The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I really think Don is just trying to throw us off here. He said "it may not be announced in the summer" not it will not. I will be very surprised if it not announced by the end of Summer (Sept, 21,I think). That is not what he said. Not even close. He said there may not be a day this summer when the ride is announced. Sigh. 1
The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 It's VERY different. Terp, who says if you are interpreting you must start with the right base. 3
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 And I'm asking you to elaborate, so I don't do it again....
Shaggy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 How is that different than what I said? As Interpreter said, it's totally different. Don's statement is open-ended and answers the question without answering it. Classic PR. You can change the meaning of the statement just by placing the emphasis on different nouns. Day, Ride, Summer... 8
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Thank you for replying and explaining politely. If I'm in the minority then it must be me! 1

Day, Ride, Summer... ^ These are the basics of good PR. 5
The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 And I can say what I can say and then can say no more. 6
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 And I can say what I can say and then can say no more. I understand and respect that, but when I ask you a simple question I find it silly to refuse. That is all. 1
Jr for Birdy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Thank you for replying and explaining politely. If I'm in the minority then it must be me! Your not, both quotes tell me the same thing. My brain hurts. 1
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I probably should of not put quotes around it. I thought I was summarizing it, but I guess I Interpreted it wrong.... 2
The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 No. You interpreted and summarized, but said that was what Don said. It isn't. 2
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Ok. You've made your point. I was mistaken. I apologize.
The Interpreter Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 No need to apologize. We just need to be careful not to put words in Don's mouth. He very precisely used the words he did, in the order he did. Terp, who makes his living parsing words. 2
benred23 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I personally side with KiFanatic. That Phrase ment the exact same thing. In any case, we shall see.. 2
HTCO Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 To defend myself from earlier: My favorite steel coaster is Raptor... so to say I hate inverts is simply... No. I was saying, literally every single B&M invert has a loop, zero g roll, cobra roll, maybe a dive loop, couple corkscrews, then a helix. I love B&M's and I love inverts. But you can not sit here and tell me that they are unpredictable. And if ya don't believe me, go through this list and look at the 'elements' portion of each ride. http://rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&ml=6717 4
Rustbucket Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 They are not the same. If a ride is announced in the evening during this summer, what Don said is still true. Remember to read between lines. This is a classic PR, media, politician and court room speech. 6
KI FANATIC 37 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 "Well.....that escalated quickly". Isn't that what forums are for? No I meant no disrespect to Terpy. We just disagreed on things. It happens. I hope he feels the same! 7

Jr for Birdy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I think it will be announced on Haunt opening night.
Tuskin Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 "Well.....that escalated quickly". Isn't that what forums are for? No I meant no disrespect to Terpy. We just disagreed on things. It happens. I hope he feels the same! I was merely trying to add some comic relief to the seriousness that had happened in the last page. You have no quails with me. 1

Don's statement is open-ended and answers the question without answering it. Classic PR. You can change the meaning of the statement just by placing the emphasis on different nouns. rcwizard13 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 In regards to the quote, "there may not be a day this summer when the ride is announced." Most of you seem to be missing a crucial word that discredits the entire statement. May. Meaning maybe. Which means the statement gives no definitive answer. It may not be a day this summer, but it also may be a day this summer. To me, the quote means nothing. 1
