar Fair's JobNet site. http://sonofbeast.com is still forwarding to http://kingsdominion.com.

I doubt they'll let these domains expire for a long while, as it could be potentially dangerous for the company if the domains were then sold to some freelance web designer that could pose the corresponding sites as "official" websites of Cedar Fair.

And as a side note, they still own pki.com (3 letter domains are EXTREMELY hard to come by), and it just forwards to http://visitkingsisland.com. I would also speculate that they still haven't purchased http://kingsisland.com hasn't been purchased yet because the current owner wants quite a chunk of change for it. (I couldn't imagine that KI/CF hasn't approached them for it...)

Sorry if my thoughts aren't coming out clearly...it's all part of the web domain market that can be quite confusing, even to Miles, whose been creating websites for years.

Edit: I may be wrong about this, but I don't believe Cedar Point bought a domain for Gate Keeper. It seems Cedar Fair is making custom sites within their main websites, probably for a slew of reasons including cost. See: Gate Keeper, KI for a Cure, the [new] Dino's Alive site that may or may not be live yet, Bigger, Better Planet Snoopy @ KD, etc. So for KI 2014, I'd look for internal pages on KI's site, rather than a separate domain...

Diamondback's website is no longer in use.

https://www.kiDiamondback.com

This could be a sign that Cedar Fair wants to shift our attention away from the ride that may end up losing its title as "The Meanest coaster ever to strike Kings Island" to something new.

DBI, beginning to notice something...

https://www.kiDiamondback.com redirects to the jobs website, but http://www.kiDiamondback.com doesn't (however, it is kind of broken).

How much could a three letter domain name cost?

Anywhere from thousands to millions of dollars...

I noticed that as well... However, Chrome just redirected me to the https:// page with a warning message that the site was trying to display something that I didn't request or whatever...

I'm still thinking it's going to be some variation of a wingrider/4D coaster. I really would like a Giga, but I will be happy with a new coaster no matter what it is.

450 foot Vekoma SLC that is 14,000 feet long?

I agree with you about sonofbeast.com but what if thats not the case?.....Could there come a need for sonofbeast.com in the future?.....Is there more to it than what were seeing?.......

Coming to King's Island in 2014 - WEEDS - The Ride Hey, that's all I see!

I sure would love to see some mom's standing around selling drugs!

Or you could ride though a big smoke dome...

I'm so sorry I ever made this post. It never dawned on me that it would be taken as a drug reference. I have never done drugs of any kind so I guess I'm a bit ignorant about the lingo. What I meant was that since the footers were installed, many weeds have grown up around them - no track or supports have been placed, only weeds - so, hence, WEEDS - The Ride 'cos that's all I saw!

I forget where but CF said that they will not use seperate websites for new attractions anymore, instead use the parks url and create a sub-page (no www.leviathan.canadaswonderland.com; more like www.canadaswonderland.com/leviathan (this is just an example).

By putting the rides page within the parks url, it makes it really hard to actually find the page. When DA was going to CW, one night before it was announced, I replaced Kings Island with canadas wonderland in DA's url and boom...found out what is known to be one of wonderlands worst kept secrets.

The only reason Gatekeeper was leaked was because the webmaster was really silly buy changing the things to do section on the home page with Gatekeeper's blog, webcams, videos, etc.

No one found out about Goldstricker (I think) as the coasters page did not go live until the announcment. I remember typing in the exact url that it is today before the announcment but coming back with nothing.

Leviathan...we just found a password blocked site and knew.

I really would love something similar to a Maverick type coaster, but maybe double the length(and height). That is currently my favorite ride, and thats even after riding Gatekeeper.

You are not alone, but I just don't see that happening this year. Maybe in the future though!

Well, you actually grow and harvest corn around the ride. The coaster goes through the corn. Not only that but the could make a little money selling the corn once its ready for harvesting. Sure, you may have a month where the corn effect is kinda useless, but think about that full grown corn! Riding low to the ground through close range corn, cant think of a better ride myself. -

I decided to try Banshee.com on my mobile device and I got a message saying:

"It works!

This is the default web page for this server.

The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet."

Hmm.

More than likely it would be www.kiBanshee.com just like Diamondback was www.kiDiamondback.com
